...could you maybe use this cover of "Answers" for the ending credits?

Or something like it? I think it'd be the perfect way to close the door.

Didn't they already do that for 1.0?, those who stayed till the meteor fell would see the opening cinematic of Bahamut. Beautiful song and one i will grind for the jukebox.
Edit: Misread the Cover part.
Erutan makes great games covers
Seems a little morbid and premature to be asking for something to be done when (should perhaps be if...) FFXIV ends.
That song will always send shivers down my spine. But by all things sacred that is the most beautiful cover of it I've ever heard.
I find the softer version of Answers (this) to actually feel a bit more emotional even. It's sad that she thinks she failed :(
I like her version but the original is still the best imo. Though I do have an attachment to it since I was there at the battle of Carteneau fighting the final boss of 1.x series, Neo-Zone Exploding Congestion, up till it finally went down and we got that video afterwards.
I worded my request improperly. I meant for it to be in the positive sense of "end." As in, when the story is complete, and there's nothing left to add.
To me, the cover gives the sense of hearing the echoes of all that transpired in Eorzea: the Warriors of Light, the Warriors of Darkness, gods and men; birth, life, and death; and, ultimately, memories of how the world survived its final hour.
Absolutely wonderful. Thanks for bringing it to my attention.
I absolutely adore Answers as a song, but I don't think it should be used again. It was already a bookend for the Calamity. For the beginning and ending of Bahamut's impact on modern day Eorzea. It's very hard to imagine it being used again and stirring in me the feelings it did when the full chorus hit after Teraflare in T13.
Ah, I see. I'm sorry, the game I played before FFXIV was White Knight Chronicles which was terminated without reason less than two years after WKC2 arrived. It was a game that really came alive online, and barely 18 months after dropping a guild systen on us, the game was gone. It's left me very wary, and sensitive about the longevity of games online.
well that was a waste of 30 seconds.
For me, Answers is very strongly linked to the end of the 1.0 story + the wrap-up of said story in ARR.
So personally, I don't know if I want to see it used for something else and was happy that HW got it's own song.
Then again, after countless expansions, all with their own main theme, when the game comes to its final end, hearing that song again would be special too, resurfacing memories of vanilla FFXIV.
@song: Lol, I found that cover like 2 days ago too, completely unrelated xD
@thread title: When FF14 Ends...I want SE to release an offline version of the game that I can play whenever I feel like it like any other main title FF game :x
The only reason FFXIV ended was because it was an utter failure of a game. FF mmos don't tend to "end"

Here I was finally allowing myself to rewatch game play footage of my time with Sanadaiyeve four years ago. All the friends I met, all battles, all our victories, laughing together, crying together. Laying down half conscious in the grass contemplating our feels after a marmot beat us half dead. All the magical encounters, meeting Y'shtola, Merlwyb, Kan-E-Senna, everyone for the first time. What I wouldn't give to relive 1.0. Every second of it.
And here's this thread talking about FFXIV and the faint remainder of it's 1.0 soul, dying with finality.
Crying so much a new shroud would grow in Thanalan. I hope FFXIV never dies. It's the most amazing experience I've ever had. I broke my life long promise of addiction to FFXI for FFXIV 1.0. I hope FFXIV remains forever so I can always hang out with my sister Sanadaiyeve. I want to grow old with her, with Y'shtola T_T, with Merlwyb, everyone. I love you FFXIV. When ?.0's death takes 1.0's aether with it so too shall it take mine.
I was going to suggest they could do something similar to what they did with FFXI and remix the main theme (XI's was the Vana'diel March) into a song (with players humming the chorus at the end), but then I realised that Answers has sort of always been FFXIV's main theme...
So idunno. Twilight Over Thanalan song?
And in the 2.0 credits.
Such a great cover. If this was recorded inside a high-end professional recording studio with quality fixes, it would had been epic.
Maybe I should take back all that stuff I said about "FF14's story ending." I just remembered the long, long history of Eorzea's Astral/Umbral Eras. Who's to say time would stop after this one?
Still, I didn't think I'd slice so many onions while listening to a cover of one of my favorite Final Fantasy songs. I hope Erutan realizes that her cover is actually good, and that anyone who says otherwise probably didn't even truly listen to it.
