Adventurer's with an appetite...

As a long time FFXI player, when I first started playing back in 2010 I was always of the mindset that using food in group content was the thing to do. I've continued doing so, and, on occasion, use food, for the buffs, even while doing solo content.

My question is, what food do you use, or do you not use food at all? ø.Øa

I use food for more challenging content like raids or extreme trials, but that's about it. Your average dungeon run and simpler content, I go without.

I only eat food for raids, and maybe eat some terrible quest reward food if I'm leveling a lower level class for the exp boost.

Baked Pipira Pira for raiding; random cheapo NPC guff (e.g. Boiled egg) for leveling

outside of crafting I'm not using any buff food

Best food for raid only.
Cheap thing I gather for the extra 3% exp solo.

If I need exp, I'll always be eating.
During endgame raids I'll keep food on.
And sometimes, rarely, I'll chug something to cheese a high level crafting requirement.

If I'm just out doing whatever, not netting exp, then I don't particularly use any food.

I keep the random cheap stuff I might get from ventures for extra 3% exp for leveling.

Depending on my crafting/gathering needs I may eat HQ food for those occasions.

When I raided, HQ only.

I used Deep-Fried Okeanis for my DRK when I ran Seph EX. May not be the ideal food but its what I could easily make at the time and had spare ingredients when leveling. However for the most part I don't eat unless its a raid or Extreme primal where every little helps.

Steamed staff when I raid. Baked onion soup or seafood stew when I craft. Apples when I'm leveling.

Oddly enough, you can't eat in The Feast.
They should have called it The Starved.

I want to see foods with some primary stats besides just vitality. Secondaries have such a small impact you don't really notice whether you've got food or not.

High-level foods definitely have an impact; if you have enough of the main food stat that it caps out the food bonus, its about as good as having a decent pentamelded i220 crafted accessory instead of a Prototype i220 (for a DPS/heal; little better for tanks with the VIT the food adds). Think about that.

Accuracy food can also make-or-break raiding, if you're below cap (or are a healer), and the VIT bonus can really be useful in progression raiding


As for me, because my accuracy is bouncing around everywhere with every new piece of gear, I'll use either Grilled Sweetfish, Baked Pipira Pira or Cockatrice Meatballs (need to meld my CUL to make Steamed Staff :( ) for raiding. Crafting, I'll pop whatever the least expensive food is I need to do the craft. If I remember it, I'll use some trash food I bought for a few gil off the MB to boost XP when leveling too.

Night Milk for leveling. Only for the 3% EXP.

For dungeons I always pop a Button Mushroom Saute for any class. Its a nice little boost and and cheap to buy from the pillar, so no need to save the food.

Since everything is 60 now, I only usually use food on DoH/DoLs when the extra stats are absolutely required to get something done.

Although lately, taking accuracy food solely for healer classes is becoming a thing...
