Diadem relevance in patch 3.2

So we got a lot of item level 220, 230 and 240 gear coming our way from crafting, raids and tomestones.

For all of this new gear, we want a lot of grade V materia.
Diadem offers this materia now at a more favorable exchange rate.

However, it's still not attractive enough content to make a lot of people go there for a couple of reasons.

1) Brass spoils are not fun to farm and just involve endlessly killing enemies to get junky armor pieces for exchange.
2) The system isn't fair because armor pieces are allocated by random number rolls so a person can participate for the whole duration and get nothing.


Solution

In order to make the system more fair, more rewarding and to promote the completion of objectives and exploration...

Brass spoil tokens should be added to the inventories of all party members upon completion of the objectives list.

Say 5 tokens each. This way everyone makes some progress towards the next materia or item they want to buy every time they enter a mission and the exploration becomes a priority instead of pure enemy farming in one location.

I would turn the system upside down.

You get spoils for defeating NM (like hunt marks), stronger monsters -> more marks.
They can be exchanged for materia or you can spend them on a 'gear roulette': Choose you armor (like 'mage body') and buy with spoils -> get random stats+glamour.

Prices/spoildrops have to be adjusted ofc.
Getting some for the objectives would be nice, too.

Can you get Tier V materia from spiritbonding stuff?

Spiritbonding is sped up in the Diadem and now the Sky Pirate gear doesn't require specialist and isn't that hard to get the materials for if your FC has someone that's able to craft it, so it might be another thing to think about. I'm probably going to give it a shot this weekend, my FC has a good time in the Diadem.

I wouldnt go 30 mins for 5 spoils, or 120 per grade 5. After all many people will only need 1-2 grade 5s weekly, for that one piece of tomegear they update, which doesnt require/allow overmeld.
1 grade 5 weekly is received from VA and thats all you need for accessories and belts, half for other pieces.
Once you got your gear set i mean (like 220 crafts day 1 pentameld -> no more materia need unless u get additional pieces from sephi and AS. Hence prices crash rapidly, at least on phoenix. 1 grade 5 is400- 600k and falling, bad reward for 2 hours of farm).

I think I really like this idea, but at the same time the gear roulette would be somewhat pointless unless the iLvl of gear available was kept current with the latest patches. That would allow for you to roll for stats you like when you don't like the other options available at the iLvl; however, I can certainly see how it would create a problem in that the Diadem itself would be hard to adjust for each patch to keep it from being a "grind the same old content" problem. Maybe if they had gear roulettes for each tier of iLvl doing different things (Diadem would be for up to i210, then they do something else for i220+ gear roulette). Although, at that point it kind of gets us off topic since it's not so much about Diadem itself anymore.

Diadem was a great idea but a bit off. Right now is totally dead. The only thing that will motivate me go back in is to do some serious gathering.

This might be a bit of a random request but :

- increase the spoils spawn rate by 20%
- Create a DF daily roulette only for gatherers. With a bonus reward of 5 materias IV at random
- Create a DF only for war/magic classes with a bonus of 5 materias IV at random

This might crash the market tremendously but it is needed right now.

The easier to create an option to enter diadem with less than a full party.

When are they gonna update Diadem and make it relevant again ; ;

I though this patch would make the diadem more exploratory and less grinding / brainless kill of HP bags, so I'm a bit disappointed...

As for fairness, I usually go as lootmaster and dispatch items equally between my team members, one each, and whenever someone gets 180 I pass his turn once, 210 twice.
Better than nothing.

roulette for gatherers? so everyone can go in and do nothing then get 5 material IV? it's excellent when ppl need to take a bath ..etc ^^;
DF only for war/magic with bonus? maybe just need a DF with "job locking". you know only what jobs can enter diadem...

Man i've farmed diadem for mats for craft weapons. But my god. Is it brainless farming, And the horrible thing is, I've had runs where so many items dropped, and i ended up with one or two items. I mean, come on. rng is rng but this is next level crap.

I'm not even gonna bother for materia's in that place lol.
