ninja pulling hunts

peppole ninja pulling hunts and then i report on and i spoke to a gm and he sad he cant do anyting so i ask if i reset the hunt then he says.

We are not encouraging players to reset Hunt monsters even if they don't intend to disrupt other players' gaming time. However as explained before, since this is part of the game mechanics, and unless the suspect of a report is found guilty of purposely disrupting other players, this is not considered as a violation.

and so you mean to reset is to disrupting other players. but it is not disrupting other players then you pull befor no one is ther so it is only 4 who get it and like 8 players becioms mad for they dont get anyting for that person pulled then they were on the way

Do you mean a Ninja, as in the job, was pulling Hunts or do you mean someone was sneaking *like a ninja* and pulling Hunts? Either way, unless they used some sort of exploit to gain an advantage or it can be proven that they are simply pulling just to troll other players, SE isn't going to do much about it

The reality of hunts is that no one HAS to wait for everyone to gather before engaging them. Sure it's the courteous thing to do, but I'm pretty sure as far as gameplay mechanics go, Hunts are just considered free-roaming creatures that can be claimed by anyone, regardless of who set eyes on them first.

Besides, you can't wait for everyone all the time. You could sit there 10 minutes and still get someone ranting that someone pulled early.

This. All this talk of "ninja pulling" (which I assume refers to early pulling here) just sounds like a sorry excuse for players who can't get off their butt and hunt themselves.

I realize you're upset about this, but this section of the forum is for questions and bug reports reguarding the localization aspect of the game, not for complaining that someone didn't wait three hours to pull a mob. A more appropriate place to post about this matter would be the Hunting Log section if you wanted to reach out to people who actually care about this sort of thing, or General Discussion if you were looking to attract the maximum number of people to laugh at you over it.

There's no such thing as an early pull, or a ninja-pull as you say. There's only people that simply didn't make it in time. Any and all waiting is a courtesy. I'm not sure why you'd think a GM would enforce someone NOT to attack an idle, available mob.

People will whine about "early" pulls even if there were more people than can be rendered at once on screen at the scene.

There really is no ninja pulling because as soon as its aggroed everyone charges in, doesn't matter if it was on purpose or accident. Its like wolves to the kill, only way to "stop" ninja pulls is to let the person who pulls kill themselves by not pulling aggro away or healing them.

hunts werent designed to wait for the whole server to arrive to kill them, they were designed for a group of people to find and kill.. so many people complain about early pulls lol

Well, think of it this way. You are a actual hunter in a actual jungle... If someone shoots the deer you saw first or scares it away... That guy is a jerk, but it's not like the police are going to arrest him.

NPCs aren't owned by anyone. They own themselves if anything and have programming to defend themselves... :x

If they had to police the issue though, I'd prefer some magical moogle police come and carry way the people being jerks and tickle their feet with feathers for a few hours. That would work. Unless they enjoy that sort of thing...

The way this game has worked since 2.0 launch has been that it goes to who it goes to. For instance, i remember the fleece farming off sheep at launch was freaking brutal.

Why couldnt they just add NMs from 1.x ?
S-Ranks die within 1 Minute with less than 16 players atting... its a joke!
The fix didnt help anything, do they even monitor the situation or have they already given up on hunts?
To think in diadem it would be different, who was responsible for that bad idea?!

Everybody has the rights to kill any monster in the game. Early pullers didn't do anything wrong.

Hunts are open world mobs and while it may be more socially acceptable to wait for others and share them, players are actually under no obligation to do so. "Early pulling" doesn't disrupt anyone. If you weren't fast enough to get to the hunt, that's not the fault of the people that are already there fighting the hunt mob. In many cases, it's the fault of the player themselves for going to the wrong teleport (i.e. the mob spawns near Mist but they teleported to Moraby). If you miss a hunt, you just have to try and find the most efficient way to get around so you can be faster getting to the next one. Honestly, most of the people that I see whining about early pulling don't even hunt anyway. I can player search them at any given time and see them sitting and crafting in town or something. It's even funnier when they whine about not making it to rarer S ranks like Nunyunuwi when they basically have to be actively ignoring an hour's worth of FATE grinding, shouting, and Party Finders saying the dang thing is gonna spawn.

