Is this thing serious?
It takes that much to unlock all the folklore?
How the hell am I supposed to even scratch that? Especially with just an iLvl150 HQ set and 600GP.

1: Get to Fisher 60
2: Buy Goblin Jigs
3: Fish your inventory full of Illuminati Perch
4: Realize you just watched 9+ seasons of several shows on Netflix while fishing
5: Be 4 tokens short of book
6: Enjoy the tan you're gonna get in Hinterlands
Is fisher legitimately the best at gathering blues (I suppose it might be due to GP limitations slowing the other 2 down?) or is that just for a joke?
If it is actually useful, what of helping the collectibility? Patience or no patience? Does that have an effect on it?
Fisher can be better just because you're not limited to a few minutes an hour to go for a collectable. I found I got quite a lot of blue scrips this way but still haven't started the 44,550 scrip grind. For red scrips I preferred Chysal Greens & Adamantite Ore.
Followup question: Why should I bother? It's way too much of a grind considering it's all going to go obsolete the next time the level cap increases.
Consider it took a year and half for the first level cap increase. While it might not be exactly that long for the next, it's certainly not around the corner.
I personally stopped gathering scrips after I got btn and min main hands. No desire whatsoever to grind 44k+ blue scrips. And that was like 6 months ago lol (I'd prolly be done by now if had taken it seriously, but oh well)
It's worthwhile IF you have a use for the stuff you can gather off of the Folklore nodes (or the folklore fishing).
If you do not need those things - say, to sell or to use in crafting your own 2 star crafting/gathering accessories - then getting the books is not going to help you at all and you can skip that grind.
That said, it is not that hard if you check to see what Rowena wants, and be sure to hit the 10, 12, and 2 o'clock nodes every 12 game hours. Fishing, I found to be a tad too much RNG, so I used Miner and Botany, whichever gave me the better BGS collectible for that particular node window.
I like to fish then when the other nodes are up in the Hinterlands, grab them (since Morel and Cuprite are essentially back-to-back).
Honestly you don't NEED all of them, unless, of course you have lazy friends and have unofficially been designated to gather everything forever. Then maybe you need all of them.
Either way just get the books you know you'll use first. For example I got all the mining books because I mostly mine. Next I'll be getting botanist books because even though BTN makes me barf, everyone I know keeps asking me to get them some Seventh Heaven. So, guess I'm doing that now.
If you have the inventory/retainer space, you can also stash the cuprite and morel, then turn them in on the days that they have a bonus.
I can only speak for the miner Folklore items: They sell for 20-30K in HQ a pop. But they sell EXTREMELY slowly on my server (your mileage may vary ofc, servers are different). I'm lucky if I manage to sell 1-2 a day.
If you ask me: unless you need them for your own crafting, they aren't worth the effort of collecting 15K blue scripts.
This is also why I haven't bothered with getting the books for my botanist.
What I did myself is sit in hinterlands an collect 6 items per 30min (morel an cuprite )
my inventory an retainers use to get full but I only turn in the one w bonus, sometimes was morel, sometime was cuprite, thats 72 a pop.
I quee from there whatever rulette or dungeon since usually the runs takes 30min by the time I was out I could usually grab one of the nodes, from there was all dedication.
so far I got them all, my advice is to get miner an botanist books first, at least on my server the fish from folklore sell super cheap.
good luck.
I go the Morel and Cuprite route because I don't understand the point of fishing in this game. But I'm doing it slowly. I'll afk at either or site if there's a bonus in the scrips. 360 or 396 every half hr isn't too terrible. It's not OMG great but it's something. I'm one book away from having all my folklore. Thank gawd.
Oh my GOD no. Take #2, switch it with Brute Leech, you'll thank me for it. Yes you're spending scrips on bait but 95% of your catches become the 2 perch types, illuminati for scrips and hinterlands for desynth. The bait cost pays for itself in 1-2 catches per trip and it's a ton faster. Night and day difference.
If you do a 10-12-2 run with one on bonus, it's "only" about 5 real life hours of grinding per tome. It goes quick!
(..or my soul died and now time has no meaning..)
So the average illuminaty perch rate is 2 per patience (2min buff), so lets say you need take 4 mins to refill using cordial a total of 15 times per hour (60min/4min buff+refill), each fish will be 22blue scrip, so those will be 22scrip-fish x2 fish x15 times = 660 blue scrip per hour, so its about same time that said for the miner/btn together, and also its the average rate, sometimes you can get 4 or 5 perch per patience...
Alternatively I have a few steel spoils I could use for brutes, or should I be saving those for favor items?
Either way, what method of cordial farm do you recommend to keep up the fishing? Just do gather dailys and use what I get for however much time that allows me?
Seals. I just use seals to buy cordials.... I turn in gear like no other (I loot whore all dungeon drops. Always. My friends hate me especially when I forget to pass) so I always have max seals. If you don't over-loot-whore then yeah I'd recommend the daily turn-ins. Those are a good seal chunk
ALWAYS roll Greed when doing your DR's. Hand in the stuff you win but are not going to use. Send your Retainers out on Quick Ventures. Hand in the stuff you don't need. Use the GC Seals for both Venture tokens and Cordials.
with the new blue scrip system it's not so hard to reach the 2k cap...i've already done 3 folklores in 3 days with 2-10-12 nodes
I only got the botanist book for the dravanian paprika myself and I've used the morel+cuprite runs for that - didn't take long if I remember and if rng was generous could get 3 collectibles though my avg was 1.5 or so tbh.
Tried the fishing but at the time didn't bother with getting the rod so was still fishing with my lucis so couldn't hit the collectability.
I have light melds to hit 1* min, but it still is doable before that (unmelded HQ 60 white set or blue scrips gear). Blue scrips items aren't rough to get.
Easily then. I was farming the blue scrips with my old lvl fifty accs and the blue scrip gear.
What I usually use is
Discerning Eye
Impulse
Discerning
Impulse
Discerning
Methodical
If the Impulse procs a Discerning I switch that out with a Single Mind. If you don't hit enough with the Impulse, switch those out with Methodical instead. You'll get two everytime (if RNG doesn't screw you that is), and if you use the Impulse method then you can get 4 if RNG loves you enough.
Yeah, that should be the minimum. If you are REALLY having a hard time, then you can do this instead:
Discerning
Methodical
Discerning
Methodical
Utmost Caution
Methodical
Utmost
Methodical
This will definitely bring you past the collectible rating, however you only get one item this way, so I don't recommend it.
That works if your methodical does 113 alone. That will sum up to 451. Getting always three is quite much better than having 49% chance for just 2, and only 9% chance to 4. Which is what the impulsive rotation gives.
I seem to recall hq crafted gear gave 112 or 113, not sure which. Anyway, don't forget food items to increase your perception and it doesn't even need to be the top most ones. If I took hq stuffed artechoke in the crafted hq gear it was enough to raise my perc to the cap (the effect of methodical is capped to 115) and they are about level, what, 35 or so recipe. Not exactly hard to make and most ingredients can be bought from vendors. Now I have added the blue hat for bot my miner and botanist and that's enough to reach the cap without food item.
I always thought the folklore books cost too much, but you don't need to think like you have to get all of them. Just make realistic goals like get one book for now, take a break then see how you feel about getting another later. If you constantly spending too much on something on market board then you can think about getting the folklore book to gather it yourself, otherwise don't worry about it.
