Yoshi-P Praise Topic :D

Let's take a moment to reflect on how Yoshi has made this the best MMO in the market:

Completely revamped the entire game in 2.0, making the greatest comeback in gaming history since FFI.

Is constantly pushing out new fresh content in the game every few months.

Actually communicates with the playerbase and directly addresses their concerns. Certain other MMOs NEVER show this kind of devotion to their players.

Has made raiding more accessible. Now I dont have to be hardcore or pay for carries to see the story.

SOOO many character customization options! I've bought so much fantasia to make my character look however I want.

Amazing housing. Not only can I customize my character, but I can also customize my house! It's really refreshing to have a place in ffxiv to call my own!

And so much more that I could go into. Every time I see Yoshi in a live letter, you can literally see how tired he looks because he works so hard pouring his heart into this game. Don't let all the negative haters and naysayers get you down!

Most of what you said has been done by WoW as well. Not that they aren't any better off for it, but it's completely false to say that yoshi p is special in this regard.

And some of that just isn't true... Like "fresh content" per patch, at least for the the case of 3.0 anyway

It did make a come back and save the game. Greatest comeback in gaming history? Doubt it. FFXIV Realm Reborn brought nothing new to the table. It borrow the same formula as wow and rift already have and make it a casual game where everyone enjoy. I admit 1.0 have it flaws, but atleast it's different and stand on it own as unique game. Now it's just another wow game with a Final Fantasy franchised title slap on it.

You mean the same Yoshi P. Rehash same contents formula we get every 3 - 4 Months? 2 New Dungeon, 1 New Trial, 1 New Raids, Continues of Story Quest and new PvP rules and zone?

This same formula have been going on since 2.0, even later then that, and here we are in 3.0 and almost another expansion in and we are still seeing the same rehash formula being used. People are getting burned out and bored of this formula already. A lot of people have left the game due to the horizontal gear progression and tomb grind.

Yeah, it's great isn't it? Players have been asking for a better housing system, more wards, better inventory management, more inventory slots, que when Chocobo being summon, Egi Glamoured, Trust System, etc.

Oh wait, we got our answer with server limitation and they gave us Lord of Vermillion!

Like how Alex is overtune and static and friend breaking up because of it? How Alex is such a step down and let down from the Epicness of Coils and a much more boring storyline that no one care?

Compare to other game, it's very average. Aion, Black Desert, Guild Wars have way more complex Players Customization.

I wouldn't call Amazing Housing when the limit is so little with small being 50, medium 100, and large 200. Wild Star tototally blow FFXIV Housing out of the water.

Also, you have to note that less then 20% of the players base are able to own a House because of the limitation of housing and it isn't instances. It doesn't help either that Housing are broken. Alts can buy all the Housing Wards, making the rich monopolize the market making rich more rich, and the poorer more poorer. It sad that only a few percentage have to experience what Housing is like. Not to mention all the FC out there that want a House but could not.



Sure, FFXIV is a great game. But it far from being the best and number one MMORPG out there. It could do better and have so much potentials. Only FFXIV and WoW now have a subscription based with little or no competotion, but it won't stay like that forever if it keep using the same boring rehash with every new contents being released. Stop it with the excused of server limatation. Stop it with this horizontal gears grind progression. Enough of the new tomb we have to grind every few month just to become obsolete in 3 months. No one want to work hard to get the best gears to have it become obsolete so fast in a couple of months and back to the same grinding. Stop thinking the same formula will work forever.

Strickly speaking I would argue only two of his points are valid for WoW.

Regardless that doesn't make the achievements of FF14 and its dev team any less valid.