Resetting a hunt, on the other hand, actively disrupts combat for everyone that's already there and engaged with the mob. If successful, it completely erases whatever credit they've earned on it, plus it almost always adds more people into the mix. This is unfair to the people that were already there. For example, I go on Warrior and pop Unchained + Berserk to ensure maximum credit even when solo. When someone resets the mob, I don't have those cooldowns back and my ability to generate aggro is vastly diminished. If I'm solo or in a smaller party, I may not get full credit when it's re-engaged as a result.

well first of all IF you don't hunt sitting afk waiting for somone to text in linkshell about spawn its ur self to blame.
IF you hunt party you maybe be first on spot to do w/e you want.

People may call it greedy but its hunt afterall. If i miss one then its my own fault sitting semi afk testing glamour on marketboard..

I've heard that on JP servers, people just auto-attacks while tank/healers builds aggro, so everyone gets bonus and fight lasts long enough for everyone.

That's why I always go as healer, to spamm AoE healing and get full reward instead of killing it faster :S

It's a bit more complicated than that. Most people don't have the time to wait around or explore the game world in the hope that maybe there's a A or S rank lurking in the area. With that in mind it's not unfair to consider it good sportsmanship to call out the location and give people 5-10 minutes to gather and assault it.

It makes for a more pleasant experience overall - and it's very telling that it's the norm over on the Japanese servers but not on the EU and NA servers. It'd be interesting to learn if the developers themselves play on the NA/EU servers to see how the method of players tackling content differs compared to over on the Japanese servers.

For my server, everyone killing it normally but (almost) everyone still get full credit unless you arrive when it almost die.
We just didn't wait for the whole server to come and slaughter it, we normally wait about 1-2 min then start for A-rank or about 4-5 parties for S-rank.

I never heard anyone complain about fast pull except when tomestone and seal is on high demand (early Anima patch for example) and some party kill 2.0 S-rank as soon as it spawn while there's a lot of parties searching for it in same map and once they arrive, it already die.

The GM has the right of it. Hunts are first come first serve they aren't meant to be done with half the server, if you want to avoid losing out on the rewards then actually scout for the hunts yourself.

Because of this there is no such thing as early pulling.

As much as I hate early pulls (like, when it's called out and I get there in less than a minute and they killed it and I'm with a large pack of players all coming) I have to agree with everyone here. It's not against any rules for them to pull it. The only way to curb that behavior is that no one else helps them and lets them die. But people panic when pulls happen and don't want to miss out, so they join to maximize their rewards (thus enabling). But early pullers really only need a few to help them unless it's a particularly hard hunt, which is why everyone just joins anyways. It's unfortunate, but nothing can be done except if you're server sets something up themselves.

For the most lart I tend to say the mob is there in shout, wait a couple minutes, then begin soloing it on my Scholar. If it's a HW A rank I get together a light party to kill it.

When I find A ranks nobody tends to show up because they're waiting for their hunting linkshells to announce its location.

Also if the A rank is Maracco I probably won't wait since he's my mortal enemy ever since he killed me when I was questing. So I solo him everytime I see him.

Personally I find hunts way more enjoyable when it's a small group of people fighting the mob or when I'm solo.

After all, it's a hunt, pretty sure most hunters don't wait for 300 other hunters to show up before killing their target.

Also I find it hilarious when I kill an A rank and suddenly everyone and their mom is like "invite for hunt" in shout and a bunch of people show up to admire the empty spot where I waged an epic battle against an A rank mob.

I've done it before as a Ninja :D I used Hide and got close up to the monster. Once a lot of people gathered, I used Trick Attack on it, flagged the monster (got credit), and people helped killed it. It was fun :P

Exactly doing hunts "as intended" in small groups is actually fun compared to the grind most people make out of it. Soloed Marrocao at the weekend on my WAR and usually 2 man them with a FC mate if noone cares after a shout.
Loved how in N. Than. had lately someone shout out the A while was mining so I stopped and went there and informed my FC mate. There been 5 people waiting that went away before my friend arrived (assuming other hunt). It had been 8 mins since the first shout and 5 min since they left when we 2 man pulled. During the kill they came back at 30% using /say "Nice steal"... like lol you went away didn't you?

