ARR City Maintenance

For anyone who didn't see, they're taking down the 3 cities of A Realm Reborn for maintenance starting in a couple minutes, but leaving the rest of the game up.

The upshot is, a lot of afk people are about to be kicked, which makes it the perfect time to try getting a character on a tight server like Gilgamesh.

Come on in!

I've been thinking that Limsa was looking pretty shabby! About time it got a new coat of paint over all the sailor barf stains.

Don't think it will affect server openings that much.

You missed it, it is on the launcher under the Special Notices box. 2nd item down the list under the box.

Just poked around on Reddit to see if anyone knew, and it possibly has to do with a situation someone discusses in a thread there.

Not linking or giving specifics or anything on this forum because that is against the ToS, but definitely go to Reddit for the details. It's scary as heck.

Just the other day they had emergency maintenance that was just on Limsa's Lower Decks. I'd never seen region-specific maintenance like that. Did this problem start there, then spread to the other cities?

Wow what the.... That's pretty impressive that they figured out how to do that...

Oh wow, I just searched this myself. That is very crazy. Maybe this shows that RMTS are getting more and more desperate if they have to now do things this way...

I hope this will stop them pesky rmt bots/gil sellers if its a fix for that that is...

I wouldn't worry. Square isn't going to ban anyone for vaguely discussing RMTs. It would be like a store kicking you out for talking about a theft you heard about, which would be foolish and bad for business. What's more, bug reports on the forums help stop exploits like this from occurring by directing Square's attention to them. You should only be concerned if you're somehow giving details on how the RMT are accomplishing their cloning (and then how could any of us know that?) as Square obviously wouldn't want any more RMT catching wind of how to go about this.

This is true, the Reddit forum was just full of warnings saying not to bring it here since people have been banned for posting about certain exploits and glitches even without knowing how it was done. I'd be mad if I got banned for something like that and in this case I think it's better safe than sorry since there isn't anything we can do about it except report it if we see it.

The ToS is very strict, as players have been banned for simply talking about a touchy issue. I'm merely proposing you don't talk about it for your own safety, but by all means don't let me stop you. So if valuing my account's safety over discussing this topic makes me a sissy, then I think I'm the biggest sissy here. =p
