So, since it's winter break, I decided to try FF14 out. I've been playing for a couple of weeks and managed to get my CONJ to lvl 57. When I unlock WHM, will it automatically jump to my CONJ's lvl? Or will I have to grind it all the way to 57?

How you got your cnj to 57 without unlocking whm is amazing and disturbing at the same time. Whm replaces cnj unless you remove the stone. But yes the scale together. Have fun doing all the job quests fro. 30 to 60 lol.
Yes, WHM and CNJ share a level, you'll just have higher stats and some WHM-specific skills that are very important for a healer, while losing some less-vital cross class abilities. Ideally when you get a class to 30 you want to unlock it's job ASAP, or at the very least, before you run any group content
How...how...HOW did you get a conjurer to 57 without unlocking your WHM job crystal...you can get it at 30..
Go to Limsa Lominsa. Go to the Arcanist's Guild. Get an Arcanist to 15. Go back to the Conjurer's Guild in Gridania. And for the love of god get your job crystal. Once you equip the job crystal you have a 57 WHM.
But it's not over yet...you've got nine WHM class quests to knock out.
How have I got CONJ to 57 without unlocking WHM? What can I say, the games pretty easy. I imagined I'd hit a wall with some dungeon/trial that would make me completely plateau as a healer. However, I haven't seen a hard dungeon/trial that's made me want to unlock whm. So far, the only thing I've wanted outside the CONJ class is Swift-cast. I don't have MP issues, nobody dies in my parties. The only thing awkward is at the beginning of the dungeon. When they realize I've re-skinned my character too look completely naked. Then they notice I'm a conj. Sometimes there's chatter, but I play on a Japanese server. And I don't speak Japanese. So I'm oblivious to the conversation.
I'd say "holy crap" but you haven't unlocked that spell yet.
They're probably saying "What the heckle"
That's actually pretty impressive, not gonna lie; most people who don't have their jobs (and are seriously playing the class), especially as CNJ, can't get past like, Aurum Vale or something.
Though that's technically optional, so who knows.
Anyway at the VERY least get WHM before you start any endgame or people are probably just going to outright kick you.
EDIT: And don't worry about losing access to Swiftcast, all healer jobs can cross-class it.
For easy transfer of class hotbars type on Ps3/Ps4
/chotbar copy cnj 1 whm 1
repeat with all hotbars that you need to copy.
(e.g. /chotbar copy cnj 2 whm 2 to copy Conjurer hotbar 2 to White Mage hotbar 2)
For PC users use /hotbar instead of /chotbar
/hotbar copy cnj 1 whm 1
I'm surprised none of your dungeon groups said anything about you not having a soul crystal.
It is even more impressive when you see their gear. I wonder how much fun you get in the Vault...
Wow, 57? Holy crap. But I suppose I could see it since the game doesn't make a huge deal out of the Job quest except for having it available. It would have been red (if you hadn't done the cross-class to 15) so I could see how it could be overlooked.
I remember before HW someone in a DF dungeon had every level 50 levelled except none of the jobs, they were all THM, CON, etc. Either way though you're missing out on a ton of spells many are must haves. I think once you hit 60 you'll feel it as I can't see any possible way to do level 60 content without Regen, Bene, Tetra, Assize, etc. You're literally missing half of your tools. Get on that now as you have a lot of work ahead of you now lol.
No Regen and Divine Seal?
......eww.
How in the world were you not cussed out by every tank you encountered in dungeons?
I understand most of your thoughts regarding my current class. My play-style is radical to the majority of players reading this thread. My intention when I started playing wasn't to do something flamboyant. I was more or less bored, wanted to do my own thing in an mmorpg, and I wanted to do it leisurely with zero player communication in game -so I joined a server that spoke a foreign language.
I played FF11 for two years- after it was first released. I achieved 75whm. So when I picked this version up. I expected it to be hard-core like 11 was. However, soon after I started playing FF14, I realized this game was very forgiving compared too how hard-grindy its predecessor was.
