If you don't want to destroy it, Grind it yourself. @.@
Also, your Zeta is worth all the advantage it gave you in ARR~Early 3.0. If you started after 3.0's Launch that might be an entirely seperate issue. Also, the Glamour. : D
You dont have to destroy it, but trust me after seeing my FC mates spend hours atma grinding. I am glad i traded in my Zeta.
Gives me no incentive to start this new relic quest line. I see it is quite the grind, maybe this one will be worth 20 atma!
Skipping this step is huge, though. I couldn't throw my ugly Sasuke's Blades at the woman in Mor Dhona fast enough. I think she almost lost an ear.
even worse, the reward for the atma is an eso weapon, meaning your zeta isn't even worth 1,000 estoric tomestones.
It's not the Eso weapon, the name is just similar. Antiquated (Eso) vs Animated (Relic.)
7hrs fating, I have 8/18 atmas, ya I really wish I finished my relic....
To be fair, your level 50 zeta can't even hold up to a level 60 dungeon-drop weapon.
I'm pretty sure you were supposed to make a zeta because you were interested in taking the relic quest to its end, not because you were expecting some super advantage in the next relic quest. Be glad they threw you a bone at all.
You don't have to do the Relic quest though, just like with the previous relic whenever the relic was updated along came weapons of similar power, no reason to worry about it cept for glamour.
Wow, the salt is real. I'm just thankful that the Zeta is even worth something. You grinded for your zeta because you wanted to. Having the weapon was its own reward. I am thankful as hell that I get to skip an entire step (and my least favorite at that). What did you honestly think that having a Zeta would get you, a free ilv 200 weapon?
@title yup
pls look forward to it
there's a prefect comic for this. But I just can't seem to find it hmmm
Should be grateful you got a boost at all, to be honest.
No, i shouldn't be 'grateful' i got a 'boost' that some people can complete in a day. My Zeta did not take me a day or 18 atma to complete.
This was the one item that had a good progression line.
Let me put things in perspective.
The Zeta when it first came out, to finish, took month(s). Upon expansion, it was useless, until now, its only value is to skip grinding 18 atma in the next phase of its progression, something that can be done in a day or two. Some people have already collected them all.
So let's say the next expansion comes out, your relic that you completed in 3.x is rendered useless for several months until they come out with a new progression for it. For all that you had done to complete your relic in 3.x, you are rewarded to bypass a step that takes only a couple of days.
I'm sorry but the math simply just doesn't add up. 860+ days subscriber here, and this is such a slap in the face.
I don't even mind the new grind. It's simply the devaluing of my Zeta that infuriates me.
I'm not exactly seeing what the issue is....FFXIV is NOT FFXI, I loved that game but FFXIV is an entirely different game. You don't get to keep gear that will be useful for 10+ years through all expansions while at level cap here. Your Zeta was already invalidated as soon as higher level gear was available. Once you got that job past the level that your Zeta was useful, it's already useless to equip as an actual weapon; it becomes glamour and nothing more. Your reward was having that weapon available at 50 for doing the content with a higher ilvl weapon, leveling and using it most of the way to 60, and as a glamour until the servers eventually shut down 50+ years from now (exaggeration I know). Being able to skip the first step of a entirely separate questline that makes a nod to the last for having the old weapon is enough bonus as it is. This is not the kind of game where the gear you got yesterday will forever be relevant, nor do I or many others want the game to be that way. I poured alot of time into my zodiac weapons as well but I see this for what it is....a BONUS and nothing more.
So having an ilvl135 weapon instantly becoming an ilvl170 is a slap in the face? a weapon that if you completed before Heavensward was good for at least HALF of the new content before it was made obsolete with new equipment? A weapon that before Heavensward was the best of the best with the customizable stats? Sure you spent more time on it than the 18 atma grind would force you to do, but it is seriously obsolete and out of date well before you even get to the new Anima weapon. It's been burning a hole in your inventory for a few months now, hasn't it?
You may feel entitled, but the rest of us are happy with even this bone they threw us. People refusing to be happy with what they're given is what's wrong with the world these days - the more people that get sour about things like this, the more sour the world becomes.
It also looks like your post is only worth 18 likes as well
I was a little surprised, too, this was all the Zodiac relic amounted to. However, what really surprised me was the writing. The process of creating the Anima relic is not unlike the process of creating the Zodiac relic. For instance, the Zodiac relic became a host of immense power (supposedly), and it also had tons of experience from battle. These steps, that have already been completed with the Zeta, are what you now want with the Anima. However, Gerolt makes a completely new weapon (knock-off Esoterics and on a whim) to bind the Anima with, and then you need battle experience, another thing the Zeta already has. I guess I'm more curious, from a lore-perspective, as to why the Zeta couldn't be the complete substitution for most of the process.I try not to pay attention to the ilevel this and ilevel that for comparison, but if you really want to put things into "perspective", your Zeta isn't even worth 990 esoterics or 18 atma; It's worth 570 Law. That's precisely how much an i170 costs. You're Zoadiac Zeta is complete garbage even if it's somewhat of a legend.
