Something I noticed in the Fractal Continuum...

Granted, people have probably already noticed this and I'm just spouting off old news, but... I was running the Fractal Continuum a while ago with some of my FC mates as part of our Level 60 Roulette. We ran into the Iksalion, and something I noticed that I hadn't before: The Iksalion had almost the exact same model as the Ixal, with the exception of these mobs had wings.

Were the Allagans doing experiments on the beast tribes at one point? Or at least their ancestors?

Confirmed info, Iksalion were Allagan Creations that were genetically manufactured servants. The Instability of their DNA and intolerance to high aether levels later lead to an evolution into what we now know as The Ixali. A flightless descendant of the Iksalion.

The Iksalon are the Ixal, and Azys Lla is Ayatlan it seems, it seems like the Ixal were a race created by the Allagans.

Alright, that pretty much confirms my suspicions. The other thing I'm wondering is, did the Allagans work on the other beast tribes as well? Like, say, the Vanu Vanu, or maybe even the Amalj'aa?

I dunno, I'm likely overthinking all of this because we never really got a good idea of where these two in particular came from, other than "They were always there". At least with the Sahagin/Kobolds we're told that they came from the sea/underground, respectively, at least as far as I recall.

I recall from somewhere that Ultima Weapon or Proto Ultima were made from merging Amal'jaa and Sahagin, not sure if that is correct though.

Speculation not confirmed on both counts.

Though I personally Loath to give allag that much credit on the basis there were civilizations before and after them with their own unique quirks (Like how Mach and Amdapor took magic further than the alagan could have ever dreamed) So saying ALL the beast tribes were made by them is, imo, giving them WAY to much credit. I susspect the Beast Tribes were in Eorzea LONG before the first of the spoken races ever showed up. (Who knows, maybe they were Zodiark's Children before Hydaleyn allegedly took over ala Promethia vs Altana.)

What are the origins of Garuda ? Did she really existed ?

Well... I think all this questions can be answer if you take a look to the tale of Moises.

I really have suspicions that Gaurda was an allagan. why?

- I really doubt the Ixalion could have so easely scape from the allagans's hands withouth an inside help.
- After 5 thousands years, the Ixaly pictured Gaurda as a half human - half Ixali creature? Given the facts that primals are created from mortal's minds, Garuda could have look like anything.

My theory is that Garuda was an Allagan too. I also suspect the 'Lord of Serpents' or whatever it was from the Garuda mythos was a Chimeric construct.

As for the other beast tribes, I think some of them are the result of Allagan manipulation but not all. I think one of the FATEs in Azys Lla actually indicates that the chimeric creatures you are fighting seem to be a merge involving a lizard like beast tribe who lives in southern Othard, plus we know that Sephirot was worshipped by a plant like beast tribe. Considering they had the key, I think the Vanu Vanu are definitely candidates for Allagan created.

To be honest, Miqote are high on my suspect list for possible Allagan created races too. Its very likely that Allagans created Chimeric species for domestic purposes as well as war ones and creating a servant race would fit. It would also explain a lot of the cat like behaviour that Miqote culture seems to share.

I really dont think that. I have some suspicions on the Vanu Vanu, but there is no strong evidence to suport this, only a tinny little key and that still not very conclusive.

I suspect the Raptoids on Azys la were created by testing different times of beast tribe creatues ( Was not that already confirmed? )

That the miqote were allagan made I think is ridiculus, sorry. Until we get solid info non of the spoken races were allagan made. Just because Miqotes lived on Meracydia that doesnt make then allagan creations

I have a headcanon for Garuda that involves a certain someone coming out of stasis and getting sent 5000 years into the past. Don't ask me how my brain works, it's a mystery to me, too.

I had always chocked Garuda's appearance up to the fact that when a group of people create a god, they usually do so in their own image so they can relate to it. Ifrit takes on a bestial appearance, like the Amjala. Garuda appears birdish, like the Ixal. The Kobolds work within the earth, and venerate it above themselves. Others can be chalked up to tradition within the FF series. Bismarck has always been a whale, even if the Vanu look like giant mutant thrushes.

Plus, it's been established that the primals aren't the actual primals, but the physical manifestation of the mental image of the creature, given power by prayer.

So the Ixal dream of being able to fly is just to get home to Azys Lla?

Yes. Post-Fractal Continuum dialogue with the Ehcatl Nine elder confirms this.

Wouldn't surprise me if a "friendly" Siren helped the Ixal escaped and that's how Garuda was remembered

That the point, if primals are created by mortals's minds and given how beast tribe looks for something that looks like them or has a relation with them at all. Why garuda has humanoid aspects?

Garuda ( primal ) could be anything the Ixal wanted, but they choose a humanoid with ixali aspects and that can fly. Weird isnt it?

At this point I'm more incline to consider the Lord of Serpents to be a Dragon... Perhaps even Midgardsormr himself, since we have absolutely no account of what he was doing during the Allagans reign. Given he survived the Battle of Silvertear Skies, I'm incline to think he could survive a fight with the Allag and a little nom-ing from proto-Garuda... Thordan does give us a prime example of people eating a Dragon and becoming slightly... power hungry...

With the Ixali being Allagan constructs, specifically working on repairing stuff like airships (hence their modern day affiliation with them)... I can picture a scenario in which a female Allag general/whatever lead a battle against Midgardsormr, similar to Silvertear Skies, with Midgardsormr trying to prevent flight. That's what the Lord of Serpents was said to have done, although it was for all creatures, not for airships. Fight ends much the same as Silvertear Skies, "Garuda" survives, as do a group of Iksalion. Those Iksalion venerate "Garuda" and become the ancestors for the Ixali.

I'm perhaps just trying to tie up two gaps there though... It bugs me that Middy is seemingly missing during Allag times, more so given where Crystal Tower is... If "Garuda" defeated him the same way Garlemald did, though? And a group of Iksalion were left in Mor Dhona, perhaps heading east to West Shroud... It depends where Ixali history starts, I suppose... If Ixali mythology goes as far back as Iksalion, then we have to tie it with Allagan history, if it starts after the Allag have gone, then we can't. My alternative, given the Vanu Vanus knowledge of Azys Lla (they warn us not to go there, they even held the Key), and their use of sanuwa, which are serpents, has me thinking the Ixali and Vanu clashed in the distant past. That gives no figure for who "Garuda" could be, though.

They really need to explore the beast-tribes backstories more.

Like what the fractal is up with the Gigas? Who worship the Crystal Tower and seem to have some vaguely-Allagan symbols that have survived thousands of years? The only actual question we had about the place going in and it was never even hinted at.

Or are they actually former worshipers of Zurvan, who was sealed by the power of the Crystal Tower at some point, inspiring them to shift the focus of their worship to the superior icon? We can make up anything to go with what we have, which is essentially a 200-page redacted document with everything but "Crystal Tower" blacked out.

I just can't really believe that Garuda was original an Alagan Hyur or whatever. By that logic, Ramuh could very well have been an Elezen since since he looks so much like one, unlike a sylph.
