help on leathercraft quest 36

anybody know why my pc keeps freezing on leathercraft quest 36

Speaking of this quest (and given the bug report above), I was wondering how the toadskin jackets are supposed to be made. Are they made through the "Requested items" synthing option, or do you make them independently? I'm thinking about making them independently of the quest and then testing to see whether I can progress with the quest. However, I don't want to make them only to find out that they had to be produced through the "Requested items" option.

Can someone who's completed the LTW 36 quest answer my question above? With the items that need to be made, do they need to be crafted through "Requested items", or is this something you synth independently?

It's been awhile since I did that one, check your journal.

I think you make them through Normal Synthesis. I remember this quest being a pain in the ass. Go to ZAM and look it up they have a nice guide on it, if I remember right.

For the record, if you complete the items listed in the journal first (or at least have them in your inventory), the game will not freeze up when you talk to Maddeline.

You make them like a normal synth outside of a quest or leve. I should also warn you that you will need a buffalo leather and a marmot fur to complete the last part of the quest.

I made the five toadskin jackets that were requested and have them in my inventory. I am still getting the freezing bug. I tried putting the extra one that I had onto a retainer, thinking that might be causing some issue, but still nothing. Do you think maybe I should kill the quest and start it up again? Any advice on this would be helpful.

Strange, I just did this and with all 5 jackets in my inventory, she took them just fine and quest advanced. I'm not sure what to suggest if that isn't working for you.

After abandoning the quest and starting over with the jackets in inventory, it went through just fine. Very strange.

How the hell am I suppose to find marmot fur to complete this quest?

Try the local guild shop if the recipe no longer works.

Make your own. Marmot Fur, Alumen, Distilled Water, and Formic Acid are all still obtainable. The only old recipes that were removed were some nuggets.

Wait, wait, wait... what do you even need Marmot Fur for?

Anyway I got the item myself like you said, I just forgot to update the post.
They should update the needed items for these guild quests anyway.

the other issue is in the recipe for the Toadskin Jackets listed in the journal entry for this quest.

it calls for a handful of steel rivets, two circles of toad leather and a steel ingot.
that recipe makes Toadskin Armguards....

The game keeps crashing on me also, when trying to speak to NPC after making the quest items (Toadskin Jacket x5 in this case). So I abanonded the quest and restarted it to see if that fixed it. Now the NPC wants Leather Crakows!!! /scream.

The quests are annoying enough without having to contend with this kind of BS as well!. Seriously SE, sort it out!!

Yea this is fail, SE needs to get the quest updated.

New Toadskin Jacket recipie:

Toad Leather x2
Aldgoat Leather
Diremite Sinew

Don't do like I did and go by the quest ingredients, make the Armguards, then realize the quest ingredients don't make the requested item. >.>

Update: Canceled the quest due to freeze, restarted quest, this time she asked for the Armbands! LOL then a circle of Boar Leather was needed to repair the boots, so there are a few different items that can be requested.

i just restarted today and she still asked for toadskin jackets =/

So make the jackets? I went through it just fine with Jackets.

made the jackets. went back to npc and game froze. not sure how many times i want to attempt speaking to the npc again.

eta: talked to npc again with jackets in my inventory, on leatherworker. froze again. i guess i'll have to abandon and restart quest, again. UGH.

it's very frustrating, considering that:

1) the bug was reported back in oct/nov
2) this is the last quest i need for the chronicler's crown

guess i'll go drink some beer.

I made a thread about this with links to 6 other threads that had GM automated GM responses. The thread was locked within minutes... But I'll list what worked for me.

The requested item can be different, but it always involves toad leather, and as said before its a bug in the journal. Make the item she requests in the dialog, the journal will have the wrong item listed but with the recipe of the correct item. But apparently if you talk to her before making them your game freezes so be careful.

I have already had a lot of beer tonight! I am in the same position as you, this is the only quest I need for chroniclers crown bur I am completely stuck beacuse of a 6 month old bug.

This will absolutely cause me to quit since I have spent over 3 months working on this achievement only to be stopped by something that has been known for a long time!

This is still going on? That's sad.

Here is a guide for you:

1) Open your journal and obtain whatever ingredients it says.
2) Craft those ingredients or look up whatever those ingredients would make.
3) Make or otherwise obtain 5 of the resulting item.
4) Talk to the lady that usually freezes you.

Thanks. I made 5 of both what she said she wanted (Toadskin jacket) and what the recipe was (Toadskin armguard). The armguards fixed it.