I just finished the Snowcloak Dungeon in the main story line. And I'm one main story line dungeon away from unlocking the lvl 50 dungeon roulette. In the two weeks that I've played this game, I can honestly say I've never failed a dungeon/trial, nor has anyone rage-quite on me. I'd say the survivability rate is 98% in my parties. So far I've received 320ish player accommodations with this class. And I can handle the heals easily when the tank decides he wants to train an entire floor.
I've had a blast so far with this class, and I know I'll unlock whm before I enter a lvl 60 dungeon/trial. So, yeah! Fun times ^_^"
i totally can understand what you are doing there– i have an Arcanist on lvl 60 equiped with ilvl 190 too.
Not as main character but i was so upset losing my carbuncal after switching to the summoner cls,
that i remembered the good old days on Ragnarok Online running around with an 99 Novice just for fun...
so i created an high lvl Arc for farming, gathering, fc events, fates, etc all out of endgamecontent and
really fall in love with it - aaaand i can use my carbuncle without a doubt anytime i want ;)
I like people breaking out of the common, doing something nobody else would do - its just surprising :)
Giving a shit on the "must have" rota thingy, "rules" for endcontent, an opinions of random guys ingame
i probably will never meet again after an instance or random raid.
Let nobody ever tell you how you "have" to do things or how your class is "intend" to be played... most of
them are just lemmings talking with half-wise stuff they got on community boards without trying it their own way.
Thumbs up for your idea playing it your way - although without friends you will get a really hard time in the endcontent,
i bet there wont be much randoms left which will take you along, without your cls maxed out toolbox, like other said above.
There will be a point you cant go on but hey:
"This is your story" ;)
sincerly yours
Yuna ^^
Ah! I didn't realize you had done this on purpose. I thought maybe you had missed the Job class.
I'm going to take this thread and post it the next time I see a thread here or on the Facebook pages I frequent about "required" skills for a white mage. It's mainly related to cross-class, but this make a good argument even for class skills. I always take the position that additional skills are handy, but I would never slap the "required" moniker on them because it only leads to cookie cutter mentality. So I applaud your thinking outside the box.
Each job has required skills. Each Job crystal is required. Try doing any relevant endgame content without your required skills and you will be kicked faster than you can say "what is swiftcast?".
All this person did was some early game content and forced some people in the DF to put up with him attempting to heal beyond level 30 without his soulstone.
He's not even gone past snowcloak (yet is level 58, must have done a lot of grinding). Dungeons are easy, and is not a good argument.
Find someone who has cleared savage (or even synced coil) as a conjurer then we'll talk. :p
I'll tell you right now, a healer without swiftcast, a physical dps without invigorate, and a tank without provoke will always fail to do their job compared to someone who has them. In this sense, these skills are indeed required.
I completely agree with you. From how I was interpreting everyone's response (be it negative or positive), I was getting the feeling that everything I've accomplished so far was considered difficult to FF14's community. So props for giving me a definite heads-up when I'm going to plateau as a healer.
Swiftcast... nom-nom-nom. I've wanted that since day 1 of playing. I've compensated by stacking my gear for as much Spell speed as I can. Currently at 634 spell speed, so a cure is 1.79secs in dungeons (I'm looking forward to equipping my lvl 60 gear to double my spell speed).
I hope you don't take anything I say as offense. It is still rather impressive you made it this far (though more from a social standpoint than the actual content in my opinion, I can't help but think you've gotten ridiculously nice people in your dungeons to deal with it).
When you enter HW content you're really going to be at a loss though, I think. You may have noticed how you completely stopped getting abilities after level 50, all of them are tied to job quests past that point, and even some of the level 60 gear is literally marked as "White Mage ONLY".
More power to you whatever you decide to do though. I'm glad you had fun with this experiment, I've actually had fun tampering with classes in the past since they can equip up to 10 cross class slots instead of 5 and aren't limited to what classes they can pull from, there's lots of fun things you can do haha.
As for your question of what is endgame, it's extreme primals, coil, and alexander. Alexander is the level 60 raid.
I can't imagine you'll have an easy time with it (if you do it level synced), just not having regen would drive me crazy @_@ but at least you got medica II eh?
