No support for progression

Greetings!

Back when housing was first released, me and my FC didn't have enough money for a large plot so we settled on a medium.

This was great and we have had our house from day 1, we've invested so much time and money in to the house to make it the way we want to be and so our company feels at home.

However, we have recently been in a lot of heated discussion regarding housing since a lot of the large plots were vacated due to inactivity.

Now that the opportunity is here and we have enough gil, we would like to move to a large plot as we're growing in numbers - but there's no easy way to do it.
All the housing items we've dedicated a lot of time and effort in to making are destroyed upon removal, which is a little frustrating.

As well as this, we will lose our private chambers - we've got no problem paying for them again but we will lose a lot of unmovable items.

As a free company owner, I think I should be able to show my free company progression, I want to be able to reward my members with the house they desire after saving up so much money.
My members feel disheartened that after saving upwards of 100 million gil, they may have to spend a lot more gil than expected to get their beloved items back.

Here's my 2 cents on this topic, create a feature that allows an FC to move house.
Example;

• FC currently owns a house, they attempt to purchase a second plot but it informs them that they already have a plot
• A question is brought up on screen - would you like to transfer all of your housing items to your new house?
• You click yes and then all of the items in the old house are packed in to a chest/container that is placed in the new house.
• Said chest can't be simply "accessed" - you have to open the housing/decorating menu and you can select the items from the chest as you would from your inventory

A solution like this would work, because the items are NEVER in the players inventory, meaning they can't be sold and will still be destroyed if a player attempts to remove them.


Another possible solution would be to bind breakable items to an FC, so they can only be used and accessed by FC members.

The only downside to this would be people stealing items from personal homes.


Thoughts? Any chance of dev response?

There was suppose to be a "house moving" feature implemented before the new wards in 3.3. However the feature was not mentioned in the last live letter, which makes me a bit worried. Did they ditch the feature?

also your whole workshop projects and exploration rank + assembled registered airships get destroyed...

last time when I checked (some days ago) there was only 1 large plot on odin left from the inital demolished ones

i dont know if its still available, but you should hurry if you want it x)

Considering how important the move feature is, and the fact that they wanted people who wanted to, to be able to move to ishgard, it must be coming.

You need to think 4D (future), plots will be available some time in the future when they're abandoned due to the lack of content.

There was a large plot available days after the relinquish?? they all went, all sizes, within 1 minute in all areas on Hyperion. I sprinted and got one though in Mist. I wanted plot 11 in Gridania but saw none were available, so immediately went to mist.

well, you wrote "now" in your inital post, not in 2 or 3 months :p

Personally, I'd like a feature that allowed us to expand our current house, as I am pleased with the location of our current plot. All of the larger plots don't have the same view and conveniences.

Another reason that I do not find "upgrading" to a larger plot that tempting is that I do not like the interior layouts of the larger plots. Some added control for a customized room layout would also be nice (adding additional rooms, moving rooms, expanding the basement, etc). Being able to move the workshop door to another location would be nice too.

I would like this option. And the option to then sell your old plot and get 90% of your gil back from the purchase. That would be very nice. I believe this feature is coming but they are talking about around or after Ishgard.

I would suggest adding a "house relocation" function,
For moving to a same size or larger plot.

While purchase the new plot when you already have a house, you have an option to buy "house relocation",
the cost would be for example, the permit (i.e. 3.5M for large) x 1.5 or x2 etc.
Then your existing plot will be released and everything will be put into the new house directly.
Private chamber / Workshop progess / Chocobo in stable / Plant on gardens..etc everything will be carried to the new plot.
So you just need to relocate your housing item. ^^;

Ideally also adding some discount for trade-in your old plot when purchase this "house relocation".

They announced the feature.

I wish this was a thing now. My FC went through something similar, We tried to relocate, and we demolished everything, our two airships, all chambers, everything but all our unmovable furniture, to move from a small cluttered house to a large mansion plot.

Sadly, we get error messages saying that we can't demolish the house because items are still inside (even though there are none) and a bunch of other problems with that house when we tried to move. Even after contacting the GMs about it. :/

Your suggestion would have saved us 38 mil if it were already in place. Dang.

Sadly I don't think that would ever happen, they seem pretty dead-set on irremovable items staying irremovable so primal crafting mats stay popular. Nice idea, though.

I am very much afraid that the upcoming Move feature will work very much like the way the current Demolish system works, requiring you to pick up all furnishings and lose private rooms/workshops. My prediction is that the only benefit of the Move feature will be that you won't have to pay for the new plot/housing permit.

I have no evidence for this, I'm just basing it on the way SE has handled all housing features up until now. Who knows, maybe this time they'll surprise us and put in a feature that's convenient and user friendly.

Nah. If you move, your stuff will likely just go to the housing vendor that keeps your stuff from auto relinquish

I dont think Ishgard will be a housing ward... Didnt they say in the live letter that the ishgard will be mansions with like 500 rooms?... So its pretty much a apartment system. Unless they plan to add that sort of thing to all the housing wards.

Now that new housing has been announced, this is more important than ever.

Right. this bummed me out too. I have spend ALOT of money on my large house with items i cannot bring with me if i destroy my house or manual move. Took alot of time and it is because they promised us this move function.
And now its no where to be found.

It was never promised as a feature that would be added before the new wards coming in 3.3, nor has it been forgotten.

Which seems too vague to be any confirmation, with the use of "around the same time", as that can be before or after the addition of increasing the amount of land.
