MB and selling lower than vendor prices

Can we please have the MB just auto-buy items if someone tries to sell for less than the vendor would purchase at?

There's no point to putting them on the MB and some people may not realize that they're selling lower than the would purchase for. If they person is okay with getting less than the purchase price, they should just automatically get their gil and the market board would stop being screwed up on some items.

There is: Other people might want/need the items and the cheaper they can get them, the better for them. These people actually are doing the buyer a favor at their own expense - a selfless act I find rather commendable. I probably would just vendor that trash instead, unless a friend of mine needs it and I can give it away to them.

I want it out of my inventory, and someone else probably wants it.
And I'm standing outside at the bell and too lazy to walk to a vendor. Don't know how this "screws up" some items...if it goes for vastly over, buy it off and resell. If it doesn't then there's probably already a bunch of listing at or one gil above vendor anyway.

Buy them up and sell them to the npcs. Make your profit and call it a day.

With taxes, it makes it not profitable to do so most of the time. Though I did buy 30 of one item yesterday.
When there are 20 items, of the same thing at just under vendor prices, it doesn't make any sense.

Notice I didn't say you had to go to the vendor to sell, I said, let the MB auto-buy them from you if you go under. So you don't lose extra money and the MB stays healthier by ensuring there isn't a flood of money losing items on it. If you want to be nice, just sell it for a few gil more than the vendor purchase price.

It's literally a win-win. You get more gils when you sell things because you don't have to wait for someone to buy your money losing item. Gil is generated instead of lost. (Every item sold on the MB takes gil out of the economy in the form of taxes).
It's just an idea that saves everyone time and gil.

Oh this tactic drives me nuts. If you do this you are just giving people gil since you make zero profit on the item.

Especially when the mats cost 2k and they're selling for 147 gil =/
That's why I just want it to be auto-vendored when they sell too low.

With the near vendor prices you are absolutely correct. I was referring more to the items, that for whatever reason, drop to like 50% of NPC prices (I have seen them).
I would postulate that people get too caught up in the race to be first on the board instead of calculating value.

And with an auto-vendor, they'd get an alert saying "The MB has purchased your weapon due to lower than vendor purchase price" or something, so you stop them right away, after one item. They can continue to vendor if they want, but they no longer clog up the board.

I laugh when I see people have put things up below vendor. Then I grab it up and vendor it myself.

It really depends. On the one hand a slight markup on an out of the way vendor item does wonders for easy access and may be worth it / be providing a value added service.

On the other hand... It's all on the head of a buyer. I know a couple of people who have started doing that recently. Person 1 started, and started gushing over it. Person 2 started after person 1 and person 1 ended up buying vendor items off the marketboard from person 2.

I don't think there's anything wrong with buying things from vendors and relisting on MB. Especially if they're only available from housing or an NPC out in the middle of nowhere.
You pay for convenience in that case.
I'm trying to offer a win-win solution to people who list for too low and are losing money. It keeps the economy healthier and is less frustrating for crafters and the person selling gets more gil.

There's no scam. There is nothing stopping a person from going to a vendor and getting it themselves. Furthermore, it only takes a few seconds to check the internet to see if the piece they want can be bought from a vendor. If people don't want to be bothered to go to a particular vendor, then they are obviously ok with paying the MB price.

When you list an ite. To MB, the starting price it inputs -is- the amount you'd get from vendor. That's already enough of hint of what the vendor value is. If people are tweaking I lower they do know they're doing so.
