Ninjas and skill speed

How much skill speed is needed to comfortably perform the opener(fitting 5 gcds inside trick attack ). After Bising what I could to meet acc caps and such I have 492 skill speed (and 817 crit, hallelujah), I don't notice a huge difference but I do notice a slightly longer gcd after doing multiple upgrades. It still seems like I'm getting all 5 gcds in TA, but due to the animation on Duality it seems like my Aeolian edge hits right before or as it falls off, and cutting it that close I'm afraid server ticks or lag might cause it to miss by just a second.

I can easily get duality AE in under TA with 428 SS, I've even done it with less than 390 SS. It is heavily connection dependent though.

im currently having a 2.09s gcd under huton and is able to pull it off properly, it is very tight however
in extreme cases, do aeolian edge before mutilate to be on the safe side

Since they reduced the TP cost of Spinning Edge, I bet the new tome gear is FULL of Skill Speed!!
So, I don't think that fitting 5 strikes in a TA window will be a problem in the near future!

I minimize skillspeed as much as possible as its stat weight is abysmal in comparison to the others. I've personally never had an issue fitting the moves into TA. I do have an issue with GCD clipping in regards to increased skillspeed however.

NIN will always want as little SS as possible due to mudra clipping. If you are struggling to hit AE under TA with 500 SS, consider changing from raiton to fuma.

Maybe it's just me, but I'm okay with my mudras overlapping slightly with my GCD considering that happens only once every 20 sec. If I lose one second on GCD but can make that up with increased speed the other 19 seconds, overall, I feel like I'm still doing fine.

Also I'm sure there's a personal style aspect going into it here where I love that as Ninja there's always some attack I could be performing. I get bored on other DPS classes once I use up all my weave attacks and have to wait three seconds between attacks.

There are some very complex calculations that can be done (and have been done), that actually show that the GCD clipping from mudras can impact your dps in a fairly major way. Also, SS is awful for our TP consumption issues.

That may be the case, but I enjoy playing more if I'm super speedy, that at least to me, that's more important. It is a game, after all, important that you do what you enjoy.

I try to avoid as much ss as i can due to Ninja burning tp rather quickly. The "fix" last time really did not do much, so hopefully this next patch the changes will be of notice

it should be quite notorious, given that Spinning Edge is present in almost all of our combos.

Almost all? Tell me more about these combos that don't start with Spinning Edge XD haha.

Question is... do 5 actions enter in the TA window with 345 Skill Speed?

I always try to have around 400 SS, I got my BiS right now with Nin. I know the post is more then a year old, but still this is the first thing u'll find searching for this answer xD

so well my stats with near BiS (Relic needs to get to 275, then it's BiS) are as follows:

Accuracy: 710 (Belt got a 9 Precision Mat, else u get 701, thats not enough for Zurvan, tho. U can take food too, but I want my food to stat my dmg up ;))
Crit: 1256
Det: 760
SS: 449 (due to Relic with 5 points in SS, u could go with 5 points in Acc, too, so u won't really have a problem with Zurvan at the end :))

I have, with Huton, 2,09 GCD and it works pretty well. Every guide covering the Ninja, teaches u to be around 400 in SS, so try to reach that 2,09 GCD and u are golden :)

As others said too, Mutilate can be done after AE, because the time-window at the end of Blood for Blood is pretty "edgy" x'D. It's really one sec that decides, if u go with it or without, so try to reach 2,08 GCD or just do Mutilate later (or be that perfect guys that fits dat Mutilate into it like a pro ;))

What? This is nonsense... Acc cap for Zurvan is 699 for a start. And I'm not quite sure what you are on about with the stuff about MU and BfB...With proper buff timing, you should easily refresh MU in every BfB window.

Fairly certain Ninja is like the other jobs in that either Crit> Skill Speed > determination is the order as determination has less of an effect?
400 or around there for Skill Speed sounds low at least to me, bellow 400 is even worst
I do not main Nin so i could be wrong :)

NIN is Crit>Det>SS, due to how SS interacts with mudras. 444 is where most NINs will be sitting this patch.

Nin is Crit > Det > SS, the only reason to meld SS would be if you can reach a new SS tier with 1 additional meld. As for accuracy, it's 699. Ninja has no set requirement for SS and the only rule is that it's worth less than other stats.
