Welp...I am all for doin grind but...by the time people can finish this it will be outdated ilvl LOL wut? Or is SE finally changing that...is there something I missed o.O
so basically you have more than one way to get what you need?
Ummm.......... Will this be ilvl 240 at the end
Looks like this relic is gonna be anotherhopefully sometime before I die of old agelong term goal for glamor only again for anything other than hardcore grinders or people who have ALOT of playtime available. New ilvl released before I ever complete it probably.
If the weapon doesn't look better than Zeta, I'll probably end up ditching this all together. For now, just take it at my own pace when bored and nothing to do. SE sure likes to "keep its subscribers" if you know what I mean.
GG SE. Complete psychopaths.
I'm fine with everything involved EXCEPT the crafting part.
It's already bad enough that it requires HQ stuff, but those also being specialist-only (not to mention that said stuff can be crafted with OTHER specialist-only materials)?
That's going too far...
I'm laughing. People who thought relics would be an easy way to get a 210 weapon...lol.
You either grind it out (do everything at the same time to cut down on time needed. Not rocket science.) or get good and raid.
The part that infuriates me the most is the goddamn HQ crafted items again. So, this is just another means to net crafters even more gil, while making those of us who aren't specialist crafters suffer.
Well shit :/
Well it's i210, so on the upside... If you think about it. By the time you finish it, you would likely be able to buy the new tome weapon, which would likely be i210. Saving you nearly 1000 tomes.
Can honestly say though.
Compared to the first relic weapon quests, what I'm reading about this is honestly disappointing. I was really hoping for some feats of strength and not just insane grinding.
Screw that. I was already thinking about retiring when my sub is up the end of the month. Was just waiting to see what 3.15 brought.
Well, this seems to alleviate the concerns of people who worried that Thordan EX would be made irrelevant with the new relic weapons! Hahahahahahahahaha
Seriously though, that grind.................................
I've actually just had a friend who is thinking of quitting because of the relic. 2.0 all over again thanks SE.
Feels like a Korean grind to me. It's like the game Tera all over again. -gets energy drink, food, and installs a toilet in my room next to me- time to get at it. :/
U serious!?
So to clarify, one only needs to select one of those four options? Can one mix and match?
Sounds terrible. I will pass.
I made my forum account just to post a thread about the final step, but it seems like you got that covered.
So anyhow, I'm seriously dumbfounded as to why they couldn't implement this during 3.0's launch. Currently I have 9 jobs at 60, all of which have been geared with at least i190 Alexander normal stuff. What incentive is there for a player like me to go through with this grind again? Even through gearing 9 jobs(Closer to 6 since some share equipment)I felt that I've done enough Alex runs to last me a lifetime. I reckon that most people will share my sentiment on that last bit. The best part is that I'm doing the Machinist relic. Det/SkS LeL. -10/8 on the motivation scale. Would rather server transfer for Thordan's gun.
I'm halfway done with the dungeons. I don't think I'll be touching the last step as I'll settle for the i200 Ferdinand Awoken solely for glamour. The amount of ridiculous grinding in this game trumps that of F2P games for nearly no reward. Imagine my disappointment as I had just resubbed too. I really don't intend to pay a monthly fee for recycled content. Bad ones at that too. If there's no housing plots made available on my server during Christmas, I'm literally quitting this game. Cause with the Anima grind out the window(I had planned to make a relic for MCH, DRK and WHM) housing is all I have left to look forward to. Good luck to everyone looking to finish this.
That last step is probably what's going to send a friend of mine back into quit-zone, after he just got back into the game.
Thanks SE.
Maybe I can convince him to do Thordan EX instead for his highest weapon -n-
sigh.... why can't they just make us beat the HM and EX primals >_>
this is just.... cruel and unusual punishment.
with SS on top for DRG :p
It is mostly a time grind, there is plenty of other things to do in the meantime while working on this, none of this is stuff that has to be done, everyone talks as if this is a must to get farther in the story, of course its going to take a long time for those who don't grind, but the main story still goes on, and really what did everyone expect? Its SE lol
Well, Law times and Beast tribes here I come.
too much works for a downgraded and ugly weapon.
800 alex run is simply idiot... even if you mix match stuff the quantity of item needed for a i210 weapon are simply insane. not even in the previous relic we did reach this level of stupid grind.
This is horrible, and a very terrible step. For people like me who only play a limited amount but have been subbed for a long time out of loyalty, it's enough to make me quit entirely and stop giving S-E any money whatsoever. The sheer ridiculousness of this grind is already making my friends and bf want to quit, and if it weren't for the fact that FFXIV is the only place I can see some friends, I'd have quit a long time ago. Bad form, S-E.
So assuming you go the beast tribe quest path - each tribe (other than Vanu) only offers 3 quests a day that reward the currency. Thus - you must do quests 3 quests from all 4 tribes for 87 days. I believe some of those may involve Fates and such. ha...this sucks.
I'm not sure I understand where the final grind stage is. It that a quest after *Toughening UP* or is that part of it? I'm currently doing dungeons to satisfy the quest at the moment.
Did people already forget about the previous relic grind pre-nerf??? Or is this all the HW players getting cold water thrown on them? There's ALWAYS been a grind associated with the relic chain. 3% atma drop rates. 15% dungeon atma. Millions of gil for materia and crafted materials. Brayflox myth farming, anyone? Garuda HM bonus for 4(!) lights. Ironically, the easiest step (Animus books) went unnerfed and is now considered the most tedious step. This should tell you all you need to know.
Why is this any different? Oh.. that's right. Because Law was raining from the heaven's when HW first started. Doman upgrades came prenerfed with hunts not nearly as grindy. etc etc etc
Hey are you serious, this excells everything before by far.
Am I understand this right? It is for the Upgrade from 200 to 210 or what?
And you need a sum of 80 of those items?
yes that it.... and after what it will be? because that only the first version of the 3.x...
People on reddit made sure the math was correct. I even double checked and corrected errors as they came in. Everything in the first post is so far accurate. After Toughing Up, you receive the Awakened weapon (i200) and this step is for upgrading it to 210.
This is the last step for this series for now until the next relic update.
This doesn't seem bad or "grindy" at all. Well it could be a grind if people make it so. These requirements can be done on a daily basis by chipping away at it slowly and over time. It seems like this was designed to last a longer period of time versus what we've seen. For example clearing Thordan 10 or 15 times gets you your weapon or barding and you're done with it. This can be achieved in a couple of days or hell even one night if your group is dedicated enough. I think this relic weapon questing is fine since it is something many people do on a daily basis anyway. People do maps, roulettes, craft, beast tribe dailies, etc. consistently. Acquiring this relic will be done naturally.
