Coming into its Own [How are you faring with it?]

I'm curious if anyone else is doing the Relic Quest in 3.2 with the new ilvl weapons being 220 - 240 now and clearly with better stats and if so how are they faring?

Currently I'm super busy with my job so I can't spend many hours doing the raids, dungeons, and BT Quests as much as I like so I have to take it nice and slow as I want to complete the new Relic Quest line.

I've gotten 20 out of 80 of the needed items to collect and so far gotten one of my crafts to level 60, but it's CUL, so it will be a while before I can make the HQ Items for the Relic but considering they're non-Specialist recipes now I assume their prices dropped quite a bit?

Sadly it seems like Malboro is one of the few servers where skyrockets the prices... I've seen lv55 gear HQ priced at 200k and no one biting.

Anyway you guys plan on working on the Relic when the next upgrade happens and have the Relic ready for the next step or are you just dropping it altogether?

I don't know about the rest of the community on Faeirie which is my server but I still plan on working on the relic they may or are planning to update it so it will be nice to be prepared. Besides if you got all DOW DOM lvled it'll give you time to get those relics for those classes. Cheers and Faerie is a bit costly as well for items required as well so you're not alone but it's either level crafters and gatherers or pay an outrageous price.

That's why I level all of my classes so I can do a little of everything and help others in case they need a certain job to provide a task they need. Also need to meld Materia on my own and crafting high level gear too.

I farm the tokens as a side project but I still think the 4 HQ items per quest item is excessive, SE really didn't listen about making it less grindy. As far as I'm concerned it should have been 1 normal quality item and 10 tokens per quest item instead.

With the new way to get Materia Vs I had enough money to get the HQ items and some to spare still. Not a lot but better then when I was doing the Zodiac.

That said I got it in my head somehow that it was just ten of each of the tokens...on the bright side all my Beast Tribes are read to go if I really just want to do that instead of finishing the Vath/Ixali ones. Plus Alexander can get my DRK some work on its mount progress.

If nothing else around the time people can get their weapons and aren't doing savage, the next steps will be out. Whether the current steps will be eased up in any way I have no idea.

Yeah, finishing it as a side project currently when im not doing anything else. I hope to have it ready when the next update to the quest hits, so that i can get back into it and continue making it better. Not being able to see the final form it/its stats take in advance, it feels like a good idea to be partway into it, just incase it ends up being really good at the end.

I got my Nothung last week and very nice it looks too.

Well with 3.25 right around the corner did SE mention anything making the last step of the first part of the Animus easier or no? I only got 31/80 items collected and I don't have a lot of time on my hand so I can only do what I can for the moment until I get all 80 items and then the 4 HQ items of 4 different kinds of items.

Also what do you guys think the next part will be like? Easier or worse than the first part of the Animus weapon?

We'll see when the patch notes come tonight. I'm currently leaning to no changes to the current steps, with a small side of hope that the Unidentified items are reduced to 10 each instead of 20. If that happens I assume the HQ items would be reduced to 2 each.

I honestly don't know what the next part will be like, but from what I've heard 3.3 will be the one were we can fiddle with the stats (and no Alexandrites to worry about.) I'm currently saving Materia just in case for that.

I do hope they reduce the items needed... they're not hard to get just tedious and too many.

I wouldn't mind a questline that's easy to get the Relic weapon like the first part of the Zodiac Weapon and then do optional quests that's part of the Relic to added in special abilities and customize your own stats and the like but they are long to do as you need to do and collect a lot of stuff and perform some challenges too to forge your ideal Relic Weapon. Not Raid-Tier challenge but close enough. Just an idea I had where the Relic became more "legendary" and sought-out as you require the help of friends (which makes it go faster to complete) to make it or your can do it solo (but takes like 2 to 3 times longer to make).

I mean you're building your own ideal legendary weapon... surely it should become the top weapon after all the hardwork, effort, and time you put into. Raid Weapons should remain powerful, yes, because they're from the highest difficulty content in the game, but Raid Weapons are more "easier" to get and faster too where Relic Weapons should be the weapon that's the ultimate weapon... like the FFXI Relic Weapons I hear where it remained the strongest weapon in the game (apart from the last patches I hear). Just my thoughts on it.


Let's hope that the next part is a bit "lax", but I doubt it. I wonder why there's no preview Patch Notes at the moment.

Pretty bs grind for players who doesn't have time in their hands.

Ah... it really is a long grind and I'm still working on it. So far I've gotten 45/80 Tokens collected and 0/16 HQ Items (my server doesn't have a lot of the MB and seem to be SUPER expensive... well I only have a little over 1 million Gil so I can't buy all of the items without going broke and not hitting Lv60 on all my crafts).

I have gotten 4/5 Aether Oil for the next step and come Tuesday I'll be ready for it... just grinding for tomes and BT Quests is making this very mind numbing for me. Even though I'm playing everything else, PVP, Roulettes, BT Quests, TT, Chocobo Racing... I'm so bored out of my mind. Perhaps I should take a break, but this isn't becoming fun anymore.

But I want to get my NIN Relic and I will get it. At least the Zodiac Relic was fun and not as mind-numbingly as boring as the Anima Relic.

