Now that players can hide it,can we have a better looking Darkside aura?

Players that did not want to see the visuals effects of the skill "Darkside" now have an option to completely hide it. So now that we have that option,can those of us who want to be able to see the aura get a better looking one?

Looking at the auras for the Warrior and Dragoon,their auras look amazing and more importantly,you can actually see them even during combat.The current aura for the skill darkside can barely be seen and barely has any details to it.

My suggestions would be to give darkside it's original black flames or give darkside a new better looking aura that can actually be seen during combat.

Improving the visuals of the aura would not only make it look amazing like the other auras but it would also help players be able to see it in combat.

I know that there are players who absolutely dislike the aura and that's okay. They now have the option to hide it. But what about those of us who just want a good looking aura like the other ones?

I'd rather have them fix some bugs and issues and sort out some QoL problems with all the classes, as well as give us stuff that they promised earlier, than worry about making Darkside look cooler.

There's a lot of QOL that should take precedence like Ashelia said, the ability to filter tells is something we should keep requesting for one. Not to derail your thread but dev does read these and we need to make sure the most important QOL adjustments get made first imo

I think this person has the right to ask for it. There were even worse flashy auras and moves in game, yet ppl got irritated by drk aura and dev listened to them and give them an option WHY not do the same for the ones that want to see it and have cools effects like drg and war.

No one said they don't have the right to ask, it's just there's more important things they could address.

Also people should stop comparing to DRG and WAR aura effects. Darkside can be kept up indefinitely in towns. Wrath/Abandon and BotD can only persist in combat. That is literally the only reason it got special treatment in turning the effect off

The dev team got better things to do yet they heard ppl and did what they asked. They give them an option.this is the same thing . I don't really care about the aura. To me it was not that noticeable when it came out. I agree that there are more important things, but is is unfair now that dev team won't hear that when they heard that other groupm

One was an annoyance to other people (and could almost be considered a bug considering that it did not go away even when other aura effects would be turned off via settings).

The thing the OP is talking about is pure aesthetics.

OP should also know that they already commented on the black flames and have chosen to not change back to it. That is their stance. They said it's too distracting. Even with the option to turn off effects they don't want to change it from what it is.

That's not to say they can't change their minds, but they've commented on this particular case before so to say they don't hear it is wrong

I agree with the op please se give us a better dark side aura. Also for those that want qol stuff stop being so selfish and get in line.

Also what so darn important about these qol's that makes you guys think they are more important. Are they game breaking if they are put in right away? Are you gonna quit if they don't add these qol's that you think are so important? Will they cause you to die if you don't get those qol's? Probably not to all three of my questions. So tell me what's so darn important that you say they are more important then giving us a better dark side aura. And please don't tell me one of these important qol's are fenrir flying cause that's just plain ridiculous.

Fix PLD MT DPS
Fix PLD TP issue for real (the Goring Blade change is laughable).
Change AST shuffle to not draw same card twice or reduce cooldown.
Make Nocturnal Sect compete with Diurnal.
Give Wardens Paean purpose in content
Fix Alexander Normal loot rules (currently one person can win all 4 drops at once which is absurd)
Overhaul the scrip system (I don't know many crafters that enjoy the scrip system)
PvP changes please.
Summoner Egi glamour (because this was actually promised, unlike aura appearance)
Change animation lock so that moves like Benediction and Hallowed Ground are actually instant. This has been present since forever, but if mudra lag can be fixed, I don't see how this couldn't.
Fix TT and LoV tournaments so that they're not just boosting competitions.
Fix TT against NPCs with Random
Make 4 star cards valuable since currently there's no point to have any

A lot of those aren't really needing a fix sure they are annoying but they aren't urgent. So you have yet to prove exactly why it would be more important then say dark sides arua. So yah no they aren't more important on the same line as dark sides arua but not more important. So tell me exactly what makes them more important then I'll understand but till then you haven't proven your point. As for smn getting pet glamour why dies it even need it I don't even understand why se quote unquote promised it.

Because it's PURELY AESTHETIC. The argument you're giving me is more applicable to what you're wanting to get.

