OK so we know we are getting gnats beast quest any conformation or speculation on the mount hoping to see a antlion mount
I think it'll be a size scaled version of the first boss in Sashtasha HM, or the bug B Rank in the Hinterlands. Same model.
Since they're 3.0 beast tribe, I'd be surprised if it couldn't fly.
I'm hoping wamoura >_>
And absolutely no one is surprised by Rocl's preference.
As a guess, I'd say it has to be a mob in the Forelands, but I don't really think we have any new potential flying-styled mounts there other than the Puks/Dragonfly Watchers, since we already have a Wyvern from Hunts. I mean, there are Aevis, but for reasons we all know, we're probably not going to be riding around on one of those.
I honestly have no idea. Either we get another cart-like mount (like with the Kobolds), or a new mob will be introduced as the mount
Skogs Fru
Please look forward to it.
Flying mantis mount would be cool.

We get Ravana himself to fly us around.
Back on 2.1 for the Kobolds we had no idea either. There was no creature surrounding them that could be used as a mount, some people suspect could be those syntetise goblins.
In terms of lore it has some kind of creature that of course must fly but is not a dragon. Some creature that are on the forelands, I suspect.
Also could be a creature created by their alchemy skills. The kobolds did the same using their knowledge.
I expect butterflies to be involved. Like the one's Ravana summons.
Moth mount could make sense.
Im actually more interested if we will learn about the One Mind. Is it a single mind that subverts the minds of all the Gnath under it like some kind of 'queen' Gnath or is it a collective consciousness?
Considering the Gnath's inspirations, It seems to be a Hive Mind, so a mix of both. The collective consciousness having a will of its own and able to subvert and control the minds of the subjects, Possibly while the subjects share all their thoughts and memories. Of course Ravana might be the "queen" in question giing how Tempering AND Hive Minds work, but since there was a Gnath that broke free of the Hive, I assume that Tempering is unlikely (Ravana likely already controls the minds of the Gnath anyway if he's the hivequeen and would only need to temper the actual queen if he's not).
As for the Mounts. Dragonflies are out due to being classified as literal dragons (and thus sentient). Butterflys are 50/50 since they are rather small and the Gana adds might be the souls of warriors (Take wing, ye souls of war!") instead of actual butterflies. Warmouras/moths are unlikely as they only showed up in the Sea of Clouds and Amdapor.
Actualy there is a type of dragon that isn't Sapient; The Dinosaur (The Tyrannosour and the Vinegaroon specifically) so that might be possble. Another possibility is the Gaelicat (Which at least shows up in Sohm Al, assessable from the Forelands, something the Warmora wasn't seen), likely lifting a bench/couch like the Bomb Parequin.
Dragonflies, if I recall, are not sentient. (Actually I'm always unsure how this word is used in these discussions) Dragonflies are in the same hierachy as drakes, biasts, archaeosaurs etc within the Dravanian Horde iirc. They are living, breathing creatures bent to a dragon's will.
Likewise, we have a couple sentient mounts (wyvern, Midgardsormr, Maggie[?]), so I don't think this would bar a creature from being mount-fodder.
We should also take note of a few things that happened with previous Beast Tribe mounts:
Drakes were pretty prevalent in Thanalan and the Amalj'aa camps. That one's a pretty nice fit. Pretty sure Amalj'aa riding Drakes has been canon for a long time.
Goobbues are absolutely nowhere in the Shroud, nor was there any indication of Sylphs and Goobbue relation. (In fact, Goobbues were strictly La Noscean in 1.0 as far as I can recall)
Bombs have likewise always been pretty close with Kobolds, though their classification as voidsent always vexed me. However, before the palanquin reveal, I don't think anyone was banking on a bomb mount. (Hell, I thought an oversized coblyn or golem was more likely)
Elbsts were found absolutely nowhere in the wild before being added to Sapsa sometime after 2.0's release. If I'm remembering rightly, and I think I am, they were pretty unique to Pharos Sirius before Sahagin Beast Tribe quests.
Wolves, like the other 2 main 1.0 beast faction pets, have been pretty solidly associated with their beast tribe. However, like bombs, it seemed very unlikely given their diminutive stature.
the tl;dr is basically Square Enix can do whatever they want for mounts (see: flying adamantoise and Fenrir); applying lore to things like what should and shouldn't be a minion/mount is dangerous business (I appreciate the irony in saying this on a lore forum)
I'm not even sure that would fit as a reply to me, ha.
Nah, Elbsts were added to the Sahagin area prior to the Dailies coming up and rewarding them, they weren't always there. Then you've got the Sylphs mount (although I still maintain that it should have been a Boar, fits with the Sylphs (who breed Boars), keeps the same sneezing skill, and doesn't insult some easily insulted Legacy players), when Goobbue aren't in the Shroud. Finally you've got Kobold, who made their own mount.
OT: I think a swarm of bees/insects could be quite interesting... Rather than sitting on something big like a Wamoura, we'd instead sit on a swarm that flies us around... Perhaps butterflies, like others have said, given the Ravana fight. Imagine sitting on a cloud of butterflies... Would certainly make for one unique mount.
I'm hope it's a bug of some sort...don't mind which, flying on wamoura would be cool though.
Hope it's a giant cockroach that flies. Let it be a unique model, like the bomb palanquin!
Dragonflies are Dragon-kin, and the Gnath hate them, so they won't be their mount.
Damselflies, on the other hand...I could see them being a mount, or pulling a cart of some sort. (These are found in the Hinterlands, and Lost City, and the South Shroud as the Monarch Ogrefly B-rank)
I don't see butterflies being part of it, because they are more connected to Ravana, and the Vath also don't like their Primal.
I'm still leaning towards a cart-like mount (like the kobolds) or a new mob (like the Sahagan)
Flying ant
Just pitching an idea:
Maybe its a type of insectoid beast of burden from the depths of the Gnath stronghold? It could be a beetle reskin of the goblin tank. That one already flies with bug like wings.
They could be a part of the gnath hivemind, and through helping the nonminds we could liberate them. Explaining why we would have to do alot of work grinding rep to finally get one for ourselves.
Since the developers love giving XI enemies the HD treatment;

Bonus points if they keep the backwards foot, or address it in some way.
They actually added this model recently, most people thought it would be used for the XI event, but it wasn't. It's actually a reasonable assumption, given that. They fixed the foot (and in XI, too after the XIV modelers apparently got their hands on it. It only took them 13 years).
Actually, the artwork for the Kobold mount was shown months ahead of its release and it was pretty easy to guess that would be used.
As for the Gnath, considering that they made themself some sort of firearms a mechanical mount wouldn't be too farfetched. Though personally I expect some sort of flying bug.
I actually think it's going to be a loaghtan. Peeps gonna be mad a HW mount won't fly, though.
I'm going to be extremely disappointed if it isn't a giant butterfly with pretty wings.
So appearently it was shown today; but I missed the liveletter and google does not like me.
Does anyone have a picture saved and could show it here? :x
There's a video of it here.
Seems to be around the 58:00 mark of the livestream, kind of an ugly seahorse crossed with a bug mount. Not a fan.
Yeah, kinda ugly.
After it was mentioned, I was kind of hoping it was going to be the XI beetle.
People speculated that it might be the dragonfly scouts that's near their territory, but was disregarded since they don't get along with Dragons.
Yet, it's still roughly the skin of one. Kinda ironic
Other than the four wings I don't see much of a resemblance tbh
Aww, it's kinda cute!
... not that I'm going to get one, mind. I spent most of my modest fortune on my Anima weapon and do not have 200k gil to throw around like chump change anymore. I'll do the quests because the Vath were pretty endearing, though.