I don't know about you, but with each day, the world of Eorzea feels empty to me. It looks pretty, but it's empty. There has been very little in this game that actually 'draws' me in. But when you can fast travel everywhere, it just kinda eliminates the world around you. As previously mentioned, stuff in 2.0 was "relatively" new. But as time went on, you notice that nothing was changing and things were just being rehashed with a new coat of paint. Even now it's like this(HI RELIC WEAPONS). It might have been a booming start, but I don't believe it's as booming as it was in the past.

with the 3.1.5 relic being just rehash of the stuff we already did, and even a lot of mechanics in new fights are jsut rehashed mechanics I'm not seeing much "new fresh content" anymore

The limits on the items you can have in houses is ridiculous, I swear my friend finally got one and she cant customize it to make it her own because it wont let her. not to mention the limited housing. in its current state I don't see everyone ever having their own private house.

and this statement right here, maybe he is completely honest with this thread and this is how he really thinks. And I am so glad you are enjoying this game so much, heck I love ff14 its my favorite MMO ever. It's just far from perfect

Game is far from perfect. But I think devs and Yoshi are doing a tremendous job

Well, I'll throw in that FF14 is the most enjoyable MMO I've ever played which is why I'm still playing it.

Its story and lore is wonderful.

Its world is rich, atmospheric and beautiful.

Its crafting and gathering systems have the type of depth Ive always wanted in an MMO.

Its not perfect but that's alright. No game ever will be.

For those who are unhappy with the game, why not take this thread as an opportunity to actually give some positive feedback. Clearly the game had redeeming enough features for you to actually want to play it in the first place and care enough that you haven't just walked way. Plus there are plenty of places negative feedback is given already.

Maybe it's among the best in the current market, but I have had a lot more fun in other online games than in this one, to be honest.

Nonetheless, I'm really impressed with taking down 1.0 and revamping things. That took a lot of commitment and resources, as well as faith from upper management, which I am sure involved a lot of promises from Yoshi to get done. I'm also quite sure that the dev team works with one hand tied behind their backs, not being given the money, infrastructure and staff they need to truly make this the best on the market. For what they do get done I am impressed and grateful and agree they deserve credit.

There's Good & Bad. The good is very much praise worthy. The bad, lets be patient and see it through.
But its the whiners & complainers that make things worse by sheer noise (infantile logic).

Yeah, there is undoubtabley a lull at the moment, mainly caused by the big gap between 3.0 and 3.1, I imagine when we get to 3.2 and 3.3 it'll start feeling a lot better. I hope Yoshi and the team learned the mistakes they made with the launch of Heavensward, and make the launch of 4.0 a little better.

From a gameplay perspective, sure. However, FFXIV went from nearly bankrupting Square Enix to single-handily pulling their stocks above of the red line. It currently is funding both FFXV and FFVII Remake, though by how much is debatable. No one game has ever accomplished such a feat. While you can certainly criticise the game's overall lack of creativity - even though I would personally disagree - you cannot take away what Yoshi achieved. Different does not always equate to good. In fact, many developers fall victim to desperately trying to avoid cliches, they instead go the opposite extreme. To cite a non-SE example, BioWare's mishap with Mass Effect 3 caused one of the biggest backlashes in gaming history, all because they insisted on a "unique" ending when they fanbase wanted something simple.

Well when threads talking about things that are brought in wrong get interrupted by people "complaining about the complainers" and the ever vague "they should work on content" it seems only fair. Sorry we aren't all in lockstep all the time with the latest mmo limitations.

They communicate on small QoL issues usually. It took them over half a year to reply to my 150 page thread on RMTs and what needs to be done. They'll reply when they have a favorable answer they can give, if not, they are very hesitant to do so.

You must not have tried to get a house. My FC had to camp on Christmas in the hopes of getting a house the moment it was demolished. This neighborhood thing has denied many FCs from even DOING content, since some of this content needs a house to even be able to attempt. This is NOT good house design. It's horrible.

You don't need to let it get you down. If you sift through all the negativity and take it neutrally, there are some good suggestions on the forum. The key is to not get hurt if someone types up an exaggerated response that opposes your view. FFXIV has its strengths and weaknesses, every MMO always will. People comment on the weaknesses because they still care about the game and its future. They don't want to see it go down in flames.

