Be nice, really. Not sure how hard it would be to program, but I'd probably do it if it was an option. And it didn't lock me out of everything I already unlocked with MSQ progression before doing it all again.
Back when I was playing Defiance I finished the main story and they added a way to start over and do the whole thing again.
But if you just want to re-watch CS there is the Unending Journey you can use and see your PC in the cutscenes.
Think this has been asked before, or at least I recall seeing a similar thread. I agree, but no idea how they would implement such a thing. You can re-watch cutscenes at an inn to see them with your new face but it's not quite the same as doing it all in the moment.
doesnt the inn cutscene thign only show the big moments though? like there's a lot of in between conversation thats important to the plot but not included?
The amount of experience given in the MSQ is enough to level a new character until level 50 so I recommend just making a new character. It's no different than replaying it on your main and as a bonus you get to do everything at level appropriate gear.
Correct, a lot ends up missing.
That said, starting over fresh on a new character is actually really fun, especially if you go to a new server. With the Novice Network you've automatically got a group of folks to talk to, and since you know what you're doing, you'll breeze through the early levels. You catch things you missed the first time around. I have half a dozen alts, and I learn something new each time I start over again.
there have been so many amazing solo story instances. It would be nice if SE added a solo roulette, or allowed us to just replay those instances for fun.
The solo fight in 3.2 was really fun and I would love to re-do it lol.
It's needed for sure, and they have the perfect way to allow you to recreate those little memories. It's always been there.
The Wandering Minstrel
He's always allowed us to redo things we have already done...in his own flare (savages, hard mode in the case of Ultima.) Why not improve on that and allow you to go back and redo said story fights and job quests. The way to do it lore wise is there...just the implementation of it might prove to be the issue, taking development time away from something else...
Being able to fight again some of the battles in job quests or main scenario would be indeed really nice, it's some easy content you already made. Would be even more awesome if instead of capping lev and equip you'd increase the challenge to current item lev cap, that would require a bit of work tho so I would be totally happy even just playing it over only for lore/memories!
I endorse this 100%
After awhile, when theres nothing more to do, when you already finished the hardests raids, or done every little thing. Sometimes, you just want to go back and enjoy certain parts of the story again or just replay it without losing everything or making a new character and grinding it out.
I wouldn't even mind if it turned out to be something you have to buy at the mogstation.
I was thinking the exact thing today. Making a new character to see the story is painful... I want to do the story over again but with ability to have all the teleports, mounts, and gear so I can blow through it quickly. The INN doesn't cut it because it only gives you the major CS... lots of stuff is skipped in the middle.
I recently started a new character and made it trough the level 5 MSQ. I loved the story again because I can't remember a lot of it and I can't see myself making it all the way through the story just because of things like leveling, getting gear... and sitting in queues...
