That's it. Nothing else.
You got my vote for it. Go, FC Calendar!
[Really, SE, get on this ...]
A helpful suggestion? In the official forums?!
It's more likely than you think!
(Signed. We need this.)
There is the event calender on the Lodestone, you can make it so only FC members can apply.
Not a good idea.
"We are not planning anything of this nature but we will be sure to look into it. Until then please use the Lodestone tools. Thank you for understanding!"
"Due to the heavy strain of new elements on the servers we cannot implement tools of this nature, but we will be expanding the Lords of Verminion mini-game! Please look forward to it!"
I mean come on - what do you expect? Improvements? Expanded community tools?? Developer tools for custom UI elements???
You jest.
FCs need;
- In-game bulletin board,
- In-game calendar (as per this topic),
- Moggle messaging FC members
Well in game calendars are in almost every other mmo, so there is no reason SE couldn't do it. Makes it way easier for guild leaders to plan events. People can check the calendar sign up for events, invite people to events, when it is in game the game can tell you that you invites to events or notify you when an event is about to start.
Instead of them programming it on the loadstone it should been programmed in game for much easier, ease of use.
I do, many do not, or simply find it cumbersome.
I've wondered that before, about the entire FC lodestone page. An embedded microbrowser that you access in-game, that simply presents the FC page, forum, etc would fix this 100%. It could easily be a special desk or other furniture item in the FC house or some similar method specific to your FC. It can't be that hard to create a themed microbrowser tragetted at handling the lidestone.
Not everyone has those resources, not everyone wants secondary devices to play a game.
I'd love it too.
While you are at it, SE, please implement a to-do feature, so that anyone can share his needs about gathering / crafting and get them done by anyone available.
I've tried to use The Lodestone calendar for FC events before. It's just never worth the trouble.
No one checks the Lodestone calendar on their own. Most players don't know it exists, and it's not terribly user-friendly when they do find it. You have to advertise in-game to get anyone to check it, and at that point it's already defunct.
We have the company board, but that's already half-eaten by our Teamspeak info, so there's little room for anything but the most bare-bones description. Also, only allows one message of any real length. Sorry to anyone else that wanted to plan anything.
I'm in a fairly large FC, and we still just use word-of-mouth. We need an in-game FC calendar.
Yes please. Also add to it general game events as well such as Valentines day thing, Halloween etc Resets, unlocks, crafting + gathering etc.
In game calendar would be great, not only for FC but for many other tasks a player can plan to do. Example, a calendar where i can set unspoiled nodes time and so on.
In an FC I used to be in (before its leader left the game and it sort of fell apart), members used to use the short messages any player can set to notify each other if they were planning something they wanted people to join them in. (Peisteskin Map treasure hunts seemed to be the most often planned in advance like that, but sometimes other things were as well.) Not enough room there in the Short Message for any sort of detail, though. A real calendar would be better.
I would love to see an in-game calendar with an option to announce newly posted events/notices on login. I would not however like a direct link to the over cluttered loadstone. I don't enjoy using it and the last time I tried to do an event through it, it wouldn't work for half the people. A much smoother built in interface would be my preference. I would also like them to make sure to not limit event sign-ups to particular sizes as player made events don't always fit within the confines of a raid party.
I actually meant a Calendar on the Fc page on the Lodestone. Our members (all 6 of them) are from different time Zones, it would be a handy tool on our forums page if members could post times they know they would be available for different things such as airship progression, airship voyages etc
Why Lodestone events do not work:
- Requires sign-in each time on an external website not frequently checked by most
- Not PS3/PS4 friendly
- Requires players to leave the game or tab out to a site infrequently used
- No in-game reminders or integration into XIV
- Difficult to set up recurring events for the FC
Why Google Calendar doesn't work:
- External site which becomes a daily responsibility of the player
- No in-game reminders
- Can't regulate who enters/leaves the FC
- If made public, spammers/idiots throw countless notifications of BS on to people's phones
- Not PS3/PS4 Friendly
Why Facebook/Hangouts/Player.me/Discord postings don't work:
- Can't manage or continue to add every person who joins the FC
- No clear way of knowing who is posting what event
- External site requiring daily checking on the responsibility of the player
- Convoluted system not friendly to recurring events, requires as much work from the poster as the viewer
As of today, I've had 2,256 unique members in my FC. It's probably the largest FC that's out there, and unfortunately many go back and forth in this game like a revolving door. The #1 Complaint? Not enough events.
But we do have events, at least 50 different recurring events in our 2.5 years of running. Crystal Tower series, Void Ark, Drunken Dungeon nights, PvP at each launch, training groups, card groups, chocobo groups, raid groups... yet nobody knows anything about them even when using MOTD. We've tried Facebook/Google Calendar/Lodestone. But all of these systems require looking outside the game.
ALL FC Leaders are trying their damnest to retain players, but it's extremely challenging. This is coming from the guy who organized countless promotional XIV videos and even a rainbow parade that was publicized across IGN and Huffington and countless other sites. We desperately need an in-game FC calendar.