Gonna have to stop you right here. The reason why people were pissed about ME3 ending was because everything that was done up to the very end of the trilogy made no difference. Your choices. Everything Shephard stood for. It mattered not. The ending was "Pick a Color". Done. There's nothing unique about that at all. Even if they made it "Unique" that wouldn't matter to a fanbase as long as their choices actually mattered. Here it did not. That was the backlash. No one likes "Shut up and Color" logic. Which by the way, we're doing for XIV.

And ME3 ' s ending just had a ton of bad writing. Any plot writing in the series was garbage after the first one.

Personally I didn't like any of the endings. The end of the Mass Effect trilogy felt like a huge letdown to me. Totally put me off Bioware.

Not sure how FF14 is 'pick a color' though. FF14 never sold itself on having choice in its story or having much variation in the narrative. In many ways its both a totally different game and a different narrative style. Games and stories both don't have to have multiple paths based on choice to be good.

Core issues FF14 seems to have is primarily content ones with some people chaffing for more variety in the Job system. It would probably be less of an issue if Alex Savage and Diadem didn't flop and if 3.1 hadn't come so late. All are perfectly valid concerns. However I think its worth pointing out there is ample quantities of critical criticism of the game at the moment. Positive feedback on what they are doing right however tends to be in short supply and frankly is as important.

There are scores of threads telling SE what they are doing wrong. There are many suggestions by people, sometimes conflicting suggestions, on how people think SE should fix any particular issue. There are rather few threads actually commenting on what players are happy with and like in the game. There must be something otherwise why would you be playing at all?

For a change, tell SE what they have done right.

Just going to throw this out there since most of this thread seems to be unduly negative, but I fully support the XIV team, and Yoshi P in particular, because they're working hard to provide a game that everyone can enjoy to some extent. They're also actively listening to suggestions from the fan base which is a big thing in my opinion, since many game companies tend to go with the "who cares what we make, it'll sell" approach and do little to patch content seen as broken by the community. While they may not implement every little suggestion made here on the forums, (and with good reason given that the community on here only represents a very small portion of the playerbase), they DO take suggestions. Anyone who's spent much time on this forum should know this, yet they act like our opinions go completely unheard. We got a buff to WM and GB fairly quickly after 3.0 came out, we got the "same role LB restrictions" pulled almost immediately due to backlash with them rethinking and reworking it, we get minor QoL updates all the time based on forum suggestions, and we got the Hauchefaunt minion and shield because of players requesting it, just to name a few things. I greatly applaud them for working hard to try and satisfy every facet of the community to some extent, while still trying to move forward with their own designs for the classes and content. Yes, there are still a great many things that could be improved, and there are plenty of things that players would like to see added, but the simple fact of the matter is that we can't get everything we want, and they're doing what they can with what limited resources they have. Some players here on the forums in particular seem to only look at what they feel needs improving, and not at what has already been improved.....

To Yoshi P, and the team in general. Thank you. Sincerely. This is easily the best MMO I have ever played, and I intend to be a supporter for a long time to come.

Yeah just dismiss my opinion by throwing implied insults at me rather than arguing logically against my comments. While your at it call me a 'White Knight' as a way to try and ignore my arguments rather than actually putting forward counter arguments and opinions.

I think there is plenty wrong with the game which I admit readily. There is much I want to see change or grow. However I am enjoying myself and I am not arguing that others criticism are unfounded. All player opinions are valid.

I'm merely pointing out that in a thread created for positive feedback, simply filling it with piles of negative feedback and complaining is not only completely unconstructive but undermining of a feedback process that requires both positive (what they are doing right) AND negative (what they are doing wrong) feedback.

SE gets heaps of the later from us and precious little of the former.

If you have only negative feedback and can find nothing you enjoy about the game why the hell are you playing it at all, let alone posting on the game's forums?

Well, not sure about the rest, but personally? I've already unsubbed, I just foolishly was on a 3-month sub so I've got time left, which I will certainly not spend on FFXIV. What I, and probably many other long-time players are doing is the wait-and-see approach. We've unsubbed, but we're keeping an eye on the situation. If they keep heading down the path they're going, and just continue to do the exact same thing with a new coat of paint every patch....then no, I honestly can't see myself (or the others) coming back. Which is a shame, seeing as how I truly want to like the game, but I cannot abide by SE's current view of the game and their dirty tactics atm (3.15 comes to mind, thanks for the blatant lies SE, appreciated that)

Fair enough. However there was clearly things you did love about the game otherwise you wouldn't care enough to keep track of the state of the game. My point is that we are giving them plenty of info on what we don't like. However people tend to be very vague about what it was they do or even did like about the game which made them care enough about it to bother with it.

