I have two macros: One that informs the group that I am using Divine Veil and for the healer(s) to NOT heal me. My second macro is letting them know that Divine Veil wore off, and to continue healing me.
A few people told me it's unneccessary because Veil should be used to shield the party. Others told me I should quit tanking lol...

Maybe it's the FibroFog affecting me but I thought the whole idea of Divine Veil was to get the heals that trigger the shield for your party. Or am I a bad Scholar & have been doing it wrong?

DV defends me for 10% of my max HP. There were times where I took zero damage with DV up before I was healed. The instant I'm healed, the shield leaves me and is transferred to the party.

Unfortunately, you are understanding the ability wrong. Here's how it goes down.
1. You activate Divine Veil.
2. A buff is placed on you, lasting 30 seconds. This buff does absolutely nothing for you.
3. You receive a heal from a party member.
4. You lose this buff, and a shield is applied to nearby party members. This shield absorbs damage equal to 10% of your maximum HP.
I'd like to reiterate this again: The buff that you have before you are healed does not do anything for you. It is just there to wait for a heal, whereupon the ability's actual effect will apply.
Always get that heal during Divine Veil. The ability is completely wasted otherwise. -

Divine Veil does literally nothing for the paladin at ANY POINT. It's purely a 10% AOE stoneskin on the other 7 players. The buff isnt transferred, the first buff on the paladin is merely the "holding buff" that requires the heal to trigger.
Also, once you get used to how Divine Veil works, you shouldnt ever need to macro it. If you know the flow of a fight and how the party moves and positions you can easily time it to go out at the point a healer uses an aoe spell (or is spam healing with you) and it'll pop off anyway. -

The fact that its activated by a heal is why people told you to quit tanking.... because you are activating a defense buff not meant for you but the party... that triggers when you are healed.... lol. Sorry but its kinda funny.

Divine Veil and Stoneskin are really the only two compelling reasons why PLD might actually want copious amounts of Vitality. Stoneskin's function gives it good parity with high Vitality if the PLD can cast it on themselves, as its effectiveness scales directly with the target's HP. Divine Veil is similar, because the shield given to the party is based on the casting PLD's HP.
Unfortunately, there isn't enough need for tanks to generate that extra mitigation in the current paradigm, so Vit tanking is still only for stubborn folks (or people idealistically hoping 3.2 will change things). -

Man, it's pretty weird, though.
I used Divine Veil and Sentinel on Oppressor for the Tank Buster and lived, unless I missed a healer hitting me with a type of shield or something. -

that's the way dv should have been made to work but to the caster the 30 sec "buff" is nothing but a timer for the healer to heal you and ss all with it.
as usual plds get the odd utility like clemency getting interrupted and all. like really plds exchange dps for more useless utility's that don't make up for the loss of dps in general...
I would love to be able to use my pld in the true endgame without having to over gear when the other two tanks can do it with less gear no problem and all.... -
