Sometimes I wish you could redo the story on your main even if they have to take away the exp, heck even the reward I just like the choice to run back though the story again. what do you all think would you like the choice to be able do this.

If they take away the character's experience levels and rewards (though I'm confused about what rewards I've gotten from completing the story), would it be the same as just starting a new character.
I would like to NG+ it, at least. Run through it at your current level without the Quest EXP rewards.
I'd be all for some sort of NG+ for MSQ. I have 3 characters at 60 and running the main story is always fun!
Provided you let a bit of time pass between runs.
I would love to be able to do it. Could help alot of low level players too with all the dungeons they make you do in the leveling process.
Definitely a feature I'd get some use out of. I've been wanting to do another run through the story, but the idea of starting over from scratch is more than a little daunting.
Yes. there are certain battles that I would really like to play again, like some of the job quests and a few of the instanced HW battles with the NPCs.
i agree with that. after almost 2,5 years i can't remember most of the quests, would be nice to do them again.
I would love to go through the main story again :) there are loads of bits I can't quite remember and with all the effort they put into these and the cutscenes you think they'd want us to be able to access it whenever we want to.
What a pointless feature, just make a new character.
Petition SE to make the game more alt-friendly as well so it's not like you're completely starting from scratch.
A repeatable story line? That'd take the dev team a lot of time.. but it's a nice idea.
This also works within the confines of the lore too, either as something from the Minstrel's Ballad, or (what I'd like to see) the echo used as a lore justification.
Having said that, this feature doesn't add much, so I wouldn't want to see them dedicate too many resources to it, all things considered
Running the main story line again on an alt was great. If you focus on the story and leveling your alt's main job, the progression is quick and you get the benefit of having the entire story roll out without large gaps (waiting for the next update). It's a much better story experience.
I agree with the OP. It would be nice to be able to replay the MSQ without having to use an alt. All the encounters are already level synced so no worries there.
Glad to see im not alone in wanting this.
All in for NG+. Sounds like a fun-cool idea X). Wish the game gave us more effective story tree options though, it'd make it that much more sweeter :/
This feature is pretty much a new character. Just make another character and start from different city if you like to see something slightly different. There is no real need to implement such a thing.
There totally is! I would LOVE that for the Mainstory aswell as for all the job/classes quests (specially the crafter ones - we dont even have them to watch again) and Hildibrand! Just because I would like to do a specific quest again I should replay the whole game? No, thank you very much...
Make a new character that looks just like your old one and ask for SE to increase experience of players by 50% (per max level.)
Done.
There are some battles I'd like to challenge again. If this can be added to the inn room with little effort, I'd be all for it. But I wouldn't want to replay an entire game just for one battle.
I'd love to have this feature, so long as I don't have to redo any sidequests.
Sorry if you took that as rude.
Your current character going back in time doesn't make sense with the lore. I guess I don't understand the difference between just making something new, if you want to see the cutscenes again with your character you have the journal for that, and you can do the dungeons and trials again...all you're missing aside from pointless filler quests is the solo scenarios (which I do admit it'd be nice to have a way to do again, some of the class quests were nice).

This petition was lost in the myriads of newer edgier posts.
Help rekindle the flame, young adventurer.
i really like to be able redo the main story but im all for redo class/job quest.
No, we dont infact - not every cutscene is in the journal, there are quite a few missing (I cant check right now, but specially for crafters there is almost nothing) and even if they are in the journal all dialouge and such is missing.
I would like to be able to pick up a quest again and do ONLY that quest - may it be MQS, crafting/job-quests or some special side quest like Hildibrand (I would LOVE to play that again! But getting a character up to 50 each time I wanna play through Hilli...? Really?)
I'd like to start a completely new character as a little side project. No money, nothing. My realm is locked though, can't even make an alt D:< I understand OP's POV but sometimes a fresh start is the best start. Your main character isn't going anywhere even if you play an alt. Think of it as an escape from the end game treadmill.
Edit: With all 3 tanks at 60 i'd still start a tank with a fresh character. Some habits just won't die. Apparently there's a time frame when Cerberus allows new characters since i've seen sprouts running about. Now to figure out what that time frame is.
It would make perfect sense with the lore, as long as we're not getting new exp or reward items from redoing the quests. The echo has been used to 'go back in time' at least once in-game (Giving 'past Cid' his goggles); while it's still unclear whether or not we can actually go back in time in such a way as to affect actual changes to what happened, there's a definite canon basis for going back to observe or relive events.
And the journal is far from complete; there are huge chunks of even actual cutscenes missing (MOST of the Lancer and Goldsmith class quests, to my eternal dismay), and obviously there's no way for them to include non-cutscene quest dialogue. There's also the matter of NPCs with changing dialogue or location, and locations that change or become accessible or inaccessible as you progress.
I'd probably be content if they fixed the journal to include the missing cutscenes, but the ability to replay the story in its entirety would make me happier, and probably be the easier job for the programmers.
As far as the instanced fights, maybe we could have a "Holo-Battle" inside The Hall of Begginers that could allow us to redo instanced battles like Siren and what not.
Add a dialog database and maybe even a monster bestiary that you update via combat to add to the holo-training.
Excluding Raid Bosses since you can PF a learning party just as easily.
I'd be happy if we can watch cutscenes in one big batch rather than bit by bit like we do now
Not a good idea. This is another excuse to veteran players enter on dungeon to humiliate the newest ones. And them they wil think that are ''badass'' for solowing a low lv dungeon.
Why implement a feature you can already do?
Delete your character and remake it.
Otherwise its just not an authentic experience.
If they let us skip straight to 2.4 where the story actually started to get decent, I'd be on board. Having to wade through the dozens of hours of mediocrity to get there, though, I'd have to pass on.
I was just thinking the other day how I'd love to play through the story again, but I don't want to make another character. I'd be happy with a feature like this. Give something extra to do between patches and get more people in the story instances for new players.
I need more Haurchefant. All I have to say.
Journal appears to be missing lots of things -- it's great for cut-scenes, but there are certain points in the MSQ where you are in-game, holding a conversation that can never be repeated via the journal.
Like that time that H made comments about my, um, muscles -- I couldn't even find that one again while going through the MSQ on an alt, but I remember it like it was only last year ...
