Gathering Data Spreadsheet (updated)

Hello FFXIV players,

I have an online spreadsheet wherein I am compiling data for all DoL classes. Not open for public editing, but free to view. Link below:

Thanks to the Herculean efforts of Sir Wethamster of Wutai, whose data I've incorporated as of this evening, the spreadsheet is a lot closer to complete. There is still a lot of work to be done for marking baits/preferred baits per fish, but at least there's a good chance you'll find just where to find those fish now.

Also updated today, I combined all the data of different types into one "master" tab, sorted alphabetically.

I know, I know, there are other people with gathering data websites out there, but this one's been in slow progress for a long time and I just didn't like it sitting incomplete!

I like your spreadsheet, however, instead of using 1-10 on the slider for depth, why not use +1 to +5 and -1 to -5 since the slider starts in the middle? Postive numbers would be above middle and negatives below. One other thing, I found your explanation confusing with respect to the dialog box clues indicating that there are more of a resource above or below, etc. To be honest I have never quite understood what SE meant with these clues. Does that mean I need to adjust the slider up or down or go in or out on the mining target or up or down on the logging target?

You are a saint and a scholar. I have been researching everything I can about FFXIV since I started (I tend to do this with every MMO) and as a crafter main, this data is invaluable. I hope you keep this information public so I can look through all of it and take notes.

Indeed, this is most interesting. Thank you for the data! The fishing info is particularly useful, and I can't wait to see it expanded upon. I noticed that you don't have information regarding some the baits that I frequently use at specific locations, and nothing from Mor Dhona. I would be happy to help you with anything if you are looking for volunteers. Otherwise, I await with baited breath (har, har).

Great Spreadsheet and very useful, the only suggestion I would have is as Harly says, make the depth +1,+2, -1, -2 and so on. That is how I have always understood the system, you start at 0 and if it is up one then it is +1, if it is down one from 0 is it -1, if it is up 3 then it is +3 and so on ^^

Thats a big spreadsheet. Nice job, however I use websites to find the items I need. One is for the location (http://www.disciplesoftheland.com/Maps.aspx) and this one for comments on where to put find the item on the bar to begin the mini-game (http://ffxiv.yg.com/). I will look into that spreadsheet more, considering the size it might take me awhile lol.

this spreadsheet is more complete in the fishing tab than that Resource finder in disciples of the land website's fishing. But if you and that web designer would collaborate, we could have a complete list and an aesthetically pleasing display of info.

You do know that over a zam someone posted something that basically said for every zone or something like that there are 10 nodes types per what you are harvesting and what you get depends on which node type you are harvesting from and which depth you do so?

IE mining at node 1 depth one can bring different results than nodes 2-10 depth 1.

To the best of my knowledge that is correct, so what you then need is a map to determine what will drop from the specific node you are visiting.

However, each group of nodes share the same set of items, with each type of node dropping a subset of those items.

A certain type of item is also ALWAYS found at the same depth. For example, mythril can always be found at the third-highest notch wherever it is found and gold sand can always be found at the third lowest notch if it is available to be found at that node.

It's in the latter two parts here that this chart is helpful. It gives you a broad idea of what you can find at a given camp region and what depth to mine at, level to cut at, point to fish at, to try and get a specific item with the highest level of probability.
