Suggestion to improve titan egi's usefulness

Outside of solo content, titan egi has no use. So to improve that, my idea is that when the summoner uses enkindle on titan egi, titan's earthen fury additionally tethers all mobs hit to the titan egi (for 15-30 seconds). Think of it like eye for an eye, except its guaranteed to proc every single time. The mobs cannot be pulled off, even if a tank has higher aggro.

The point of this is so that titan becomes a sort of locking down tool, which is what a tank or a tanking pet should be doing. This gives titan egi an actual use, without making tank classes useless. Because remember, if this ability is to be fair, its attached to enkindle, which has an uptime of (15-30 seconds suggested) and a down time of 180 seconds.

Now of course the first thing youre thinking is this isnt fair because titan egi can lock down multiple mobs without question, for its duration. This is true, but that doesnt mean titan egi can withstand such high damage. Its actually pretty lacking in defense and is relatively hard to heal. Egi's arent on the party list, and a healer's focustarget should be on the boss anyways, which means a healer has to be paying attention. If the summoner isnt careful, titan egi can very easily die withen a couple seconds.

I dont think this skill should work on the main boss, only on trash mobs or maybe main boss in non raid instances

What I think titan needs to be viable would be a provoke added to "Earthen Ward"

I like your idea, but both of our ideas would just break the end game.

I just stated that it doesnt work on boss mobs. If the devs think a certain mob shouldnt be affected by earthen fury, they can give it resistance as easily as they can give a mob stun resistance. Also your scenario is laughably pathetic. Why would a summoner EVER do that when they could just run garuda with contagion the entire time. The only way that could happen is if the summoner is already running with titan and was planning on the tank dying, which would be idiotic.

Wouldnt be that bad I guess :O I like it.

On a sad note: Eos/Selene will not heal an Egi directy like they will a party member who drops below 80% :c

Scholar main, part of why i hate summoner egis. Thats part of the reason why its harder to heal them

Seeing titan barf up a bunch of chains during a large pull would be amazing. I'd call it spawn-egi.

Personally, I don't mind if a healer can't get my egi. I outright plan on it and never, ever expect a healer to go for it. As ACN we're given sustain pretty early on and if we don't make use of it, it's our own fault. Not to mention, if for some reason the egi does go down, it's a mere 5 seconds to bring it back or a swift summon instead. If people are ragging you for not healing their egi's, they are idiots.

If anyone can think of situations where titan locking down some adds could be game breaking, or any ideas how to make this work better, im interested in hearing it

It's funny how this thread is being brought up when a couple days ago I ran with a random DF group for Aetherochemical without a tank and we cleared the place using Titan egi. Wasn't at all easy but man was that quite an accomplishment for us xD

I guess I like the idea of this, but if it doesn't work on boss mobs, why would summoners even have a particular reason to want to use it now? It's not like most dungeon mobs don't just die within like one dot duration anyway. You'd be better off using garuda for the higher aoe dps at that point instead of trusting titan to not eat shit in ten seconds.

Im thinking along the lines of titan potentially having a use in serious raid content on some minor mobs, that would release the off tank of his duty for a moment, to do other things like debuffing or some extra dps. Theres the potential that titan egi could grab some of the adds off the tank, to ease the damage for a little while, and sacrifice titan to damage. Theres probably a few uses in other non serious 8 man content as well, like titan egi holding one of the adds on titan ex. Just some small stuff and maybe strategy if your raid includes a summoner.

Its true garuda is best for dps, but sometimes you go ifrit for the stun. In this case you could go titan for the control. It being attached to enkindle allows the summoner to contagion then summon titan for upcoming adds spawn, then swiftcast garuda back after enkindle is gone.

For Titan to be useful outside solo content, he would need something equivalent to Provoke so that if everything is going to crap and you summon emergency Titan, he could actually take aggro. There are lots of reasons why this won't happen, primary among this being that Titan was never intended to tank outside of solo content.

I would love to see titan's earthen ward spread to nearby allies, similar to how radiant shield does. I think this would give titan a lot more utility other than being a living stoneskin.

Ehh titan egi works fine in a lot of dungeons. So it's not solo use only really.

And healers can just setup a tagreting filter that targets pets only and it makes it a breeze to heal.

But yeah the one skill titan egi lacks is provoke.

Titan egi saved my party ass many times, like take one of blue/green adds on Bismarck when one tank fall or missing, he is good at mobs spawns, If he had provoke would be overpowerd and using him in tank swap mechanics in high end contents.

Personally I usually just focus target on the Summoner's Egi for most 4 man dungeon content (obviously this doesn't apply to Midas or Void Ark) and throw a diurnal sect aspected benefict it's whenever I see it's taking damage.

On topic, I'm currently leveling ACN, and I just got Topaz carbuncle so take my comments here with a bit of skepticism. But I feel like Topaz (and Titan respectively) should generate a little bit more emnity overall, and that perhaps have a sort of passive that if any enemy attacks their Summoner both of them will use a form of provoke to pull that enemy off of their Summoner.

NOTE: This provoke that Titan-Egi/Topaz Carbuncle would be able to do should NOT be a power that the Summoner can actively make them do in Obey mode, it should just be a passive ability both of them possess

In ffxi beastmaster got a move called snarl which gave all the masters enmity to the pet. I think SMN needs something like that, cause the sad fact is, a SMN generates more enmity than Titan does unless they hold back, and if your pet dies and you resummon it, due to a lack of provoke it's never gonna get hate off you again. This would fix both those issues without being really broken since compared to other players SMN doesn't generate that much enmity anyway.

Actually, doing a bit of testing, if you let Titan get in a couple strikes then it is hard for you to pull aggro from it. However if you summon it after striking the enemy, it will not be able to pull anything off of you. It's great at holding on to what aggro it has... not so great at gaining new aggro.

Im gonna take this one step further. What if this skill involved spending stacks to give the pet instant enmity towards its current target? I say pet, because you would ideally use this on titan, but maybe not!

I can't say I see this as a bad thing. In group content, tanking is someone else's role.

In general, I'm opposed to this suggestion almost solely due to how annoying this could be to those tanking as well as it's potential for abuse.
