It's a Japanese holiday event. It's a bit like April Fools and they try to see how gullible people are.

In reality "This world is currently experiencing unusually heavy traffic" translates to "we reduced server capacity to save money"

It's the people who aren't playing anyway who'll be leaving. Hell, I'm unemployed and this still doesn't put a dent in my economy..

I agree only the people who can't pay or wont pay would be leaving and i say good we don't need them requesting for stuff that they not going to stay around and pay to make it happen.

A lot of people would stay but we going to lost a big % then get a lot back around 1.21-1.25 and big % at 2.0 then a big % would leave when a new mmo come out that they like better then ffxiv.

I wish SE would just merge the servers. I rather get a too full to enter sign every now and then than to walk into empty areas.

That would be detrimental in the long run, especially in the process of rebuilding the game as well as working on new server infrastructure.

I'm not sure what you mean...Besaid is one of the most populated servers. There are no empty areas here.

Really? i saw many people quit besaid in join other worlds and selbina being one of them. Last time i was on that world it was empty i guess RP is picking up :) good to hear.

To wit, I literally just rerolled from Besaid to Selbina yesterday and there was a pretty noticeable difference in population. Both the cities and the field areas were noticeably more populated than I'm used to seeing.

I am curios as to what amount of players you are basing your assumptions on. I play on besaid, and I always se alot of players everywhere I go.All 3 main cities have a constant population. I never have rouble making groups.

Define "noticable more". Does that mean you counted the amount of players in an area on both servers? or Does it mean you feel like one server had more players in a specific area then another, to help your inner mind justify to yourself that your server change was a good idea, and you project that upon us in the forums to assist in again confirming your own justification?

I or anyone for that matter, can sit here on the forums and post claims that item or situation X seemed noticably more Y then item or situation Z. That by no means makes anything even remotely accurate.

Not to mention that some servers can easily tend to have higher population at certain times of the day then others. Thats just a logical tendency. Untill you have enough time invested on both servers, and take some actual counts, its hard to give any value to a post that says things like "litterally just changed" and "noticably". If you iterallyjust changed, then its doubtfull you have experienced both peak and low population times, not to mention unlikely that you have been to enough areas to compare populations in the more rural areas of the game so to speak .

I like this game don't get me wrong but depending on what server your on varies ffxiv in general doesn't have that many subscriber's so that why there so forth coming in interview's and all the thanks for the support from SE. I mean whatever calm's your mind on this certain subject but the fact remain's SE is lacking on the number's and are doing everything they can to boost those number's.

Actually the more likely scenario is "we reduced server capacity to give you all that extra inventory space".

Why does everyone on the forums have to be rude people? i had a char there and i had lot's of people who reroll join my linkshell in the pass few weeks so i go by what they have told me and what what i saw when i made a char there. I never said it was RP only but that the reason people join don't know if that still the reason but i know there a lot of RP there not saying that a bad thing..

I love the conspiracy theories on this thread, so I thought I'd add one of my own:

Someone at Square Enix is secretly trying to push NA and European players off of Selbina because it was named an "unofficial Japanese server prior to launch", and so they are imposing tighter restrictions on the number of players connecting with those clients.
Switch to a JP client and you can get around the queue!!! OMG racism!

I was not being rude, you are making false assumptions to accuse me of being so. I checked, and saw zero evidence of your existance on a server that you were commenting on. What part of my comment was rude?

Not to mention, some would consider it rude, that you are portraying our server as empty or only having role players, which could steer new players from selecting our server. Either way your assumptions are incorrect, and negative comments toward the servers population were uneccissary.

I've noticed quite a large boost in player population on Besaid. But I picked Besaid when it first opened, just because and then facepalmed when I found out it was the unofficial RP server. Still, gives me something to chuckle at here and there.

I did the same thing Kopuno, but I only played for a couple weeks before going back to FFXI. All my friends lol'd when they found out I had started on that server with some RL buddies, I regretted it a lot lol.. But started a new character on Lindblum about 3 months ago, and really enjoying the game now. Lindblum too has had a really big increase in players recently, lots of people crowding Ul'dah.

"you talking out of your ear hole" I find that rude but i did not mean anything by it what i said besaid is known to be a RP server and i was thinking maybe more people joining there to RP. Seeing how the last time i was there it was empty. No need to get offended if they add dungeon finder we all be one big server doing event together :) I did not mean your server was empty in that way just saying it good to hear that servers are getting full.
