Personal Housing > FC Housing

Would it be possible to one day be able to convert my personal house to a FC house without tearing down and rebuying the lot? It would help a lot of new FCs out.

To the best of my knowledge they've never mentioned any plans for that, but we can hope!

Would probably need to have some limitations though like one way (can only convert personal to FC and not reverse) and also only the FC owner could do it, but yeh nothing at all mentioned as far as I know, sorry :(

Slightly unrelated, but I noticed the other day when I was snooping around peoples houses that personal houses don't seem to have the door that leads to private rooms? Is that really the case? I never realized that until I randomly came across it.

It just seems odd. Hypothetically speaking, if I had no FC and wanted a personal house, wouldn't I be better off making a dummy FC for a 'personal' FC house? That's one extra room of space you can use for whatever - spare room for RP purposes, store extra furniture in there, and what have you.

Private Rooms are a feature of joining an FC. The cost of them is actually being in an FC, meaning if you make your own personal free company you can't then join another to take advantage of their airships or whatever. So while yes, you can make your own FC and get your private room extension, you will have to pay that cost all the same.

Unfortunately, I seriously doubt they would ever implement such a feature.

Right, personal houses do not have private quarters or workshops.

I know a guy who has an alt-character with a dummy FC.
The main benefit is that you get access to the Workshop, and can craft FC-exlcusive things and make and send out airships. And you could also make a private quarters room.

The biggest downside is that your character would never be able to join a real FC without first destroying your house, since you can't join a new FC without leaving the one you're currently in, and you can't disband your dummy FC without destroying the house. I think you could invite someone to the FC and then make them the leader, and they could keep the house, but either way, you'd lose your house if you wanted to join another FC.

Also, while the workshop can get you exclusive items, you'll need high level crafting to get those things. I think you might also need 3 other people in order to make anything in the FC, though maybe those can just be random people from outside of the FC? Either way, kind of a pain.

If you have high level crafting and don't have to plans to ever join another FC, go for it. I can't recommend getting a dummy FC just for a tiny bit of extra floor space though.

Before Heavensward came out I looked into converting my private house into FC housing for my sons and I and was told you can't convert from one to the other without selling the lot. As far as I know, nothing has changed.

Just don't wait for it.
It reminds me long time ago ppl requested to be able changing FC name,
eventually it was implemented after all of those ppl vanished. So only the FC sellers win^^;

I'd say it's less painful now. If you have a private house and want to change it into an FC house, just stop accessing the house for 45 days. You will be the only one who knows that your house will become available and can grab it yourself again right after the demolition. You will have your 80% refund and a new FC. Sure, it's far from ideal, but it's better than nothing.

Ugh, I'd never risk letting the house go 45 days. I'd be afraid I wouldn't have enough to buy the lot back when it came up for sale again. XD

It's not the tearing down and rebuilding that bothers me. It's the fact that I have to repurchase the lot. There's no logical reason why I should have to do this.

But whatevs. I'm happy that I own a house even if that's the only accomplishment I have in the game, haha. :3

Did we find out what time (assuming nothing goes wrong like on Jenova) the houses get auto-demolished? Is it at the server reset, or is it exactly 1,080 hours after the last time you entered, or is it some other time?

I'd like to know that too. I didn't bother with it too much since I have my house for over a year now but a friend of mine wanted one (and still does... :( ) and we couldn't figure out the exact time while some people were excitingly correct with their calculations. Anyone mind explaining? Like: From what time on did you start calculating (not date which I know was Nov. 10th)? And: How did you calculate in the maintanance times that you ended up on exactly that time the houses actually went down? Any help would be appreciated, since my friend is eyeballing a house he believes will drop soon.

I read that the exact time and date will be written in the e-mails you get after 35/42 days of not visiting your house. You might even see it in the 'timers interface'. I can't say for sure, though. I visit my house every day.