Do you really hunt? What you describe isn't reality on my server!
If you are active hunting you are on the disadvantage because before you reach the hunt its already dead. It happens very often that you can not reach it in time because you were on other side of the map. Active hunting means to search for it and it will not spawn in front of you!

Being on a small server, it gets noticed when the consistently same people early pull (one has been blackballed from a majority of hunt link shells). I am not an advocate of standing around for 10 minutes while people gather to a spot. I'm also not a fan of a hunt being called (for location) and people pulling as soon as they get there (less than a minute after location shout).

Side note, 2.x hunts are fair game, Like i'll call out an S rank because of the points and ease of killing with more people, but A ranks, I just solo them at this point. Example, yesterday caught Zanigoh while doing my tribe dailies and he was deep in Zaharak, by the Ifrit aetheryte. Sorry, but definitely not waiting for people to come there xD solo'd.

HW hunts I'll always call out, because they're not soloable(I've tried ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ ) and I have this weird hope to see everyone on Zalera flying a Wyvern.

The GM is right. Hunts are not reserved. Anyone can attack a hunt. You cannot expect 1 person to wait for you. Even though its common courtesy it still is a hunt. There is no in game rule stating you have to wait until everyone has arrived before attacking the hunt.

My advise would be to get in as many hunt ls as possible, that way you will always be notified well in advance.

sometimes i miss a hunt and it sucks and i complain about it because i would have liked to do it, but when you have like 20 people there to do it i don't expect them all to wait just for me

The rules have been established log ago.

If you pull the mob with the intent of resetting it then YOU will be banned.

Its a never ending discussion that will probably never get a solution.

The only way I can recommend how to deal with ninja pullers is by getting to the hunts before they do.

And if youre on the PS3 or a pc made out of stirring sticks and ducttape you might as well forget about it alltogether. The hunt will be dead, buried, respawned and killed again before youre done loading.

It has been solved by SE, they have stated that pulling "early" is not an offense as per the rules of the game. There is no such thing as an "early puller" they are first come, first serve. Only thing there is, are people that didn't make it and are butt hurt, like the OP.

My point is, this can go on forever and people will never stop complaining.

Just got through soloing Marracco, and with that my revenge against the dragon who killed me while I was questing is complete.
I periodically checked Coerthas for signs of him and finally found him and killed him uninterrupted.

If someone says in shout or LS "Hey there's this A rank mob here" then you should probably wait since you're not the one who found the mob, though if you stumble across an A rank or S rank then you have every right not to say anything about its location and kill it. (Especially if you solo an S rank, if you do that then I'll be impressed)

But if you're really that desperate for A rank mobs you should be desperately running around trying to locate them before anyone else.

The only drawback is socially enforced as it should be with open world content.

When hunts aren't ultra popular people can and will solo kill them with no drawback.

If there are sufficient people to kill the hunt it. is. not. early.

There is no exception.

Taking work people did and resetting it is a disruption, being more attentive to alerts is not.

As if that was ever in doubt.

That's not how most hunting is actually done, though. You don't just go around hoping to stumble upon hunts, it's pretty systematic, actually. Especially for S ranks, which need to be spawned. This is usually done by a pretty small group of players, who often do this constantly and are pretty knowledgeable about all the details, like respawn windows, spawning mechanisms, and spawn locations. On Cerberus it's probably not more than a dozen of players who spawn 80% of the S ranks.

Many of the A ranks are hunted in dedicated parties, where it's common to first announce hunts in party chat, allow everyone who helped scout to get there, and only then shout and post to linkshells. They then usually wait for 3-6 minutes depending on how long it takes to get to the location from the nearest port, then pull. Since they did 90% of the work, it's pretty unreasonable to expect them to wait for half an our until the entire server has gotten their lazy bums there. If you wanna get guaranteed credit for hunts, join a hunting party. It's a lot of fun and way more satisfying than just showing up to quickly kill something that someone else found.

Here's a counter question for you:

What makes the people who get there on the back of someone who found it, pulling it for them before they're ready, any better? Both sides are equally just as bad in my book. I hate the whiners who complain about early pulls. I hate those who go out of their way to grief others by pulling ASAP.
