{Can I have it?} Horadric Cube

I'm pretty sure I'm not the first person to think of this, but can we have some way of combining materias? For instance, 3x of one materia converts to 1 of the next tier'd materia?

For example: 3 Mind I's turns into 1 Mind II.

Other then that, I shouldn't be getting tier 1 and 2's from lv 41+ gear.

It's actually Horadric Cube. You're missing an r. Nitpicking aside, I agree 100%. Tired of getting crap Materia from high level HQ items.... Dated Toadskin Mitts +2 gave me a T1 Mind Materia. Really?

I'd rather have a Deckard Cain doing the materia cubing for me. I have inventory crisis. No space for carrying around a 2x2 item.

Yes please, lol -_- this would give more value to lower tier materia... since there isn't much point in attaching it to gear you replace in a few hours of play anyway...

For the love of god, yes please run with this idea devs. I agree thst level I mediocre materia off of High level high quality gear is utterly ridiculos.

Sounds like an awesome idea, not only for making higher level materia, but also for combining different types (and of course, for making bolts into arrows, and arrows into bolts lol) :)

Huh, that'd be interesting too, combining Mind + Pie to make Vestryman's materia.

I wonder what the point of having the lower tier materia is in the first place. Nobody uses it, and the lower levels go by so fast that it's pointless to put materia on anything. I'd rather farm the gil to buy it than play the RNG game. This seems like a good niche for Alchemy to fill.

No fun if everyone has the best and hardest ones to get

completely love this idea. they should also make attaching materia a synth and get rid of the making repair like game play it has now.

They said early on that the quality of converted gear has no effect in the resulting grade of materia.
...further testing indicates that the optimal level of the converted gear can influence the grade, however it is not a guarantee regardless.

No fun when you have 200 tier 1 materias rotting in your inventory.

Great post OP, hope SE is reading.
I would love to be able to combine lower tier materia into higher level.. Give it a 50% chance for all I care, not like i will use any of the Tier 1 or 2 anyways on any lvl 50 equips.

Materia fusion (something like in Crisis Core) would be a very nice thing to have in game, right now I NPC all my Tier I and II materia, having a use for them would be very nice.

I do think the higher the tier the higher the cost though.

So Tier
I > 2 would require 3 materia
2 > 3 would require 6 materia
3 > 4 would require 12 materia

this way it would still require a good bit of work on the players behalf and not make Tier 4 materia meaningless.

You would require 216 materia to go from tier 1 to tier 4. :O

Awesome idea! Can we PLEASE have it!? Either that or just make it so R41+ items only turn into grade 4 materia!

Not necessarily. This would probably increase the value of the lower tier materia, if anything.

Also, if this were possible, I would think that it would require more than a couple materia to get a better tier. And the higher you go up in tiers, the higher the fail rate for combining them.

Example:

Tier I to II: 4 tier I materia - 90% Success rate
Tier II to III: 6 tier II materia - 75% Success rate
Tier III to IV: 8 tier III materia - 50% Success rate

Something along those lines. Basically there would be a big chance that you'd fail, losing 8 tier IIIs in the process.

Would be useful since low level Materia is useless anyways. Noone has low level characters and you can level up so fast what is the point of having materia for a class that is lower than 30 or 40?
