through alts and now reselling them for 20m+ through PF. Shouldn't there be some rule one house per account or something? It's obviously this feature is abused, exploited and not working as intended.

"Housing Mafia".
Amazing, simply amazing. Best day ever in this forum xDDDD
To be fair i dont understand why we shouldn't be able to buy houses with our alts.
I would understand if we were able to share our houses with our alts from the same account, but thing is... We cant.
If you don't like it, don't partake of it. Now that there's automatic reclamation, and more wards coming in 3.3, if people just calm their tits and wait, the player housing market should see a decrease in value making it less appealing to do this.
On the other hand, if people keep on buying despite the fact that there's other ways to get the homes with a little patience, welp.
At this point, complaining about house resellers is akin to complaining about people over charging for king cakes. Is it a dick move? Yup. Will it sort itself out in time assuming the player base acts in a half way intelligent manner? Yup.
Jealousy isn't the same as demanding they get punished for using the system as it's been currently implemented.
Are they reportable? If yes do so.
Neither are Marriage rings on the cash shop, but hell they sold nicely back in the day.
You are missing the point completely, and its anything but greed, call it roleplaying. I roleplay an skilled merchant who sees and capitalizes on the oportunities he sees inside the bounderies of the law, i play following the rules and i belive in a good handshake to seal deals.
And well, you are right about something, gil holds not much value at all, i belive that most rich players would agree with me that gil is more of a score than a resource, you really just want to see it go higher and higher for the sake of it, not for a particular, productive reason.
My personal goal is the first 999,999,999 retainer for next year. If selling houses to the people who wants one gets me closer to that, well, thats what ill be doing. A reality check: https://www.reddit.com/r/FFXIVhousingMarket
Oh so people finding a new way of making money are being greedy? I call them smart. Crafters overpricing their sh*t when most of the time it cost them nothing is what being greedy is.
People actually having to pay millions for the plot in the first place and then hoping they will get a buyer, aren't .
I think 1 house restricted to 1 character per server is fair. Why would you need a personal house on all your alts on the same server? Surely one is enough. I don't think housing is meant to be traded around - it's just an unfortunate loophole in the system (one that, admittedly, should've been obvious) that has created a weird market. This is why instance housing would've worked so much better. :V
Thats pretty clever
I have my own house but I do believe there should be a limit on account or per server but also making so alts can visit or be given housing right on the property. Have to admit this is something those with tons of gil were waiting for to buy up and flip for more profit. Hopefully with luck the expansions on housing will allow people to get their homes in the future
I'm sure its called a lot of things but its still greedy. Your basically making harder for others to obtain items by artificially making a shortage worse and then creating a situation where anyone who wants the property you have cant buy it from you but has to pay you just to leave so they can buy it normally. Your not even selling them the property.
It might be smart, it might be good planning. It might be Roleplaying. Its still greedy.
Sadly, they could make 50,000 wards and still not have enough houses due to people buying up multiples.
Rule is one house per character, can't mail anything to people not on your friendlist (alts), and can't sell/trade lots. People always fined loop holes. Best thing to do is not buy from the "mafia" and leave them stuck with an empty lot.
Stay frosty, more lots will open up as the days go on. I know a few people who logged in for 3.1 then re-quit after a week.
Ooooooorrr move you and your FC to a less populated server where housing is plentiful and cheap.
The #1 rule of real estate has always been location, location, location. That's why the same house in Georgia costs $100,000 while it'll set you back a million dollars in Fremont, CA.
SE really needs to offer people free transfers off Balmung and Gilgamesh at this point.
We could blame the players that buy more houses on one account, but is it realy their fault? SE added this feature in a way that allows players to buy more then one house. I agree that everyone should get the chance to get a house, but SE disagrees.
Do not dislike the players for buying multiple houses, aim your worries towards Yoshi-P and the other developers.
If this is going to be an issue every time new houses pop up, they should just make it so that if you buy a house you cant relinquish it for 45 or make it so the only way to get rid of it is through demolishing it after 45 days (or through transfer of leadership if its an FC house.) Buying a house shouldn't be some willy-nilly purchase a player makes lightly.
Better yet, just make Mog Rooms so everyone can have a place to call home and fill it with their own stuff and not through FC's where they can be potentially be locked from their rooms by poor FC-master leadership.
The new plots that are going to be released in Ishigard will also be bought by rich players with their alts, that is the nature of the game. Housing is a feature that is damaged in the core. I do not blame players for buying alot of houses, there are benefits to owning more then one house and if I had the gil, I would also have done the same as them. SE f*cked up with the way they added housing in this game and personaly I am suprised how this idea even left the drawing table. Surely even SE would have thought that this would prevent players from buying a house?
Anyway, I can not wait till 3.2/3.3 gets released so we can see more threads where 1 player used alts to buy even more houses in Ishigard.
I called this a whole ago. The whole reclamation thing is a drop in the bucket. The demand is ridiculous and the supply is scarce, it instantly becomes an opportunists market. The housing market promotes this behavior without any player restrictions and by having no mechanisms to discourage flipping (cooldown timers between relinquishment and market listing.).
The relinquishment should have been handled separately from the market listing as opposed to the houses directly dropping into the market.
In my opinion they should have waited until the ward expansion and ishgard implementation to help ease the demand from that area upon release. But what's done is done now.
I had a house before this but I just think the way they are handling it that it's really turning the player base against each other and it's evident across the forums, reddit, and even Facebook. This whole thing wasn't very well planned but I guess realistically the entire housing debacle wasn't very well planned to begin with so it's to be expected. There are many ways to fix the issue and I guess we will just have to see how it goes from here.
As far as the moral argument, someone who knowingly exploits a faulty system is most definitely susceptible to the karma of such a decision.
Personally it's hard for me to distinguish between those who would create a problem and those who would perpetuate it knowingly. But at the moment I feel the focus should be put towards square to implement restrictions towards housing per account. At most, no one should be able to own more than an FC house and personal house. Other than that specific situation it should only be one each IMO.
Reminds me of this:

Just bought mine for 3.4 mil. Just because.
3.4m is cheap as hell.