Again, positive feedback is as important as negative.

In OP's defense, the only MMO I actually played that was comparable to FFXIV was pre-F2P DCUO. Every other MMO I have played has been mediocre.

But as for this whole thread? Can't we just rely on constructive criticisms and accurate praise both? I mean, I'm not saying the OP is 100% right, but this game is pretty good. Sure, blind praise for things that are imperfect isn't great, but whining about how things aren't flawless isn't helping much either.

I actually have mostly praise for Yoshi-P and his team. I'm fairly certain most of the things that the majority find disagreeable are due to a lack of re-investment into the game from the people over him. You can't support a burgeoning game on a shoestring budget. Yell at the suits.

Well in this case, its a case of opinions. To the OP those statements are true. You might disagree with them but that doesn't make his opinion not valid. Even those who have issue with FF14 will often disagree on what is wrong exactly and how it should be fixed.

This doesn't mean the game doesn't have core issues. The ones that stick out to me is the content drought that before 3.1. HW release content really wasn't designed to keep people occupied that long. Another was that Alexander Savage fell flat as well as Diadem. If Diadem had worked then people would probably be feeling the current sense of lack of content as keenly. There is a difference though between 'this is broken' and 'I don't like this'. My family love Mangos but I hate them. They all think Im crazy for it but that doesn't make it any less right.

Here is the thing though. A lot of people who criticizes the current game talk about ARR favourably. With a few exception those things the OP listed were the same in ARR as they are now. In fact the Housing could be argued to have been worse. Alex normal has made 'raiding' more accessible to players who don't group in statics. What when people talk about what has changed though they tend to talk in rather vague ways, mainly referencing how Coils was better and how there was more to do. Realistically though the difference in the amount released is a handful of trials.

Again, I ask what is it that you actually like about the game? What is it that makes or made you want to play in the first place. What about it do or did you love?

I disagree. All of the statements you quoted are in fact true. There are varying opinions about the quality of them, of course, but there are varying opinions. Let's discuss instead of just claiming that there are no merits to what was said. You seem to be implying that everything that was stated was completely false for one reason or another and that there are no merits of truth to the OP's comments.....

No one can deny that this game releases new content every few months in some way or form. While you may not personally be happy with the content released, many players are in fact happy with it. This is part of why we see a resurgence of players every time a new patch comes out. The length that resurgence varies based on the size of the patch and the variety of the content, but it's always met with a flood of players, both those who've been playing consistently, and those who have taken breaks since the previous patch.....

Another true statement. Not in regards to the current raids of course, since that would anger the hardcore raiding fanbase, but in regards to old content. With the introduction of unsynced runs, more players than ever before are able to access the Coils and expect clears. This is very important from a story perspective because the Coils house the true finally from the 1.xx cycle. The only argument I can see here that you might have against it is that it somehow takes away from the skill other players showed in the past when they cleared it at level. Those players however can still claim those bragging rights if they so choose, just as many players brag that they've cleared other content before it was nerfed. The argument that some sort of physical bragging rights reward in the form of gear for a vast minority of the playerbase, (because let's face it, by comparison very few players ever raid), is more important than allowing more players to experience a crucial part of Eorzea's story, is frankly a very weak argument.....

I'll be honest, the customization in this game isn't the best I've seen by any means. I suspect though that the OP is speaking in part in regards to the fact that races have drastically different body builds from one another, as well as different facial expressions and designs. I also know many players who have bought multiple fantasias to change their character's race or gender, so clearly there is a customization draw there. Though to strengthen the argument on customization, I have to say that the glamour system in this game, (aside from class restrictions), is by far the best such system I've seen in any game I've played in recent years. The sheer amount of appearance options you get in regards to it are staggering. I have to admit that I'm quite disappointed when playing other games now because they tend to possess so few character customization options in this regard, with you simply being stuck looking like whatever the best gear is at the time. There's a reason that players commonly claim that "Glamour is the true endgame".....

