Hi folks, I searched for this specific question, but only found general info on openers. I think my opener is relatively solid, this is specifically for fights like Thordan EX, where you do not need to mitigate anything actively for some time, so the use of vengeance or RI is fine.
my starting opener is :
HS->BS->maim->eye->HS->SS->BB->potion->HS->IR+zerk->cleave->infuriate->cleave->RI->maim->eye->HS->SS->BB->fracture->cleave->pacified (second brutal swing in there whenever it's up, forget exactly where)
So question 1 is: can anything in there be improved? and the big question number 2 is:
After pacification comes off, obviously infuriate, berserk, and inner release are now all on different cooldown timers. Is it more optimal to save zerk/IR for when infuriate is back off cooldown? or should IR be used the instant it comes back up again?
Again, this is assuming fights where I am offtanking and maximizing dps only. Obviously with incoming tank busters it will be different.

Better Wars can answer more specifically, but I assume you mean eye instead of path? You want the slashing debuff
I think it's slightly better to open with 2x eye combos before zerking the triple cleave, this makes sure the debuff stays up long enough
Personally I pop IR whenever it's off cd after the opener, it has a relative short cd time so I don't see any particular reason to delay it unless berserk is about to come back up (this happens around the 3rd berserk, iirc) -

I don't believe path is used in any opener/rotation. I haven't used it for a long time. Just use Storm's Eye.

1: Yes. Pooling Berserk in your opener is a DPS loss, even if it gets you the 3x FC. You're better off with something like:
Vengeance + RI -> HS -> BS -> Maim -> IR + Berserk -> SE -> Pot -> Fracture -> HS -> FC -> Infuriate -> FC -> Maim -> SE -> BS -> HS -> Maim/SS (SS if you've got Minuet, Maim if you don't)
There's also the 3x FC opener that only pools berserk for 4 GCDs:
Infuriate -> Vengeance @ 1s -> pull >11s -> HS -> Maim -> BS -> SE -> Pot -> HS -> IR + Berserk -> FC -> Infuriate -> FC -> RI -> SS -> BB -> HS -> Maim -> BS -> SE -> Fracture -> FC
And other variations. But you definitely want to put up Eye instead of Path first, unless you just misremembered in which case... carry on. ( ' - ' )b
2: If you can get 3+ Berserks off it's better to use IR on CD, if you can only get 2 then you want to combine it with Berserk. I think Infuriate is best used for 3x FC, though I'm not 100% positive on that, just what I use it for. -

I am curious to know how much difference the two rotations are at. As I lost the /random role with my best friend, I am a little out of practice due to maining DRK/PLD for raid -

@ Alexi - I haven't ran against another war while on drk/pld (my pld would prolly struggle since only 180 weapon), but when I war the only time it's really ever an issue is if I butchers block under berserk. *Correction* I was thinking about final coil days, t11 I would open with SE>BB and that first BB would always rip off my pld buddy. -

Losing the small amount of time on the opening is not a big deal unless it lines up poorly with a boss immunity window or costs you a Berserk usage during the fight. So your opener might be perfectly fine. And, the double FC portion of a manual stack building opener should still line up with Battle Litany. The only way the third would line up is if you use the pre-infuriate triple FC opener but it would be a tight fit.
And of course you parse higher on a shot duration parse. You are cutting off the low DPS manual stack building phase. -

Yeah, so for thordan it may not make a lot of difference. it's just a choice of un-berserked stack building at the end, or beginning of the first phase before he goes un-targetable.

It's minimal gains, though, so it really doesn't matter - you can easily use OP's opener in Thordan and still parse perfectly fine. It's way more important what you do for the rest of the fight than what you do in your opener. I'd recommend parsing for 3-4 min and seeing what works best for you, and then try and see which works best in actual content like Thordan (results may vary).Quote:

But then again, I would double up my oGCD pushes and go STR pot > Berserk > and then proceed with the same combo. Why? because heavy swing is a 150 potency and skull sunder is a 200 combo potency and under the influence of Berserk.Quote:

yeah, my original rotation was ending with fracture, only IF there was enough time before pacification. I could totally see why you would want to use it before spending 5 stacks on Fell cleave now, however with my skill speed, it's so very tight, that i'm always afraid I won't get the third cleave if I use fracture first.

A triple fell cleave will make infuriate be on cd too long. Also u don't wanna make ur geoup wait that long since u only have 50 minutes, so say 15 seconds before pull u pop raw intuition then vengance then do ur double cleave hopefully getting them off under trick attack. Use raw intuition the second it's bak usually for a 5th stak then double cleave wth infuriate again before phase ends. Do ur main tank a favor and when ur on his ass in aggro dont butchers blok when u know u mite jump him in aggro. Reset eye or path.
