Yep. Once again, more neat furniture for everyone who doesn't have a house to display them.
I'm more concerned by how barebones the whole quest was and rewards ill never use.
I'm more concerned that wallpaper doesn't make a yearly reappearance. It gets destroyed when you remove it, and it doesn't stack. So either I was supposed to fill my FC bank with 5-10 years of seasonal wallpaper, or literally carry the Christmas spirit with me all year round.
Hey SE, gimme wallpaper!
While it was a decent quest I do have 1 concern..
What about the orphans and downtrodden in the Bume in Ishguard?
Don't they deserve some starlight cheer?
(And yes I know it is because not everyone has bought the expansion and they don't want anybody locked out. But Still..)
Compared to this years Halloween Event, this was a huge let down. :(
yeah...is bring travel to uldah some crafted thing , travel to gridania....back to limsa and be done with it.....
Furniture is not on the MogStation. I know this is a touchy subject that not everyone owns property but when they get their house they will not be able to get old furnishings unless if they buy now and use inventory space or wait and pay way too much. I would like furnishings put on the Calamity Salvager.
I wonder what people are complaining about with the housing. You are not in an FC? Why not? You can buy a private room for 300k, why are you playing a MMO and not socialising?
The quest was cute. Like how it involved the DoH guildmasters and the fact that bells played the Final Fantasy main theme.
I liked it, not too bothered about the rewards, they're nice enough. I mean Halloween already gave us a mount, minion and costume, so I can understand why there isnt a wealth of items for Starlight, maybe next year Starlight will get all the rewards :p not to mention, Heavensturn is in a week or so too lol
I was hoping for the outdoor trees as well but I'm happy with just this year's furniture. The ornaments and tree look really great especially at 0-1 lighting.
I love the housing items, it's about time we got an indoor tree! I'm pretty bummed there was no way to obtain last year's items though. They were really difficult to get and the wallpaper especially was something consumable. I'm really sad I won't have it again for next year, or have any presents under the tree because we were unable to muster enough points last year to buy some.
I actually think they should have ARR events, AND HW events too (new ones) that you need the expansion for and they revolve around Ishgard.
So everyone would still get access to Moonfire, Rising, Halloween, Xmas and so on...
But new ones on top of that too, especially when we have a lull in content.
Housing has been sold out on pretty much all servers for a while now. It is shared between single players and fc's, and the fcs have to be at a certain rank to be eligible for housing to begin with. There are far more existing FCs in this game than there are houses even without single player housing, so unfortunately being in an FC does not equal having access to housing.
Not all FCs have a house. I am in a FC that does not have a house and I do not have my own house.
There's no need to skip it. You still get an achievement and the seasonal gear can be resold - in time - for a profit on the marketboard. With that said, however, the seasonal event rewards don't interest me much either. I'm not inclined to dress my character up as Santa and I lack a house due to how inaccessible they are.
I did feel that the quest was a little underwhelming, but I am happy to get a Christmas Tree for my FC house. ^_^
Just another seasonal quest (not actually an "event" mmo style) ppl can do in a few minutes. SE lack of creativity amaze me lately. SE need to hire fresh devs fast!
Recycling formula for relic
Recycling formula every patch
Recycling formula every "event"
Recycling mechanics for bosses and primals
Recycling PVP "progression"
Is just sad now
I've only been playing about five months now, and I have to say some of the festivals are kind of a middle finger from SE to newer players. We're unable to get items in the game that older players could get in the past. Like cosmetics and minions. And for the Starlight Festival, we can't even get the crafting ingredient items anymore. I'm not even sure why they still have the recipes in the crafting log if we can't get the items to make them. Unless I am missing something. And please don't say "You can get the outfits on the marketboard." I know you can, but they are priced WAY too high. Or at least more than I am willing to pay for a cosmetic item. And the previous housing items are even worse. I don't see why SE had to take the items out of the game and force new players to get them in the store. I get they need to make money, but can't they do it without ruining festivals?
Though you cannot get the minion unless you purchase it from the mogstation and you cannot get the furnishings unless you pay a premium on the Auction House...
Older players can purchase some of the older gear and sell/give it to you, too. A lot of servers have people that buy the items and give them out or sell very cheaply on the AH.
The event hasn't been going on long- give those people who like to help out the community a chance to get and give them away or list them. (Or find an older player and ask them to buy for you for cheap)
Side note: SE said they weren't going to do the bells back in 1.0 after every event was ONLY bells. Soon as I saw them in the event graphics... Yeeeeeah. Foreshadowing there.
Older players who have done an earlier quest will have the achievement for that quest which, at least for the quest reward items, will allow them to buy those items off the calamity salvager. The items that are buyable from an event npc (which is basically the housing items) wouldn't be a part of that quest though so they would only be available on the market board as long as they're sellable.
That is cool my girlfriend wanted a tree for indoor… I need to tell her.
That is sad SE has not fixed this issue yet…
What is it more fates and more being a delivery boy?
I played FFXI for like 7 years and even though events were the same from year to year every event was unique from other events.
Egg hunt was fun for Easter etc.
It's a cute event, but it's really short and underwhelming compared to last year's.
This time, you can buy the event items for gil instead of event-only "tokens" you can get from the event's daily quests. Though the objective is simple, it gave people something to do that lasted the whole event rather than a quick 5-10 minutes like this one was.
I wish they make the events more engaging in the future.
I mostly might not even do it cause nothing about it interest me now maybe if they added that the girl is wearing in the background I'd be all over it but maybe next year.
To be fair, some people are in a FC that doesn't have a house at all, or are concerned that a social snafu could cause material retaliation regarding private rooms.
((Disclaimer: I'm willing to wait indefinitely for my own personal house, so this is just a head's-up type post, less of an argument. I'm not invested enough for that.))
XD When you have eleven characters to do events with, you are thankful for short quests.
The new years stuff was miserable and I only did it with three of my girls.
I like these items, a little something for everyone. Not as much as Halloween, but honestly I always expect this event to be smaller. I'm happy~
As much as i loves the lil srory and loves seeing all the guild masters in starlight attier and godbiert in his pantless sata suit... WHO EVER SAVED THE DATA ON THOSE 1.0 BELLS NEEDS TO GET FIRED!!!!!!
LIKE AHHHHHHHHHHH WHY THE DAM 1.0 BELLS -_-;
for 2.0 only people pre yoshida 1.0 you had events where you rung a bell an npc would appear give you craftingmats and you get a crafter to craft ur holiday reward.... -_-;; THAT WAS IT no quest or anything.
hell 1.0 didn't have quests till 1.19 when yoshida took over -_-;;
I'm disappointed that Ishgard has no decoration for a holiday that's Ishgardian in origin.
I know the reason is because the three main cities are accessible to all (also the reason all events only take place there) but that's lazy. They could at the very least decorate Ishgard.
