I didn't watch the LL , but from the summary post in reddit:

I already got 12 specialist crystal sitting in my inventory, looks like its time to start to save up RS again, seems the new set will be shared gear

What does "crafter's item level cap" even mean? I assume that we might be able to make 340 gear, but it's not very clear.

3.4 is what, August?

MAYBE coming? Jesus they really really want RMTs to be successful.

HQ to NQ in bulk? Don't we already have this?

I'm guessing october personally.

That means the crafting gear you have now will get an upgrade in 3.3 ...

Given the amount of melding needed to do 3 stars with current i170 and i180 crafting gear, I suspect the new stuff will be 3 star difficulty. The question is whether it will be Specialist only or if anyone can make it. I could see SE going either way on that one, unfortunately.

To me, their stance on specialist recipes is pretty much: "Specialist requirement for the current difficulty [3-star], requirement removed for the previous difficulty [2-star]"

Depending on how many items will be upgraded, whether it's just left side gear [Head, Body, Hands, Legs, Feet], or if they'll be upgrading main/offhand tools and accessories as well.
If it's just left side gear, then LTW/WVR will spike in popularity, since they make the majority of the current 2-star DoH left side gear. [36 out of the 61 2-star DoH recipes]
If it'll also upgrade both tools, BSM will become relevant again, at it makes most of the current 2-star tools [11 out of 16 tools]
New accessories would keep CRP/GSM relevant.

I felt like I was wasting a lot just by buying one to get rid of alchemist.

Shared gear would suck imo. Please no repeat of Artisan's Apron.

There is both good and bad with shared gear.

Good : less gear to meld!

Bad : no visual distinction between classes.

I don't understand why they don't just get rid of over melds if they have such a hang up that a player needs to do it instead of an NPC as if it makes a difference.

because I have nothing else to buy , too lazy to do my own favour farming. I could buy the favour mats and use my RS to make 170 for sale but it's moving slow and the profit is not that good. My retainer sort is better off to list something else

I must have missed it in world but which NPC can meld for you? Is it the one of the two friends of Mutamix in Idyllshire who doesn't exchange Mhachi matter?

Two-star DoH/DoL recipes were not specialist-only, nor did they use specialist components. My read on that is that they want to give us the ability to be self-sufficient within DoH/DoL jobs even if DoW/DoM gear, cosmetics, and housing items are restricted. Plus, crafting your own gear upgrades is just as central to DoH/DoL gameplay as pillaging dead bosses is to the fighting part of the game.

Assuming they just give us new recipe books (as opposed to say, making us turn in demimateria or making us buy untradable components with scrips or something), I think it is reasonable to assume that it will probably be just like the ilvl 170 gear: tradable, non-specialist gear with the same crafting requirements as other three-star gear.

More room in my Armory Chest. OMG it gets full quickly having both gatherer and crafter specialized gear along with my adventuring gear.

you may want to re-read that op

via red scrips does not mean via red scrip tokens.. best we can have will be 450 scrips when new stuff lands.

there is no way they will allow us to stock pile for months in advance to just get the new gear the day its released after forcing us to gear up weekly all this time.

as for souls, well unless you plan on changing your spec multiple times then they are mostly worthless but that being said its nice to have that flexiblty if its needed.

another things we should all take note in is we will either need to be fully 2* capable if not 3* specialists to get the new items. 2* for most shouldnt be an issue by now but getting 3* for alot of crafters seems like to big a hill to climb.

given how they have segmented crafters into specialists it would be kinda weird to have a unilateral set again as it would mean with souls we could just change spec at a drop of a hat with no real consequence after gearing up.

Also a little note, I am pretty sure they mentioned the next set of gear is going to be crafted. Not exchanged like it was done with the i180 gear.

So I take it it's by straight scrips and not RS tokens? It'd be nice to get proper clarification because I don't want to be hoarding RS tokens and then learn that they're all but useless. And I would personally prefer shared gear, maybe not for all but like if ARM and BSM shared and LTW and WVR shared, at least it lessens the grind.

Likewise I REALLY hope the next tier, if crafted, are 2-star and not 3. 3-star crafters are a dime a dozen, but most of us are 2-star crafters so it's more realistically possible.
