It's Adders that have the short queues on Primal. I'd wager that many are operating on Mael is the strongest GC on primal, and thus flock to that GC, not giving thought to queue times or GC player imbalances. Dimitri, a Primal Mael, mentioned watching xivpvp.com refresh with all the games occurring while he was stuck in hour long queues. I don't have hour long queues, but I do get back to back games.

Primal Maelstrom queues are terrible because they're the most populated of the three on Primal because they win the most. It used to be the Adders back in the days of Seize, but no more.
Adders and Flames queues are noticeably better because they're less populated. If people want shorter queue times, at least for now, their only option is to switch to Flames or Adders.
I'd recommend the Adders simply because they tend to have the best queues, but they win significantly less than the other two.
No, go flames. Your queues will be shorter, relative to Mael, and you'll win more, relative to Adders.
I'm reluctant to switch as I'm level 33 on Mael but considering I haven't been able to gain a level since 3.1 dropped (yes, games are THAT rare for me) its looking worthwhile swapping. I used to play several games a night & loads more at the weekend but I can't afford to queue for Frontlines for 2-3hrs before popping because it ruins the ability to do a lot of other things.
Flames, I dislike you but I might have to join you. XD
Its very sad but quite possibly true, you may be able to get from 1 to 50 on another GC faster than you can get from 33 to 50 on maelstrom lol. The days of me playing 60 to 80 matches a week here seem like a distant memory now and it feels like every week I see more names I've never seen before. Maybe its new players trying to get into PVP but considering how small the pvp community is its more likely people transferring over from other GCs further stressing mael Qs. The thought has crossed my mind of returning to my initial GC adders who I was rank 13 with before frontlines even came out but ended up switching to mael cause of the stupid gc requirement to play with friends. Most of those friends quit already so I dont have that reason binding me to the GC anymore. Re-ranking isnt very appealing though so I likely never will switch.
I've never seen average wait time that low on Aether. But sometimes I question whether average wait time is accurate at all. On the weekends on my new GC, average wait time is usually between 15 and 30 mins - but ACTUAL wait time is probably closer to 5 to 10 mins. And regarding wolves den, average wait time is ALWAYS less than 7 mins, but I've waited for over 2 hours without a pop.
It's weird.
On Aether, about Rank 25+ for all GC in PVP so I have relatively good experience to say that Flames Queue timer is about = to Mael, and Adders timer is pure win. Sure there are days where its bad, but 9/10 you hit it right away within first 15 and go back to back thereafter.
Yeah, on aether, Adders are much faster. And considering I have a near 30% 1st place and 31% 2nd (not great, but still decent) pugging it then it's quite fine especially if you just like PvPing.
Either Way, you'll probably level up and gear up faster.
If you wanna get the rewards, you'll probably have to be patient.
If you're good, come over to the Flames!
If you're bad, please be on Maelstrom.
I need any advantage I can get these days. D:
I was actually pretty good on Maelstrom to be fair. Or so I was told. I'd have to rank up from zero but even if every match is lost that's more exp & marks than never getting a game at all with Mael.
I've been told that Primal Flames have quite long pop times too now, but at least my friend in Flames gets some action. I really miss how much fun it was, hopefully the cheating & botting scum don't play anymore. XD
Quoted wrong text but yeah... Flames queues were so bad.
Little tip for queue times for your second match and onwards. Once you finally get in your first and the battle is over, immediately exit and re-queue. Don't look at the scoreboard, don't commend. Just exit and re-queue ASAP and you'll have a shot at a near instant queue pop. Get distracted and you'll miss out. That said, I'm a firm believer in commending healers at every opportunity in PvP.
Mael = to Flames because both are not even close to Adder's queue time.
Playing on all 3 = Mael and Flames queue timer are almost unplayable.
Adders all the way if you want to farm/rank and actually play pvp.
I'm not sure when the last time you were in either Mael or Flames, assuming you're currently on Adders, but Flames was horrible. Any given day you're lucky to get into a match within 30m. This was about 2 weeks ago before I swapped.
Mael, currently, even as of last night, you get in in less than 5 minutes constantly during primetime (6PM EST onward). Almost always see the same faces each match.
The performance levels on the Flames is hardly "low." My win rate last week was at 60%, though that was only with around 20 matches played.
Usually my win rate averages out to around ~40%+ each week if I play a fair amount of games (around 50), so the performance is not really poor. It really depends on the time of day you play.
I typically queue after 6pm PST.
My matches regularly look like this unless I queue with a premade party:

Thankfully I'm pvping on an alt so I don't really care about its winrate, but it's still frustrating because these people have literally no killing power. That, and they don't listen to directions, be it delivered politely so people don't get butt hurt, or rudely and spammy :|
Ouch, but I was referring more to the Immortal Flames on Primal than I was on your data center, seeing as we are on different data center.
Immortal Flames on Primal are fairly good, but every GC has their screw ups. What I think IS interesting is how no one GC really ever dominates across all data centers.
With Primal it switches between Mael and Flames, with Aether it's usually the Flames, on Gaia I'm pretty sure it's the Adders, etc.
My bad, I somehow overlooked your server and thought you were an Alexander on Aether.
"It's always 'someone else's' fault with these kind of people too"
Oh. My. God. I could rant for days on this. Days.
I don't claim to be a great pvper but I at least listen to calls, don't feed, and stick with the group...which is more than could be said for a lot of people in SR. It's just really frustrating and it makes me wonder why I continue queuing.
