Since it's already been stated that selling land is not allowed: After a plot is relinquished it is not available for purchase until a random amount of time (say between 12 and 36 hours) has elapsed. There, Fixed.

You don't seem to know how housing is sold. Not explaining the process in case it's against the rules but a simple google search will yield easy results.
This solves only half of the sales and is still a band-aid solution over the original predicament.
Apparently I don't. I probably shoulda looked it up. I was under the assumtion they both just sat by the house and he snapped it up as soon as it went free. Also I appreciate you being courteous and not instantly jumping to name calling and negativity as most of this forum's population is wont to do.
If they did do that, some people would still attempt to "sell their house" in an attempt to scam the naive or misinformed. 'Cause they can. 9_9
It would work for personal housing but fc housing would still be an issue. They should:
Give players back 80% of their money back 3 days after agreeing to return their house to the grand company the plot belongs to. (Day 0 sell house, Day 3 reconfirm the sale to help prevent scamming.)
FCs can only transfer with a house in their possession if the previous GM stays in the FC for 1 week after the new GM has been appointed. The old GM cannot transfer GM status unless they have been the GM for 1 month or longer. The old GM cannot be banned or leave the FC until the week is up. If you would like to transfer the FC more quickly, you may demolish the plot for 80% of its value then the set restrictions will not apply.
Housing demolished this way will be destroyed as OP and other's before have suggested at a random time between 12-36 hours.
Make it clear upon log on for 3.3 and before each purchase thereafter that buying and selling plots is a bannable offense.
Don't make it random.
Just implement a no-buy time of 10 days after a release during which the house will appear as "available soon" on boards.
+ add a board of open plots / soon-to-be-auto-released (less than 10 days before auto release) plots so people can know when to come to have a chance to buy.
Well thank you, I didn't post it earlier because some people objected it'd be a who's-the-quickest-to-click fest, but I'd rather have this than a who's-the-most-nolife/lucky-fest :D
At least with this everybody has a chance !
Reinfeld if you agree with this extension of your initial idea, maybe you could edit your first post as an alternative idea so it's more visible to people ?
I would prefer if there were not more hard time locked things in the game. Eternal bond reservation, the initial opening of the new wards, getting a lot of tournament points in triple triad, and a few other things already rely on waking up or being available at a certain time (usually 3-6 am for me personally) and is then first come first serve.
With the random relinquish at least it is a bit random and does not prioritize people who have the time to camp a specific area.
However this will also severely harm people who want to give houses to Fcs/friends without pay, just a donation. I know of quite a few people who gave houses to friends or Fcs they want to see successful with no charge
On one hand everyone knowing a set time is a good thing, giving them all a chance. The downside is that it will likely lead to a toxic environment rather quickly with groups of people trying to overload people so they dc, opening trade on people that forget to /busy beforehand, putting huge mounts over the placard and a negative chat environment trying to dissuade others from taking the plot they want.
Well then maybe you can report them.
But indeed it'd need precautions ^^
As for legit donation, I hope they would implement such a system before locking out for a few days after a relinquish.
Currently, if you relinquish land, it goes up for sale immediately. For the abandoned after 45 days thing I believe there is a random timer after the 45 day that makes it go up.
The issue with the 45 days thing is that people literally have to camp the aetheryte for a chance that may never happen.
Also restricting how many houses account can hold would fix some of the problems... I can already see how many plots will be bought by alts of rich crafters who already own multiple houses between their alts.
Agree with you 100% Samaeliza. At the moment we have a system that is unnecessarily punitive to people who take breaks, but at the same time there is no limit on the number of houses one person can own.
To clarify what I mean by 'punitive': I've no problem with unused houses being reclaimed, since housing is in such short supply, but some furniture breaking on removal and then putting the surviving contents onto a timer too, seems excessively harsh.
One house per server, per account would be fair to everyone as long as that house could be shared by the owner's alts.
Whats the use of buying houses on alts though? Trust me i have the money to do so, But i don't see the point.
1. In my honest opinion, its very unfair for the other people as we have a limited amounts of houses to begin with.
2. I rather spend money on making someone else happy instead buying a house on a alt i rarely use lol, i did buy my brother a house/fc a house. But For the love of god, What is the use of a house on a alt i would not even log in on a daily or weekly basis.
Sure some people spend more time on their alts but still, Why be greedy in this circumstance? Am i really that stupid or naive to rather be homeless on my alt so there would be one more happy house owner in the geme?