A simple, very true statement. We have content added to the game constantly or changed constantly because of player feedback. One of the more notable facets of this is the Hauchefaunt minion, shield, and painting items that are available in game now. I was here on the forums when the thread requesting such items was made, and replied to by a forum moderator who then passed the ideas on to the team, where they were then created to be added to the game. We get numerous QoL updates to the game based on feedback. Content such as the Diadem are being reworked because the playerbase disliked the way it was implemented. Just about the only things that don't get influenced by feedback here on the forums are things that they simply can't do anything about due to budget/time constraints, or things that would drastically alter an aspect of the game world, when just as many players are happy with it the way it is, as there are players complaining. By comparison, most game companies simply get your money or subscription fees and tell you to simply live with whatever you get content wise. Yoshi P makes every reasonable effort available to avert this, while still making sure that the vocal minority don't completely control the game and ruin it for the players who like aspects of it as they are. And let's be honest here, the people complaining on the forums are the minority. When I speak to my friends and FC members in game about something on the forums, about 90% of them weren't even aware there were forums before I mentioned it, and out of those that were aware, very few have even browsed them, much less made a post to voice their opinion. People in general simply don't come to a forum to talk about how good things are or how much they love content, they come to complain about something that they feel is broken or about bad players they came across. Why should they come here to talk about how much they love it? They're already happy with what they have, so why should they expect future content to be any different in that regard, or want to change the existing content that they already enjoy?

The fact that there is a shortage of available housing doesn't undermind this statement. It enforces it. There's only a shortage of housing because everyone wants a personal house that they can decorate and customize. If they didn't feel like the housing itself was extremely well done, there would be no reason to spend millions of gil on it. Clearly the fact that with hundreds of houses per server, each costing millions of gil, are all sold speaks as to how valuable the community sees this system. There's a reason that people are willing to spend millions more gil on certain furniture pieces. It's not simply "chocobo stables" or "farming" that make people want personal houses. It's because the system is well crafted with quite a few customization options that allow you to make it not just a personal house, but your personal home......

From the way I see it, you're completely focusing on the bad to the point that you don't consider there to be any good on all these points. It's true there's problems with the game. It's true that things aren't implemented perfectly. If you can find a single game out there where everything IS implemented perfectly and everything works in a way that makes every single player happy, well, why are you here instead of playing that? The bottom line is that no game is perfect. There will always be something that someone considers to be an issue. The main problem here is that as I stated earlier, the majority of the people to post here on the forums are the ones who had something they didn't like and wanted to complain about. That in turn means that they see other threads created by people with the same goals of complaining, and thus find more negativity. Again though, the people complaining here on the forums are in the minority of the playerbase, which is something a lot of them don't seem to realize. A perfect example of this is the relic weapons that came out recently. For a solid month you couldn't find anything here on the forums but threads complaining about them, and there's even still a couple that stay on the front page. Meanwhile, in the game itself, you see that FATEs across all the HW areas are suddenly a viable method of leveling, when before you would get lucky to find even one other person in the area willing to help out. You find that dungeon ques for any relic relate dungeons, (including the first four HW dungeons), are nearly instant regardless of role. Alexander Normal as well is suddenly an option to actually run for players new to the content, and for those simply doing it for the Relic, whereas even in the first month or so of it's release you'd be lucky to have less than a 30min que for any of the Alex Normal runs outside of prime time. Beyond all that, players now have an incentive to go back and revisit old beast tribe quests as well as the new ones, simply to get the relic material from them. And do you know why this is? Because while there were people here on the forums complaining about how broken the relics were or how annoying the grind was, the majority of the playerbase was in the game happily working on them with friends, FC members, and even strangers who would become new friends. Clearly, this game is doing something right, even if you refuse to see anything but the negative.....