Well, if you're interested in the social aspect. Most of the time the dungeon starts with, "Hello, nice to meet you. LET'S DO THIS!" Types of greetings towards one another. Occasionally I'll get the random /blush emote directed at me because I have my gear skinned (male character) to tribal tatoo'd arm sleeve, subzero like mask(metallic blue), and cheetah man-thong (metallic blue).
On the rare occasion someone will ask why I'm a conjurer (like 1 out of 30 dungeons), and on the even rarer case. Someone will rage (like 1 out of 200 dungeons). I can tell they're p/o'd because they use the auto-translate, and write paragraphs to me. For example, today I experienced the worst player in the dungeon, "The Aurum Vale". Upon entering the dungeon our Dragoon had something lengthy to say towards me while I was buffing the group/waiting for our tank to skip the cut-scene. After we entered the first room, the tank pulled the toad back into the little narrow slit we start out in (business as usual), then after that fight we pushed out, and the DRG couldn't stop agroing groups of mobs. (I swear it was intentional because we literally fought the entire first room at the same time. Me and the BLM had fun sleeping/reposing while I chain spelled cure II).
At the end of the fight I had less than 1k mp, and my abilities were all on cool-down. So... the DRG rushes ahead of us and starts the boss-fight. Causing us to wipe because I ran out of MP. He then waited for me and the rest of the group to come to his dead body (I raised him), and he immediately attacks the boss again (even though I hadn't cast a healing spell on him). We jumped in, he died, and I didn't raise him until after the boss fight ended. Everything was smooth until the final boss, then he refused to eat any fruit, (causing me to spend loads of mp on him) until eventually, he gets one shotted (full hp and I re-applied stone-skin on him) when he had 8 poisons stacked. I didn't raise him at all after that and thus concluded the dungeon.
So basically, the games do-able as a conjurer (at least to where I'm at) until, "The Chrysalis" trial in the main story (That's the latest dungeon I've completed). Basically, everything runs smoothly unless someone throws a hissy-fit, attempts to wipe the party, then complains about it (Because of him he caused a complete party wipe, then proceeded to kill himself two more times. Suicidal player ftw.)
Doable but boring lacking all the WHM skills.
I've run many dungeons as a conjurer up to i110, just for a bit more fun... so yeah it's totally do-able.
I even healed the vault litterally gear-naked... You would be surprised to see what a healer can do even without cross-skills. (which is not entirely true, as we can use other cross-skills, such as critbuffs)
Sadly, the highest weapon a cnj could wear is, afaik, i170.
How on earth did you get that far without unlocking WHM.
You're missing:
Presence of Mind (haste cooldown)
Regen
Divine Seal (god button)
Holy (AoE nuke)
Benediction (instant heal to full)
Asylum (placeable healing aoe)
Assize (Instant aoe heal/damage)
Stone 3
Aero 3
and at 60 you'll be missing Tetragramaton (an instant heal that heals for about as much as cure 2)
So, I'm lvl 60 conj, currently knocking out instances in the HW main story line. Everything's still easy in instances, so I haven't plateaued yet. The way things are moving along, I'll probably finish the main story in a couple of days. And I'm starting to accumulate Tomestone of Esoterics for i210 gear. This is so lolz. hahahaha
If you're healing AND actively dpsing I'd be impressed. But it doesn't take much to spam cure/cure II with medica II up for the party.
You really need to unlock white mage bro, it's soooo much more fun than boring conjurer.
Also...um...it's not even possible to get esoterics until you've beaten the main story for HW, nor is it possible to wear esoteric gear as a conjurer. So good luck with that.
I've already stated that I'm going to unlock whm multiple times. I'm just waiting until I reach an instance that destroys me. I'm on, "The Limitless Blue (Hard)." And if I'm not mistaken, that means I haven't completed HW's main story yet. I dunno what too say either, but I received 15 esoterics in an instance (after I dinged 60). And I never claimed i210 conjurer gear. I just said, i210 gear in general. Meaning, I haven't seen the vendor for esoterics yet.
