Would you pay an additional sub fee for housing?

I know the idea seems absurd! But money talks and there are A LOT of people that want housing but cant get it because there isn't any available!
There is seriously a shortage of housing on ALL the servers! Enix has stated (true or not) "it would cost them more $$$ for more servers"! If that is the case, then I propose adding more servers for housing, call them "Premium Shards", and charge a buck or two a month for the housing! I may think that that is BS, but I would pay it! And a lot of people would!

Please give me your viewpoint on this! Realize, there has to be something in it for Enix (remember, they are a business), and please don't say "how about keeping their subs" or something to that effect because people aren't leaving because of "housing"! I know this because if that were the case, they would have added unlimited housing!

God no, I think this sets a horrible precedent and opens the door to even worse. I would honestly rather see housing removed than be charged for.

And tbh, the sub is enough, housing is something they offered as part of the game, not as a cash bouns, it's up to them to make it work. Frankly with the rumours that SE is not funding them enough, it's totally on SE to make it work and invest more in the game. Player retention is a good reason, a penny saved is a penny earned.

There are some things, like cosmetics, that I'm all for in the cash shop, but never ever content. I really can't stand all these "I want this, so charge me for it threads either." I hate that it's the go to for everyone. There is a difference between "they are a business and need to make money", delivering a high quality product, and "Please gouge us!"

Also, one can assume that some have left with housing being one of their reasons, they don't seem to have an exit poll, so do they even know why people leave, usually people don't leave for one reason though, general discontent or lack of interest with one or two major gripes most likely. Until they start investing more back into the game, I see little reason to add this kind of thing to the cash shop.

I respectfully disagree with you! I would rather pay for what I want and am asking for, rather than things I didn't want or ask for!
Plus I don't see the difference between charging for a in game shirt, or an ingame house! I want a house, not a stupid shirt!
I don't want another retainer, I want a house!

I personally thing charging $10 to change your name is a more of a ripoff! I think charging $10 to change or fix your race is a ripoff! I think paying $18 to change servers is a ripoff! Charging for a house? Not so much!

Depends on the price, that and only small houses should be obtainable through real money. If you want a medium house or mansion then you should work for it.

It doesn't matter if its a rip off, thats beside the point. What matters is what they are actually selling. Glamours/emotes/fantaisas etc aren't actual content, thats the difference. You need a house, or an fc house to do a lot of the stuff in the game. The lighting outfit does not unlock content for example.

If they are overcharging is an entirely different debate. You are asking that content be gated behind the cash shop.


Not to mention that there are already a lot of free ($ wise, not gil wise) housing in the game, so charging for somethingh that thousands get for free, and is not one time event based, is crazy.


Charging for a second and third house is something that I wouldn't mind however, since you can only have one per character.

What really needs to happen is for them to revamp the housing system, not have this half assed limited one.

Anything close to an in game advantage for real money is a no-no. Especially since your idea is poorly thought out at best. I.E. - I pay $5 for a house then sell it in game for Gil. And if you were to rebut with "houses can only be bought with real money" then I would gladly call it an even worse idea lol.

Honestly, I would rather see them create a private zone for guilds like Neverwinter did, and let us build player houses there or something of that sort. Either that or make separate districts as guilds and private houses, not mixing and matching.

But paying RL money for housing? I see what your going for there, and part of me is like, sure I"ll drop 10 bucks or something for a housing plot, but ultimately, I agree with Whiteroom, it only feels like it will set a horrible precedent.

I think the option would be more worthwhile to quite a few people than anything the Mog Station currently offers, but I absolutely do not want to set that precedent.

I feel like it's bad enough that inventory issues (namely via glamor) go unsolved likely just to garner more retainer fees.

You idea would also need a few safety measures, such as an seperate ward only available to Mog Station housing, such that it's not competing for space with regular purchases, nor "sell-able" for in-game money.

No I wouldnt pay for housing. The housing system (not speaking about lack of houses) is very limited and poorly designed imo. Now if they had something like EQ2, than yes I would pay!
