I'm pretty happy with the current state of SMN but I'd like to see a nuke like fester that actually consumes dots and deals damage based on the remaining dot ticks.
Personally skill bloat is already a problem. Instead of more skills I'd like to see jobs branch out into different skill trees. What I'm picturing is something like a quest that alters your soul stone so you're still technically same job but your skills do different things or get replaced with entirely different skills based on how you decide to alter your soulstone.
This game really needs some variety in how you can play your job so everyone is not the same.
I like the idea, but they'd have to add some sort of reset system to that, because people would eventually figure out a meta for each job and anyone who isn't that meta gets ostracized, which ends up with people playing the same variation. I'm all for variety in Job play, but they need to make each variation viable.
Same was hoping to see roles able to branch of to two different roles some of the iconic jobs like white mage might be a problem so just change. For all purposes u could name each branch example. Blm can focused on either pyromancy or cryomancy. BLM pyromancer can be pure dps with fire spells that cause rebuffs and burn(Raw DPS) while a cryomaner blm can bring utility with ice base spells to fortify defenses or even slow the opponents
An additional egi(s) definately.
If not then more "trances" Otherwise, a skill like SCH "dissipate" will be nice
Utter revamp.
Pets being relevant, versatile and responsive.
More general ways to spend Aetherflow - buffing pet, using certain pet abilities, standard caster abilities as now, and maybe buffing self.
Gameplay changing effects based on what pet is out and how buffed.
Pet size changes with buffs.
Pets can be consumed / detonated / eaten for caster buffs, pet nukes, or caster/pet nukes.
Give us the 3 remaining egis.
There was one thing that was coming up for a while, I don't think we saw anything in terms of a response. Ifrit, and I'm adding in Titan Egi, to have either a longer reach or a movement speed boost. Garuda gains a bit when she only has to turn and cast from a distance, while Titan and Ifrit have to get up and close.
I would like to see each Egi have a more defined purpose. Garuda's DoT duration is really hard to beat, just Garuda in general. In both bosses and group situations. In groups using the extended duration and then Bane. Garuda not having to travel as far to reach a Boss that jumps from one place to another..but if you're just casually playing I guess it's not a huge deal. I'd like to see Titan make his way into party play. Rather than Enmity to the pet, maybe help with channeling Enmity to the tank. That would be overpowered though and not needed I guess..but something to bring the rock guy out.
It maybe a QoL thing for me but I wouldn't mind a more precise way of targeting Titans ground AoE / DoT move.
I would like to see a voke on titan egi. At least make it useful as an emergency tank so it has some sort of justification.
Also more differentiation and reason to use all egis in general.
I'd like a defensive cooldown. I can hear my healers seething whenever I get targeted by Earthshakers/Prey/etc.
When 3.0 came out I was dreaming (not hoping, lol) of a different summoner that was immobile with long, complicated summons/casts (think longer mudras) while simultaneously having Carbuncle out acting as an carby-adlo shield machine ( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PCd2SKQFtfM )that you had to activate with precision a la Exdeath in Dissidia. By nullifying incoming damage with Carby's shield and preventing interrupts, you could extend the summoning for a greater effect (by creating a larger summoning circle at your feet, but they gave that to BLM), from an egi, to a primal attack, to a full primal. They would disappear after a duration, but successful summoning would have you summoning the next while the other is out to keep something on the field. This would be too hard to play for most people, but a good summoner who knew fights could do a lot of damage by chaining primals, bad summoners wouldn't be able to do that, and they would have a visual indicator that they weren't successful. It would have been so cool. :D

while browsing for another primal-concerned topic (egi-glam) i came across this statement about future SMN wishes by the lodestone communtiy: "There should be a team summoner option where there are 4 summoners in party you can summon an actual primal to fight for a short while. the real summons!" – what do u think? after focusing on channeling bahamuts power in the HW skills, how can SE evolve the egi-part of the summoner cls at all?
personally i think this would be a great feature for 8 grp-partyplay: the ability to fuse all summoned egis of the same kind out in the field at the same time - 2 ifrit fuse to one bigger one, 3 even bigger, 4 max size > followed by an original primal enrage/enkindle skill which hits hard > splitting them all back to their normal form... nevermind, i hope they'll focus more on the egi-part than on dots or burst dmg skills in the future updates, in a any damn way... :o

Ifrit needs a gap closer akin to MNK shoulder tackle.
Titan needs a provoke skill so he can serve an emergency tank role in parties.
A defensive skill that transfers damage to our pet would be useful.
And the pet glamour system, of course.

I started as a smn in this game, I'm still is part time smn so its a dear class to my heart
first i want new glamour yes yes and yes!! {all of the current summon shall look like the primal}
also i wish they add more and more summons >.> you guys remember playing old ff games that you feel all they joy and happiness obtaining the smn orb and be able to summon them
personally I really pray for Shiva to be added for smn (thats ff 8 feel)
ALSO i wish i can just smn Carbuncle whenever i want instead of taking off my smn soul crystal
i mean they shall fix this n put all summons in 1 icon, it then branch to w/e summon you wish to summon instead of each one having their own icon (summon , II n III)
just one action that make you chose whatever summon to call it would be even useful when they add new summons and yes WHEN @_@ cause they must do
Oddly enough the move I want for SMN is the exact move I most hate with SCH, and that's Dissipation. Give me an ability that sacrifices my minion for +20% damage for 30 seconds and a full refill of aetherize stacks.
I absolutely hate this on the my SCH but as a SMN that would be incredibly powerful to stack that kind of boost in Trance (hence why it's a pipe dream).
I want a class that's an actual pet class first and foremost.
When I first saw summoner I was extremely excited, since iconically in the series, they summon cool things to kick arse, putting out huge numbers, but it's a dot class. Somewhat disappointing for me.
I doubt that'll happen, and I'll just have to wait for another class to be very pet DPS centric. Still, would have been nice.
