Considering version 1.0 of FFXIV had belts with their own unique appearance, only for that to be scrapped in the changeover to ARR (SE stated this was because having belts with it's own unique appearance actually limited the designs of gear that could be implemented due to clipping issues), it's pretty obvious capes will never be added into this game for the same reason I'm sorry to say.
Really, if SE were going to add capes into this game, they would have done so when ARR was in development.
I wish we got capes. The Odin armor glamour just doesn't feel complete without the long billowing cape that he has. I wish that armor had it at least.
pld now has ugly butt capes.... but really with all the clipping that would cause.... no thanks...
I hate butt capes... though dont mind keeping the old pld creed pants for glamors in the future.
The curass butt cape.................. omg no thanks
PS3 limitation.
Red Mage possibly, otherwise...well, I wouldn't say never but if we don't even get it for Red Mage artifact gear then is a slim possibility.
The i185 BRD/MCH, MNK, and NIN sets have capes. They're not free-flowing (since SE already addressed the issue with clipping and physics), but they did compromise and put rudimentary capes on some gear.
Well after you got the obligatory instant "no" that always starts off any thread in here .............
Capes would be great but only if they improved the appearance and the movement of cloth to suit them, as of now they would be clipping everywhere and the bottom would probably be suspended a foot outward lol
If that improved then capes would be ok imo
till ps3 surpport is droped physics wont be good enougth for it....
rather than capes id like to have sheats for swords ect i always found it kinda sad that there none in mmos
I wouldn't mind capes in the same way XI gave us capes... Equipment that isn't visible...
What? It's better than having two ring slots and exclusive rings... No one else sick of going "This ring is perfect, shame my second ring wont be as good"? Take i240 DEX Rings for example... Crit/Det? Perfect. Then you basically have to go with Acc/SkS... Or you can have two Lore rings, one upgraded and one not, but then that's i240/i230... Trade that second Ring for a Cape, though? Perhaps the Lore Cape has shitty stats, the Midan Cape would have different stats though...
Ugh to what point?
Capes would only look good on a few classes, Paladins and Bards come to mind. But yea i want wings for my Dragoon when she jumps! Or Angel wings when i heal on my whm...wait wrong game.
Tail clipping intensifies.
I'd prefer cloaks to capes

Lightning attire seems to imply no capes. Only shit from waist down.
Capes or cloaks would be cool... but I forsee instantaneous forum hate for all the clipping issues that would be sure to occur. We have yet to figure out skirts and dresses.
Clipping....
I'd prefer that they do very long hair before adding capes. Kosmos wants properly (very) long so she can have what I call 'shield hair', more generally called the "Hime cut" (or the Princess cut). Essentially long straight hair that covers your neck, back and butt. Which makes a pretty good vanity shield if you're wearing something short, hence "shield hair".
KOS-MOS demonstrates what I mean...

But, yes, I would like to see capes as well as long hair, but someone will (if they haven't already) point to the clipping issues we already have with long flowing robes/dresses, which would be undeniably worse with capes and very long hair.
I want to have capes so I can glamour mine to look like the butterfly wings from The Lost City of Amdapor (Hard). I didn't know that what I needed was to be a tank with butterfly wings but I know it now.
I'd like to see capes added to the game. If they are never added it wouldn't hurt my feelings though. I saw a few people were stating, "PS3 limitations..." Well, while I do agree that the PS3 does hold the game back, I don't think I can agree that the PS3 can't handle capes. Look at DC Universe Online. There are clipping issues, yes, but those clipping issues are easy to overlook and ignore. At least in my opinion.
I feel like if they introduced capes we'd see a 200% increase in Saitama glamours everywhere...
I'd only like it if there was one called the "S Cape" which lowered the cooldown for Sprint.
Hohohohoho...
I'd rather get some sleeve physics first (since a cape would need physics to avoid looking stiff. Most outfits we have currently only have physics on the bottom half)

PS3 limitations make me sad. :c
If they add capes, they will be attached to specific pieces of gear.
Capes are extremely complicated to program and manage as regards clipping issues. Especially when characters have tails, they can just look weird. They'd have to add collision models to so many different pieces that the graphical load from adding them would make an R9 FuryX card cry.
Why are people so obsessed with capes? Please, let the devs focus on making GOOD and ORIGINAL content so they don't keep being distracted with useless crap.
IF there are ever capes (I hope not), I demand a "hide capes on ALL" option.
It's nothing wrong having a conversation about it, since many other suggestions run around on the boards that could be a improvement to the game.
No need to be overly negative about it.
I use the Creed Armor as glamor, slapped Dalamund Red on them (leaving the headpiece white) and swapped the boots for Ironworks Fending ones, also with Dalamund Red.
It doesn't look too bad.
No capes please. Hair / tail clipping is already awful enough.
They'd have to be attached to the chest piece. Closest thing we have now is the paladin esoteric gear, it flows nicely.