The atmas are the hardest part.... the drop rate is very low still.
Like trading away a game you used cherish.
You can have 2 crystals for it.
There's actually ONE use for a Zeta: that weapon isn't sync'ed in Lv50 content (with exception of some dungeons with the sync icon).
If somehow you want to do, I don't know, Lv50 Coil (Savage ?), bringing a Zeta would be better than having a sync'ed weapon.
I know, it's a very small thing, but min-maxers will probably keep their Zeta and do their crystals the "normal" way for that particular reason. I think that's enough of a reason for them.
In fact, that's one of the reasons why I finished my SMN Zeta not so long ago so I could keep my PLD Zeta for that very particular case.
I'm actually glad I didn't grind for the Zeta weapon. Pain in the ass books kind of discouraged me from going on.
If I were to trade a Zeta weapon, I'd feel like, "Oh, look, there's my new relic, I guess."
But because I'm grinding the 18 stones, it's going to feel so much sweeter when I get it. I'm about a fourth of the way there now, it's no prob. :)
Getting the 18 crystals take hardly a few hours. It doesn't compare AT ALL with the atma pre-nerf we did. You want to keep it ? just do it. You can get the crystals in a short time anyway
Yeah... I decided to keep my zeta rather than turn it in. Sure, I know I can get a replica to keep the appearance, but somehow it just feels wrong to hand it over. Especially to skip a relatively minor step (Halfway through grinding my crystals atm, so yes, I *am* aware of how long they can take to drop)
OP, you got proof that you got your zeta pre-nerf?
The "turn in zeta/skip fates" part does not seem like a reward for those that completed it, it seems more of a PUNISHMENT for those that did not! Haha. I was glad to turn mine in to skip that step.
Perspective, perspective, perspective, I guess. The FATEs in Azys Lla were a pain in the ass to attempt alone, but I just finished getting the three stones of fire. The stones really aren't that bad. Like I said before, the books discouraged me from carrying on in my first relic, so... I'll take Atma stuff over Books any day. Or, you know, anything that tells me to go chasing after specific FATEs. Hell no, I absolutely hate that. That's a waiting game I don't want to play, like, ever!
I wish you got to choose which step you could skip. Got to looking to see what you had to do to get the new purple weapon... I'd rather skip the 20/20/20/20/4/4/4/4 step than the grinding...
With all the huge nerfs to relic quest line, you could make a Zeta in probably the same time as an Anima atma grind. I made a zenith in like an hour, nexus and mahatma lights cap extremely quick from solo unsync Satasha Normal. Dungeojs are unsync'd and can be soloed, the fates spawn quicker now, and alex maps drop 5 alexandrites per map and cost almost no poetics to purchase. You could literally make a zenith in probably a day or two max.
*zeta in a day or two max, sorry posted from phone
At first I was really upset and was basically foaming at the mouth when I read the patch notes. Now that I've calmed down a bit I'm not that mad anymore. Sure they made an incredibly boring quest with 0 creativity and all.
I think its the timing and the fact that didn't we just make a sentient living weapon with the zodiac questline? I mean, that was kind of the point of the whole zodiac--> Zeta stage. Waking up the weapon and giving it Sentience. Isn't that exactly what we're doing with the new Anima weapons? Had they made it so we just ascended the soul of our relic into the new relic, perhaps, ascended the Mind of the zeta for us zeta owners instead of just having some lady in a dumb hat snap my zeta in two and hand me some generic ass crystals that she could of made with 18 atma. Had we instead gotten Gerolt and the new kid to transfer the soul of our weapon I probably wouldn't be as upset as I was/am.
(apparently I typed too much so I will make another post.)
Had this come in 3.1 we'd probably all be done or almost done with the 3rd step by now which I think would be acceptable. Had they made the grind in 6 stages instead of 3 it would be fine. Same grind, spread out over 6 stages with smaller rewards. Let us taste that carrot on the stick a bit more often and the grind isn't so bad. Maybe going from 170--> 180 with the 10 dungeons, then maybe gathering 25% of whats in step 3, then the weapon goes to 190. Step 4 is 25% more stuff from the current step 3, weapon goes to 195. Etc until Stage 6 Fully awakens the weapon to i210. Smaller steps with more rewards. Its still manipulating us into doing the exact same grind, but players can decide to take breaks and use their weapon at i190, i195 etc. Give us more options, instead of forcing this massive grind on us all at once.