Finished relic pretty quick honestly. Been doing PVP and eso there is a bonus lol(Doing it for the mount not for the eso) But yeah... Saving up for a 2nd relic now probably :-)

I really need to start saving that as well - I was selling it all to help fund the Coming into its Own step, but then got lucky with a couple music drops and surged ahead of what I needed to buy them outright (agree with Kiba, Faerie's prices are still floating pretty high...they didn't really budge at all after the specialist change as apparently happened on other servers)...still selling well enough and used that to fund some other music I wanted and a minion.

Might keep selling for another week or two, then begin the stockpiling process.

Of course, if it turns out they aren't needed and everyone else did the same thing...bye bye materia market for a while.

As for the step itself, about halfway through the tokens. Didn't do much progress (basically, none) through most of January and part of February from spending a lot more time in some other games before refocusing my efforts here. Still being fairly casual about it, I expect to finish by the end of April...

Would be sooner, but I know I'm gonna binge Dark Souls 3 when it comes out so that's up to a week of probably beast tribe quests only in this game.

26/80 after 10 days of grinding 5-6hrs a night M-F and at least 8 hours Sat/Sun.

It is quite the chore... not fun at all to get.

I got 48/80 Tokens so far, still nothing on the mats, and I've gotten 4/5 of the Aether Oils done.

The ilvl210 step is the worse one of them all, but I'm still going to finish it. Doing BT Quests and Roulettes for Tomes and Tokens and such, though I might have to do the Alex runs soon enough.

right now i have 29/80 Tokens. I have 9/16 HQ crafted items needed. An for step 4 I have 2/5 Aether Oils needed since im doing the towers since im still on step 3.

Got lucky with maps last night so now I'm only two ore away which I should have tonight.

With me taking a month or so off due to RL stuff, I finally finished my i210 MNK relic this past Sunday. I'm already at 1 oil, and after today I should be able to get two more. Considering how long it took for me with the previous step, this doesn't seem too bad. Good luck to everyone out there!!

How many drop from the Maps? I'm close to finish gathering the items except crafted ones and wondering how fast those are.

I finished my 210 white mage relic a couple of days ago and the Churning mists S rank pushed me to 1818 Esoterics to buy the last oil for 230 this morning :D

I'm on the road to getting the materials for the crafted items required for the 210 relic, but it's slow going. Between none of my crafting classes being up to snuff (highest i have is 57 on LTW) and the difficulty in acquiring the materials required (they're either hard to find, hard to make or expensive) it's going to take me a long time to get my Gandiva, even if I know people that are willing to craft the relic items themselves. And don't even get me started on the Unidentifiables.

I think that the amount of items needed should be reduced... not so much the crafted ones but 20 of each unidentified unit... especially since Alex 1-4 isn't even being queued anymore. Running dailies for Poetics/Esoterics and daily beast tribes... it's really draining.

They most likely will reduce the prices to get the items, but it would be nice on the reduction of the amount it will need. Helpfully even the Crafted Items will have lower Craftsmanship and Control needed to get the HQ items to make it easier.

I've gotten 71/80 Unidentified Items collected so far... almost done with it.

I got 6 from maps in one night, I couldn't have run more than 12-15 maps

Oh that's nice to know. I was wondering how people are doing it this maps.

I know Wyvernskin and Dragonskin Maps drop the Ore and Seeds, so which maps drop the Bones and Ores? I only need Bones now and 8 of them.

You can't get bones from maps unfortunately but you can get them with 1000 allied seals (bones and seeds can be purchased with AS, ore and shells can drop from maps).

I've used the Seals to get the Bones and Shells, but 1000 Seals is a little high. Should've been 500 at least or even have the Centurio Seals to help as well.

Well I'll eventually get all 80 items I'm almost there.

Now 56/80 and all HQ mats purchased off MB.

About 5.5 million. Void Arc weekly level 5 materias really helped out there, as well as some of the level 4 gathering ones that just a few weeks sold for big gil on my server. I got 300,000 for a level IV Gathering one, can't remember if it was Grasp or not. I twas the blue one.

Starting to lose motivation lately....it seems the grind has slowed down. When you get long runs of roulettes with no noob bonuses it can hurt.

Ah, yeah I can understand. Seeing as Materia ISN'T going to be used in the Customization for the Relic it might be a good idea to sell some Tier V Materia in the meantime.

Though I would like to craft the mats myself with my Crafting Classes, but it's still a little early for me to do it with only 4 of my classes at 60.

I can ask my FC Guildmaster who is a Master Crafter and will surely make the mats for me like they've helped with me Crafting Gear at Lv55 as well. The Diadem part is a pain, I had to use the MB to get some of those HQ mats but it's worth. Better to shelve out 1.5 Million Gil for all the mats I need to get as oppose to spending 6 - 10 million Gil on my server for the 16 HQ Crafted Items.

Done. A month + 1 or 2 days. Having beast tribes all at zero to start made it slower than it could have been.

Tomorrow with the reset I can do the CT weekly again and get my 5th oil. Hyperconductive Nothung, see you tomorrow.

10/10/17/16 5 aether oils..... jesus this step is about as bad as novus

It really isn't that bad if you just do it as a side project instead of focusing on it as a main priority. The things just accumulated over time for my second relic. Next week the ct quest will get me my fifth oil to make it a second 230. I was mostly just cashing in tomes for about the second half of the second relic.

Now the quest for #3 begins!
