The JP players have a very strong community and a very intense Meta that they like to share with the community as a whole. For most of the rest of the world, we form our own little groups with our own Metas and we generally keep to that. It's just a cultural thing, really.
NA players do their blogging on Tumblr.
well anyone can blog and JP just seem to do it more, don't like it? write a ENG blog :P
Um...I blog on the lodestone. /hangs head in shame
Perhaps the Japanese players are just more literate?
::runs for cover::
I'm teasing, mostly.
But seriously, even posting to these forums, the whole Tl;DR meme utterly destroys posts of any length because so many English speaking players don't want to read...let alone write, a long post or blog entry.
I could probally blog but umm...... blog about what is the question... lol
edit actually i may make a blog partition for the chinese and korean exclusive outfits to be allowed for all... not that that would work...
A lot of the blogs are about things they like, stuff they've accomplished, etc
..it's a blog. Blog about whatever you want.
Yeah I honestly don't know what I'd blog about either. What I like and what I dislike about various parts of the game and things that I think should be added or changed. Problem though for me doing that is twofold. One, it's much easier to post about and discuss things you don't like or that you think should be changed. Having gone to art school, the crit method of pointing out the positives and then pointing out some criticisms and advice, so you are comprehensive and balanced is easier on a statuc piece than it is on something ongoing. Once you've discussed you positives there's an almost endless amount of things to criticize and I've done that here and feel it comes across too negative. And two, the game has already been through a rebirth and I really don't think much will change, and things to add are pretty slow and infinite to think about.
So, yeah, today I got two unidentifieds :D.
If you want, you can filter the blogs on the Lodestone main page by realm. Might not be that Japanese are more into blogging, it might be that it sorts by a certain Realm first that happens to be Japanese.
I just hate the word "blog", that is all.
Their users don't get banned. Q_Q
NA and EU players use Tumblr a lot. You can find lots of blogs about FFXIV there. Different cultures different ways of expressing.
All the coolest people have FFXIV Wordpress blogs.
But no, it's actually a got a lot to do with the way the Lodestone filters blog posts as others have mentioned. For whatever reason it doesn't default to the language for your account. There actually is a decently-sized community that blogs on the English side of things. I made sure to filter them once (but for some reason it defaulted back the next time I logged in) and was actually pretty surprised at how much was actually going on for us.
The JP players are posting blogs nigh constantly. I think a good chunk of the playerbase actually uses the blogs.
A smaller fraction of NA players use theirs, but the ones that do are active about it. But because there's less of us the JP posts flood the community wall and ours get pushed down (it's based on post date/time, older ones fall off), so it looks like we don't have anything.
But we do.
And you can also get banned from the lodestone blogs/comments system. It's pretty easy to do as well, lol.
I tried to back during 2.0/2.1 but just felt that no one really gave a crap about my experiences ingame or what I've been up to/felt about X content or Y character etc, so I just kinda stopped, now I just annoy my fiance with my incessant talking about this or that or the other until she tells me "I DONT CARE!!" =P (And then I talk a little more about it, just to spite, cuz that's what a good spouse does, right?)
Personally how I view blogs as a whole is "I don't care"... however I think they are important which is why I try so hard to keep one or two. They are a good snapshot of life- in this case, a popular video game played by thousands. Each person's experience is different and in the future that'll be good to read about.
So, I think more people should keep blogs, not for other people but for themselves (and the future).
For what it's worth, I don't find that people don't care. Honestly, I don't get a lot of comments but I do get views: I get about 100 views an entry within a week or so. I have a few people following me. If you have something that interests people, they'll read it. Mine's fanfic, but I know people get lots of comments on the game play critique or personal journaling type stuff too.
Change your filter to english.you see tons of jp blogs because of the default setting.
Jp are people too and like to talk.
And i used to blog til i realized the lodestone is 2 things:
1. Popularity contest.
2. Full of losers looking for girlfriend instead of this thing called "friend".
