Consider Raising the House Sharing Cap

Please consider raising the house sharing cap. Originally, people were saying it was five but it turned out to be only three...

I don't think raising it to five (or more) will have a negative effect. Instead, I think it'll have a positive one. The more people that can share the better for the community, in my opinion. Of course you can share a FC house with a large amount of people(I have a FC house which I am "head of decoration" in). But I don't see the harm in sharing a personal house with a lot of people either. The only differences is we don't all have to be in the same FC and we can ALL be close friends... which is not always possible in FCs.

I know some people will say that the more people you share with, the higher risk of furniture being stolen. That might be true, but that same risk exists with FC houses. Why should that only limit personal housing?

My personal reason for requesting a cap raise is because picking only three of my friends to share with has caused drama. While five will not solve my problem completely, it'll still help somewhat alleviate it. I bought my mansion(note: with 100% of my own gil) so that I and a few close friend could put our heads together and create something special.

I agree and thought it was originally five as well.

They probably reduced it to their usual excuse of server limitations but temporarily the addition has been welcomed and more will definitely be welcomed.

It should be even more - why not make it 10 AND give people a small shared chest to place housing items (this has been suggested elsewhere, a great idea.)

I would really like it to be up to the number of people that can be on your friends list. I would /love/ to open my housing to most of the people on my friends list without having to pick and choose 'favorites'.

It has actually been a bit of an issue with me, I do not want to have to choose favorites amongst my in game friends. It has been very tough to not make anyone feel left out or unwelcome, to the point that I have been cycling through friends (removing permissions to some giving permissions to others to give everyone a little bit of time) or just not sharing my house at times due to trying to be fair.

I was cycling through friends too, but I stopped when one of my friends had a meltdown. I've picked three who'll use the house the most and that's that.

If a 'friend' is having a meltdown over something you bought with your own work and gill then you should start looking at what type of so called friend they are.

I don't know about the entire friends list, but even 5 would be so much better. I'm currently rotating my tenants because I have so many friends without personal housing, and also because lots of people want to hang out in Mist. I also really like the idea of having a Company Chest like item for private housing. Now that a lot of active members have access to housing, I'm hoping more people will chip in with these suggestions and actually get heard. It would be nice to see the residential districts get some updates.

A shared chest between tenants would be awesome.

You're limited to only one FC. It's a great idea, but it's essentially just trying to bypass the limitations on community in the game itself. I support the concept, but I think it's incredibly unlikely given that the limitations have obviously been implemented intentionally.

But, I could be wrong, and we could just add it to the list of dozens(hundreds?) of things developed with little or no forethought.
