Why does Replica High Allagan Coat of Fending still have red?

I was so exited for dyeable High Allagan. It was all I wanted: a dyeable HA tank coat just like Doga. So I was quite disappointed when I saw that, for some reason, unlike the other replica High Allagan crafts, the Coat of Fending for some reason retains part of its original red. This completely ruins some dyes - my goal, metallic sky blue, looks hideous.

You can see it best here, where the chosen dye fades into the original red. Why? This, compared to the Replica High Allagan Coat of Casting and Replica High Allagan Coat of Healing, which are both completely dyed.

So... why? Please fix this, SE. This is the one thing I really wanted from 3.2.

Because red is the sexiest color- why wouldn't you want it?

I can understand this is frustrating, but I'm of the other opinion on this. I like it that some gear maintains some color besides what can be dyed. It means some dyes might clash, but it it also means that some gear can be more than monochrome even when dyed.

The thing we wanted most from the coat was for it to have dyability matching the Crystal Tower Allagan characters. Their coats were green. People, including myself, really were hoping for it to be dyable any color the same way. Instead they made it the opposite. It's also the only allagan dyable piece to retain its original color. Just very frustrating :(

I'm more bothered by the fact that my ACTUAL High Allagan gear, which I got from second coil, can't be dyed. :/ I know SE has a fetish for invalidating old content and then later throwing relic/roulettes at it as a bandaid, but this feels more direct than most cases of saying "Don't even bother running those".

Everything about the dyable coil gear just feels so wrong. Mostly the fending coat because the dye does almost nothing to the look. It's not even worth the money to glamour it. Also I agree. The existing coil gear should have been made dyable instead of this new recipe process. It's just dumb ;-;

I have to agree that doesn't look right at all. This isn't the first time SE has done these kind of mis-dye options either. The Augmented Clerics Robe would be another that went from the two color normal option-> to three colors of different shade when you dye it. Looks absolutely terrible on most dyes.

Actually, if I'm not mistaken, in order to get the dyeable High Allagan gear, you need mats from Coil. So the reason they did it this way is to force the crafters to run Coil and keep it alive.

Are you SERIOUS? I was very excited to dye high allagan white...That pure white is just...dirty...
Looks like my PLD glamour will be 1st allagan.

I remember the poetic whm chest gear doing this, when you dyed it it only dyed a small part of it, and it was a mix of the dye color and the original silvery color, it always annoyed the living hell out of me to the point that I eventually just glamoured my old daystar chest piece over it.

Blood stained? Seriously though, I could foresee some rather repulsive colour fading with that. I genuinely understand your frustration.

Exactly! What about those of us who raided and farmed our butts off to get full sets of that gear back when it was current content?

I'm not really happy they put these recipes in the game (I'm sorry, I think raid gear should be special), but if they were going to do this, this way is best. If you're going to have items that look like raid gear, then the components should be raid drops, IMO.

they just did a really bad job with the tank chest as a whole, super disappointing. i really hope they patch this and add dye relevant gradients, and just not make it look so dingy as a whole.
Make the front match the back, don't let the tint take away the sharp black it had while letting the accents pop. and use a bit more saturation on those gradient bits while removing the red. i also think the underlying cloth that was bright red, turning a pale color is rather disappointing. When this chest is dyed it looses a lot of contrast and consistency, and that general pop that it originally has. let give this chest more options then pure white too!!! it looks great in storm blue!

But crafter players don't really go into raid content. If anything they will simply have someone go grab the items and craft for them. These items are criminally going for 6 million last time I checked on Jenova because crafters are paying raiders to grab these items. It's also criminal that Dreadwyrm isn't able to be crafted and dyed but hey maybe next patch.

And where's the replica accessories? I want the red high allagan accessories because they look cool.

Crafters most definitely do coils... In fact, I went with 5 of my FC crafters to farm specifically for these items. Hell, even back in the day when coils were still somewhat relevant, I had at least 2 "crafters" in my group. Just because someone's into crafting doesn't mean they don't go into raids, that's just laziness. But hey, if people are buying I'm all for spamming outdated content.

High Allagan Coat of Healing still has that black/brown stretch of cloth near the bottom that I wish was dyeable. Just sayin.

Its most common that dedicated crafters doesnt go into raids rather than doing them, for many dedicated crafters spending time raiding for materials is mostly dead time wich could be best spended making items to sell instead.

That red ruins most of the none-red/black colors on the Replica High Allagan Coat of Fending, please fix this, Dev.

I personally think some of this replica HA dye implementation wasn't tested out throughly, considering how much Dalamud Red or glow is still in-place on certain pieces like the High Allagan Kite Shield, High Allagan Star Globe. Or my Pastel Purple Dyed High Allagan Crook for-example.

I think they want these Red Crystal to be this way on the weapons since my Pure White High Allagan Blade also contains that Red Crystal too. It does not bother me much but it would have been very nice if my HA Blade has turned to be all white.

For now, I just hope that the Dev. would reassess these High Allagan Items again.

Hi, I just recently came back to the game after stopping at 3.1. Both the healing and fending High Allagan sets are my favorite. I was excited when Doga and Unei showed up with their version and hoping we'd get a dye able version like that someday. I was severely disappointed when I checked out the replicas and found they were not at all alike.

Can we revisit this topic?
