Tanaka said no to the JP when they request it it been a part of Final fantasy xi to have all the language together. I think it's a bad idea cut down the players base to there own servers i would lose a lot of friends from EU,JP,DU and many part of the world.
SO i agree no thanks.
I like to see the servers filled with life 24/7, so no thanks to separation.
If both are offered, the global servers will end up having a much better community imo. Since only those who like that sort of thing end up going there, while those who are disgusted by the idea of having to interact with someone outside their own comfort zone don't have to do that.
I think everyone should share a server, and continue to use the translator function. there Isnt much a group of people who meet up to grind a dungeon need to talk about. Besides I think it takes away from a game if you limit your self based on language. alot of work went intot he global translator and it works pretty well in my opinion

The opening of new servers
The opening of new language-specific servers (our current plan is to have both language-specific and global servers in operation)
Server Transfer services (temporary restrictions over new servers)
Well, adding language specific servers would just just another fail decision regarding the game. All region/language-based MMOs already reflected that when you do this you end having a "useful" period on that server (peak period) and anyone that plays out of that period ends in a major disvantage...and, if someone that wants to play with japanese-speaking people is forced to move from japanese-speaking server due the lack of player online during the period he plays, then the language-speciific server loses its purpose.
I support the global servers concept! IMO it's good for the server health, to keep population at a decent amount the entire day and even for cultural interaction! I myself am a person that very often play overnight/morning, staying at JP and EU periods most of the time even though the "correct" server for me would be the NA/english one.
I'm glad everyone here wants global but go ask the Japanese what they want. My understanding is that a lot of them don't want to play with anyone but Japanese speakers.
By years of playing with JP players i can saay that only a minority of them would rather playing strictly with JP-speaking players...just like EN, FR and GE-speaking players would too. I think it's all a matter of respect...like using the auto-translate if you don't speak the party language and, if you do, speak in the language the party does.
I very often saw, as example, NA players cursing JP ones because they were speaking JP in PT, as if no JP speak english...just ike i've seen the oposite too...but, again, this is the minority. IMO adding language-specificservers goes against all the globalization path most MMOs are following...IMO it's just the first step for some regional segregation...soon enough you will start having certain languages' servers receiving content before others and soon enough you will have a development scalling regarding servers...just like we see in most region-beased MMOs...because the development is done in a certain language so, obviously, the content for that language will be ready before all others.
I would not want different servers. I like playing with JP players. gives me a chance to use my Japanese speaking skills..what little I have.
How will i improve my languages if we'r seperate -_-'
I welcome "language-recommended" servers and server transfers are a must. Using the translate tool should be the exception, not the rule.
I don't mind if the language specific servers are optional, but hopefully not a lot of other players from other countries jump ship. Mrfox is definitely right! I'm learning French and Japanese at the moment, so I won't be able to practice at all if they all go to other servers!
the fact is that people .. particulary in europe are complaining about the respond time it takes in the game.. for example.. when people are fighting ifrit they cant get to evade it's attack .. in their screen they're far away but into other people screen they are right in the attack zone... so they get damage. having region/language based server would fix that.. and that in fact seems to be the only way. even us gets a delay.. i notice it everyday .. its even worst over my friend. .... i do like it international ... but if i can get rid of that delay then ill go with region/language based server.
duh yeah i should have specified that .. i meant physcally moving server to the different regions of the world ;) but thanks for correcting me Xd
This is a subject that doesn't even need to be mentioned. Either regional or global servers, your reason for a curtain one shouldn't be based on player but rather on connection and accessibility. If I was surrounded by nothing but German or French or Japanese players but I don't have lag with super great connection then I'd still be happy.
Better than being flamed by a fellow english speaker for crappy connection- they can go play with their friends with their language.
IMO, connectivity over culture.
there is one good thing i have heard that may come from this. we have been told we can't have in game team speak because of language conflicts, if one language servers would change this, some ppl might support the idea
personally i like us all on the same server. but i don't like the lag or being d/c'ed all the time, so i'll wait and see what the new server is like before i judge
I'm guessing most of the people agreeing to this are NA and the majority of players play in their timezone. I for one would like EU/JP/NA servers, I like playing with other nationalities but when you are in the minority the drawbacks outweigh the rewards. People say JPs are the only ones who would like this but a lot of EUs I have spoken would also like this. It seems to be mainly NA (already the majority) who want global.
pvp servers please ty.
Seriously why would we want a separation servers? 100% JP will go to JP servers based on thier timezone, no language barrier, etc etc and the pro list goes on. i for one would like a EU server because its near my timezone.
i seriously cant understand the *Logic* of "why it is a bad thing"?
The problem with this is likely cost and the fact that there will be some servers rammed beyond belief, and some where you have like 5 people (exaggeration but you know what I mean).
SE are trying to encourage people mixing from around the world, and the idea of having various players coming on at different times of the day is nice and generally works (and the servers are therefore continually in use - which is what SE probably wants).
Bringing in regional segregation just because some groups are too narrow-minded/arrogant/inflexible to share the same space with other groups that are different to them (for whatever reason) is a poor idea in my view.
I'm not denying that some servers probably currently have low populations for some languages which can make things difficult. SE could try fixing this by allowing limited world transfers...but I can see even this being open to abuse.
People blame the JP contingent a lot, but there are plenty of EU and NA players who keep asking for local servers so they don't have to attempt to communicate/player with people "different" to them.
SE could help matters by improving the in-game auto-translate a lot more so you can actually have appropriate conversations with people.
I think there should be one server per continent to minimize the lag. Ofcourse i dont want them to ip block them.
Do not go down that road SE. Separation of the community is a big mistake. Why do you not learn from your successful MMMO, 10 years and still going strong.
Don't try to be different just to please a few people. In the end those servers will increase cost and will be underpopulated.
No one will be online outside of prime times. It's a completely stupid idea and defeats the community aspect of a MMO.
Sincerely,
Skyrant of the Kangaroomice
whats most funny of your posts are all based on jumping on bandwagons. it makes me want to laugh about the people who says *segregation is bad thing* without giving explanation of WHY its a bad idea in the first place. are you forcing japanese to not have thier own servers? even the majority of JP wanted to have thier own servers. i fully support on what SE is doing and iam 100% supporting thier idea. because then again they are not forcing us, they are giving us a choice by going global servers. so stop your whining and move on.
