Being Colour Blind and the Speed of it when 4 eggs. I ended up having to Record it with my Cell phone to Complete it.
My husband took 5 tries before using my method.
I went the cheap way out. I took a pen and paper. I wrote:
W:
Y:
BLU:
BLA:
Each time a color went past, I wrote a line corresponding to each color. Was a 1/1 win lol...
I'm sorry to hear about that.
I suggest doing the other Quests if you don't like this particular one :D
I just do the Fate and Egg Benedict one.
Much more time efficient.
Overall that quest is wasting time, I prefer chasing Benedict Egg.
However you need to do each of the quests once to get the barding. I'm glad you managed it. I'm sorry it was so hard. ><
This one gave me an awful time too. I couldn't get it till I got one with 5 black and 1 of everything else.
Heard similar complaints about the scramble. Some options were given (taking notes, recording on phone, only counting the same 3 colors as the medium one, so you know then whatever is left to make 8 is the newest color, etc.) and hopefully those people were able to do it to get their barding.
As for camping a bunch of eggs to buy the goods, the Egg Benedict was the fastest for me. Camp NW of Whistling Miller so you see it coming down the hall from the Falls. Start running away from it as it is coming towards you. If it stops anywhere close, tag it. If for some reason you don't make it use the quick port to Lancer Guild and watch as it comes from the market area and do the same thing.
If you can snag it in time by the Miller, there is enough time to turn it in, grab quest again, port to Lancer and wait again if you are quick enough. If successful at Lancer, port back to turn in and wait again by Miller. Was able to quickly get what I needed.
Yeah, I had trouble with the last one too. Tiny opening for them to run through and some end up doubling up. Even recording it I still got it wrong twice because the colors blended in the video
Uh... I am totally blind in one eye, and legally blind in the other. I solved all three on the first try? What I did was assign each egg a number and type said numbers into notepad. Then it was just a matter of counting the numbers when done.
Here's what I did! It helped me a ton.
I play on the PC so I opened up Notepad, and made myself a 'key':
1 was white, 2 was blue, 3 yellow and 4 black.
I put the open notepad in the area that the text box for the game would normally appear and placed a hand with fingers on then 1 through 4 keys.
I started the game and put the notepad to the front and hit the keys as the egg went by. I then just counted the number of 1's, 2's etc... It made life so much easier!
Glad I'm not the only one, having issues with something that really shouldn't take more then 2-3 try.
It's Just SE has done so much to help colour blind and Deaf people with the Visual Audio. It's odd that they have over sites on things like this. I don't think it would have been an issue if the egg was always on the side of the camera but when it was behind the spriggan and only a bit showing I couldn't tell the pattern on the egg in the short time.
I used my fingers for the last one with 8 spriggans: raise left hand pinkie side for white, left hand thumb side for blue, right hand thumb side for red and right hand pinky side for black
(palm facing away from me, I wonder why I did that)
The last fast bunch I read them out in my head before adding to fingers
Had a hard time with this one but eventually got it with guesswork.
Benediction egg is definitely the easiest of the 3 if you approach it the right way. (Don't endlessly chase it, that's what they want you to do)
All of you guys who wrote stuff down - how on earth did you have the time? I put my fists in front of me and popped a finger for yellow or white egg on a corresponding hand. For the remaining two I nodded and said it out loud. So I remembered what I said out loud and how many times I nodded. I was so frustrated because it took me some time to focus lol.. Also, it won't matter how you approach it if you are colour blind. It will still suck. I feel for the OP. I don't think the point of this thread is what is fastest or easiest to farm, rather that this quest doesn't like colour blind people much. Or just people with seeing issues.
I had a scrap of paper to which I drow a rough 2x2 grid (basically a cross dividing the area to four) and decided which corner is which. Then holding pen near the center, I just tapped whatever mark to correct areas when the eggs went past. Ended up with sort of ticks/squicklys.
slow eyes and almost non existent short term memory made me use Gyazo played back very slowly LOL ><
Like someone posted previously, the easiest way to do this is to completely ignore the color Black. Treat it like Medium difficulty.
- There are always 8 Spriggans in total.
- Count the number of White, Blue, and Yellow that go by. Ignore Black.
- Memorize them, use paper, or count them out loud like (1, 0, 0) (1, 1, 0) (2, 1, 0) (2, 1, 1) <-- In the order of White, Blue, Yellow.
- If you got 2 White, 1 Blue, and 1 Yellow you know that the remaining 4 have to be Black without even having to count them.
Works like a charm. Should ace it every time with a few trial runs.
I stared at the middle of the screen and and added a number for each color in my head.
Farming the fates is much faster you get 2 eggs for just turning in 5 and they spawn like every 3 minutes and are easily spotted/campable
I don't have any view problem and got all 3 right on the first try. The NPC told me I was advantaged because I'm a Miqo'te. I didn't know NPC could rage.
I used shadowplay to make a quick recording.
A FC mate said it was too easy for him without cheating and then I felt bad!
Yeah this also gave me a lot of trouble, I eventually got it, now I just farm the fate.
Paper worked fine for me the last part was a little bit difficult because four spriggans run across at the same time but I managed to add them on correctly. It's easier to do it at daytime. Night makes the blue and black eggs blend a bit.
tired counting... got about half way & lost count, let somehow won on 1st try buy shear fluke quessing, totally didn't do that again after just did the delivery 1 till I had enouf for the song scroll (which I'll never play/use)
I had trouble with it as well. I decided to just not do it, even if it means not getting the barding. I don't really care for that barding anyway.
So what is the problem with it except for colorblind people which I understand ofc.
That you cannot finish it on 1st try? We finally get something different from fates and fetch quests for seasonal events and people can't handle it.
I guess we really don't deserve anything new.
I'm guessing the problem for many is that they can't remember so many things without being able to rehearse the pattern. 8 things to remember is above some people's short term memory capacity (including mine, I have trouble writing down phone numbers if they are said in one go), the average being 7. You can't go back to memorize again because the order is different each time. The people who are not familiar with short term memory techniques (such as repeating the sequence in your head or grouping) will obviously struggle with no way to practice the sequence. Also the last wave is very fast which can cause the information to slip past the eyes. You can't remember something you didn't have time to recognize. Colourblindness is not the only biological limitation which can affect your success.
The egg hunt and spriggan dodging allow you to try the same problem over and over whilst learning from your mistakes. You can improve over time with practice. If the memory quest had the same pattern until you got it right it would likely be more popular.
Then don't. I didn't both trying to remember what I saw, I just reacted to it.
Stare at one spot, raise fingers on one hand for white, the other for blue and say 'one' 'two' etc out loud for yellow. The only thing you have to remember is what number you said out loud previously. You don't need to keep track in your head as the info is stored on your hands, and you don't need to count black as that will just be what's left over after you've put in the first three answers.
Mentally processing stuff will just slow you down. It's like reading - if you want to do it fast, you don't let your inner voice narrate it inside your head, you just scan the words.
I appreciate that learning difficulties are a thing but it's not like you have to remember an unknown amount with no min/max limits on each egg. You can do it and you only have to do it once. Other games in the final fantasy series have had challenges that are more difficult to some than others - I for example really struggle with steering a chocobo in chocobo racing, but I could dodge lightning in FFX for hours. A mini game shouldn't be altered just because you aren't in your element; that's why you are given plenty of time to retry if you need to.
And if all else fails, do what I did for the FFX remiem temple chocobo race and the butterfly collecting - make someone else do it.
I scribbled letters on a piece of paper. lol
b = blue
y = yellow
w= white
x = dark
My memory is typically good enough for something like this, but I was pretty sleep deprived when I did it.
