So I just gave that a go after my buddy got his new laptop.
I can never not play this game in 3D again xD
I give SE points for making this 3D compatible , a great aesthetic feature! :P
Anyone else play in 3D?

Since the update of Nvidia driver (thanks to Battlefield 3 beta) we can have 3D-vision in window (not only fullscreen)
So, 3D-vision comming in FFXIV and it's juste amasing.
I have take some picture in .jps if you want to see the result.

Just one problem, the FPS limitation. The maximum value is 60, so it's only 30fps by eye (going to make me made lol)
But, Big NM in 3D, just kick my ass <3
If you want other screen, just ask. Maybe I can make a video in 3D too.
I value my eyes to much to use any form of 3D
I play this game in 3D on occasion as well, it looks sick as hell! (especially with 3D surround) :)
There was a demo playing in Sears (of all places) with the Gobbue attack intro. It had the 3d glasses there so you could watch. I must say I was quite impressed. Im not so hot on 3d stuff (seems gimicky at times) but I thought it was really well done. The Gob's teeth were the coolest part.
Don't know if I would always play like that though, probably would make my head hurt.
I always wondered this... is 3D and Eyefinity compatible? How amazing would it be to have 3X 3D monitors surrounding you.... intense gaming experience.
If i had a 120hz monitor, I'd totally be playing in 3d. And if I had a better video card. For now, I'll just drool at other people's computers...
I really do not like 3D. I tend to get whoozy after an hour long session watching movies in 3D. Avatar 3D at the cinema was a nightmare. I dont mind its an option for people to use. But be aware that 3D could result in epileptic shock. That was a warning I got when used the 3D function on my Optimus 3D phone.
I would rather prefer crisp and clear oldschool 2D gfx instead.
The first 2 mins of this video kinda explains exactly how I feel about 3D.

Eyefinity is pretty hawt too:
Some screenies:

So basically eyefinity is a 3 monitor setup run by a special video card? A bit confused about the technology.
Any ATI card post 4000 series can support 3 screens simultaneously.
It requires one of the three however to be used with an "active display port adapter" (about $25 on newegg)
What it does is merges the 3 screens to create one "large" screen with a extremely long resolution. 1080x5040 in my case. This gives games their "peripheral" and what appears on my center screen is what everyone else sees. The 2 screens on the side are "extra vision" or "peripheral"
The image is not "stretched" though, many people think this. its a lot like going from a square monitor/tv to a widescreen. You get to see more than someone with a square view.
Eyefinity looks very fish-eye camera to me. The clouds and surrounding landscape tilt and swirl towards the middle. Is it that noticeable while you're playing, or is it only something you really pick up in the screen shots?
There is definitely warping of the screen in the thumbnail:

It's not as noticeable when I blow it up, but you see the fish-eye effect quite clearly in that picture. The clouds are all stretching to the center, and even the gate of the left hand side is slightly leaning. After blowing them up, I doubt I'd notice it on my monitors, but it's definitely in the thumbnails posted on the last page.
I still don't really see it, but it might help if you take into account the configuration of the monitors. Generally the two on the sides are angled towards the player a bit, forming sort of a \_/ shape. Maybe what you're noticing is a very slight compensation for that.
Thats because it isn't a super wide screen view.....
the 2 side monitors are your peripheral vision views.... So the monitors would ideally be angled inward slightly....
When you make it all one screen shot, it looks weird... because your angled side views are now flush with whats in front of you
edit:
Seriously? did you really have to say exactly what I was saying while I was typing it? You psychic preemptive douche....
Nah, but seriously... thats what it is... I was saying the same thing
It just has an exaggerated field of view that comes from elongating the screen past the normal size. It's completely normal for any 3D program.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Field_o...in_video_games
Yeah, like I said, I wouldn't notice while playing after I blew it up and scrolled the screen.
This is mainly what I was talking about though, red line is the horizon line and the black lines show how everything look stretched:

Angling the monitors would fix that though, I didn't stop to think about that. Plus shrinking a picture that spans over three monitors to less than 10 inches is obviously going to show warping like that when it wouldn't be noticeable at full screen.
Edit: Fixing image since I uploaded the wrong one.
Sorry for bumping and old thread. The have an Asus Vg278h 3D monitor, and I have to say 3d in this game is awesome. The game is still boring alot of the time, but walking around the world in 3d makes up for it (not really, but its a nice plus).
For people who have this monitor and have ghosting problems, just keep the depth at 50%
