New Hairstyle On Long-Eared Races

So.. in 3.1 you came out with a new hairstyle that spans across all races and for both genders..

I was looking forward to using this new hairstyle on my Elezen who has short ears.. But then I tried it out and I was like "No." and quickly reverted back to his original hairstyle.

This is the hairstyle in question. I wanted to showcase how it looks on an elezen with max ear length. EVERY hairstyle to this date has had consideration for longer eared characters.. But this doesn't, why?

Can we please get an edit on this hairstyle so that it can take into consideration the longer eared characters?

Please, SE. D: I want to use this hairstyle for my elezen but as it stands.. this .. is ridiculous. I'm sure other elezen/lalafell agree here.

Unfortunately, this clipping happened with Monks and the new Sky Pirate gear too. I doubt anything is changed, which sucks. :(

That clipping is only natural tbh. Only way this wouldn`t be an issue is haircuts that either don`t have any hair on the sides or something extremely complex that would have into consideration every possible ear combination of every race which its obviously not happening.

One day videogame graphics will overthrown the dictatorship rule of poligon model clipping... But today is not the day.

Preventing clipping will likely be impossible for decades to come, and that's being generous. Regardless of that, that's no excuse for SE not to develop hair that has all races in mind. Want the hair to cover Hyur ears? Fine, then make it so when it's worn by a long eared race it goes around the ears. The Lalafell isn't so bad, but the Elezen... wow.

As a proud long-eared gentleman this is precisely why I tend to go for updo styles. I guess I'd rather they made it available than made it into an 'everyone except long-eared people' hairstyle as some people probably don't care, but it doesn't look great.

I like, and use, that hairstyle. The clipping doesn't bother me in the slightest because I've seen what aggressive resistance towards clipping looks like. XI had all characters stand, move and act in ways that kept clipping to a stark minimum. It looked rather unnatural, everyone stood with their legs apart, arms held out a good foot from the body. This was because they had to account for all manner of weapon and armor to keep the clipping down. Here everyone stands rather naturally, idle in poses that look natural and, more importantly, possible. I'm honestly tired of all the, "Oh god, the clipping! My immersion!" I mean, because of it we will never have Ysayle's hair because that hair is a clipping nightmare. Oh how I want Ysayle's hair...

I think the issue is longish to long hair on Elezen all have a part where the ears hang out except this one and it is noticeable.

However I am at a loss as to how they could make it have a part and still be the same hairdo. It's all brushed back instead of hanging.

Thats the reason I dont use this hairstyle, it looks really bad. They could have made a gap there for the long eared races. :/

Well it looks like there's a break in the hair underneath the part that clips. Like for the sideburns and bangs. Also on the Lalafell; the hair could be feasible if they'd move that break in the hair on the side of the face back just a bit to where it fits behind the ear. It could be something they could for Elezen as well.

They can keep the hair before the ear there.. just make it shorter and put a break in between the hair and ear

There is another issue at hand that is being overlooked, as well. Designing hairstyles that have no clipping for the ears for Hyur, Elezen, Lalafell, Roegadyn and Au Ra horns means that there will be a very unsightly void of an ear in that same spot for Miqo'te. Look at all of the hairstyles Miqo'te have access to. There are only a couple that show this portion of the head, and if you look at it and actually notice that they don't have ears in the normal place, you will see how awkward they actually look. So in other words, when they design hairstyles meant to go out to every race, they have to either make Miqo'te look off-putting or have clipping with ears for other races. A large part of styling hair is centralized around the ears... How it interacts with them is very important to aesthetics. Since Miqo'te have ears on top of their head and a lack of any sort of facial feature there, some hairstyles look pretty bad. If you notice, every single one of the original Miqo'te hairstyles completely covers this region of the face to prevent this. Only a couple of the newer additions show that part. The minfilia hair is the only one that shows that space that i don't personally find appalling.

Then we'll have a case of each race getting a new hairstyle maybe every year, no thanks.

Immersion should not be an argument tbh. Immersion died the moment bikinis were introduced into the game. That being said, rather than clipping, work on a good glamour system! Kthxbye

This is the real answer, here. When adding a new hairstyle for all races, small changes should be added to account for racial differences while keeping the overall look the same. Essentially, six similar hairstyles should be added, not just a single, identical one across all six races.

I mean, it's obvious why they didn't; this method is a lot more time and money efficient since you just design one hair and bam, they're done. The price paid, however, is clipping.

The entire game is a copy/paste. I'm not surprise that some hairs look weird on other races. You guys are gonna have to get used to this because this isn't gonna change anytime soon.
