Probably one of the Warring Triad. One of them is called Sephirot.
Sephirot, https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sephirot
Sephirot != Sephiroth.
Sephirot. It'll be the FFXIV name for Fiend.
Soken-san needs to rearrange this.

ooohhh, i see i was sure it was a direct link to ff 7 xD

Another name for this in the Warring Triad was セフィロス/Sephiroth
Sephirot is one of the Warring Triad. The Fiend I think. Side note the temple in Azys Lla was built by a plantlike beastman tribe that worshiped Sephirot.
Just to clear the air a bit more, Fiend is given the name Sefilos (translates to English as "Sephiroth") in concept art of the Warring Triad for Final Fantasy VI. Goddess will likely be Sophia and Demon will be Zurvan, likely to just give them less generic names.
Well, if you're going to be anal, Sefir(l)osu is the Romaji of Sephirot, which is a religious concept over 2000 years old. It's Japanese using a more limited language system to try to emulate the Roman alphabet, so it's more the Japanese trying to translate a western word rather than western words trying to translate a Japanese word or phrase.
copying from my other thread about this:
turns out the cathedral is meracydian really (oficial data from 3.1 sightseeing log)
this is the text as it follows from there :
"A cathedral designed in a distinct Meracydian stle. The architecture suggests a place of worship by a tribe of treelike beings who believed themselfs ''remnants" of Sephirot. To research the link between faith and primal summoning, the Allagans moved the ancient structure to azys lla from its original location on the southern continent"
taking in mind that the warring triad is now convered in trees and ''worn out''
this treelike beast tribe is defenetly related to it. Allagans probably put the cathedral there to make the ''remnants'' summon the primal of the eikon they were holding already, rpobably to study the diffrences between both (maybe thats how they proved the primals are ''false gods'' but thats just me speculating.
Thank god it isn't Sephiroth from FFVII though
I almost had a heart attack, there.
It would've been a sad moment in FFXIV life if they decided to actually added Sephiroth so they can gather some FF7 fans to the game, who then will do that fight 24/7 for 3 yeears.
well they added cloud's bike so ...
They didn't. The screenshots shown were a prototype build of the bike, but the dev team realized it'd probably look stupid if a motorcycle was traveling at the same speed as a chocobo or behemoth mount. So they scrapped it. They just showed it as a Christmas gift to the artist/person who wanted it in.
Various enemies have multiple names. Lahabrea's related name from Ivalice is Mateus, which is also the alternate name of the Emperor from FF2. If Lahabrea comes back somehow from the current story craziness, I hope he ends up in that alternate form, maybe with his sigil flipped upside down.
It's an allusion to FFVI, not FFVII. People have already discussed the naming/translation so I won't get into that.
I just wanted to say that, as big as a fangirl of the series as I am, I try not to get myself too worked up about allusions to prior titles. For example: Crystal Tower SCREAMED FFIII, but it really was only a glorified series of references and callbacks. The games' core content/lore aren't connected in any way, and the Devs for FFXIV keep reiterating this. They like to reference the franchise, but each game's canon stays disparate. I expect the same from the Warring Triad trial - not to say that I won't really enjoy it anyway.
And Containment (Extreme) Bait-and-Switch: It's actually Kefka. Comeplete with the Black Mages version of Dancing Mad for the soundtrack. Please look forward to it. (jk, lol)
How would you feel if this "Sephirot the Fiend" primal was filled with allusions to both the Fiend statue and the guy from FF7? Including musically.