Fixing PLD DPS? Changing skills to be useful? Those are actually USEFUL things in game.

If they are going to fix any graphical appearance of a skill than they should upgrade the visuals of Stoneskin. Ugliest spell in the game bar none.

But I'm all seriousness I don't think these should be priorities. There are more pressing issues.

Still you haven't answered my biggest question what the heck makes them so important. Imo tanks should be tanks not dpsers so the argument of pld dps is mute. They shouldn't be dpsing in the 1st place they are tanks not dps. So if a pld wants to dps they should go level a dps class not a tank. I'll be so glad when 3.2 comes out and se fixes the tanks that want to be dps problem. As for stoneskin you hardly even see it so its mute to. For astro's its all about rng anyway was when it came out and should always be. Astro is a rng healer after all. Astro is fine as it is. So really give me a real reason why qol's are so much more important cause to me you still have yet to give me a valid answer. Also I never said dark side aura was more important I said it was on the same par as the qol's

Neither of those moves are animation locked. Do you know what an animation lock is? Animation lock is on skills like jump, assassinate, and Limit Break, where you cannot do anything including move when you have pressed the button until the animation is over. Every skill in the game including those without a cast time take effect on the end of the animation. This is how they were able to nerf skills like holy, without adjusting the cast time (i.e. they increased the animation time). There isn't anything broken about the skills.

As for tournaments, there's literally nothing developers can do to stop losers from cheating in games. This is something you will have to deal with. LoV has random pairing, but with manipulation, you can adjust who you fight. The only fix to this is for more players to play at the same time, nothing from a development standpoint.

PvP changes are allegedly being worked on for 3.2. Allegedly anyway...

In my opinion they could have just made the aura a bit slower and more of a gloomy purple and red and made the black flames part of a weapon animation when its on.. They did look good on Warriors Relic Zeta.

I agree with this completely. There is no reason we can't have all of them in time. And in my OP,I never stated that my request is more important than bugs to be fixed,etc. I just made this thread to make a request. No need to come here and try to deny 1 request or the other when we can have it all with time.

I thought this would be quite obvious. The graphics team =/= battle system team.

I did the initial DRK quest on my alt yesterday and Darkside seems like it was described as a blood-looking aura that flowed around the DRK. What we have now... doesn't really look like that, and I can't imagine it'd be too difficult to make that effect.

I remember watching the Heavensward class trailer and seeing that DRK Au Ra with the epic black flames fighting. I was like damn that looks sick, then I played the class and got something so awfull it makes you want to take a fork jam it into your eyes.

Please give us the level 50 DRK aura or the one in the trailer, current one is horrible.

Exactly,the aura for darkside not only looks bad,but it's barely visible. You only really see it if there aren't many others around you and it's night time.At this point,any other aura would be better than what we have now.

After seeing the amazingly well done auras for the other jobs,I know they're capable of giving darkside a better looking and more noticeable aura.

how Darkside animation made it to ingame like that...is beyond me...it really needs a better effect , is annoying and ppl wanted it gone because it looks bad....u dont see ppl screaming remove WAR aura...or DRG one... yeah they arent permanent outside combat but still...

It's in the graphic settings.Turn down the effects for other players/yourself and you'll stop seeing the aura.

That's been around since forever. I've had other effects off for at least a year. Isn't there an option to just turn off the Aura only?

There actually is no option to turn off Darkside just by itself. You can filter your personal effects to Limited, which will remove it, but it also removes a lot of your *other* effects.

Camate (I think it was Camate anyway) mentioned that we were supposed to be able to specifically target Darkside, but that didn't end up being what we got.

Well, personally, The Aura Effect, especially enmass in places like hub towns, The effect would make me feel motion sick.

So the fact that at least most of them are off on average outside of battle really helps my QoL as a gamer.

we really dont need an aura, bards dont have an aura for their stance , MCH get an horrible attachment to their guns , PLD need to check their buffs to know , Wars dont show the aura until they get 1 charge of wrath....

Remove it or make it look cool or like everyother game make the hands glow , the weapon glow , or an aura on the feets that isnt distracting.

I prefer they improve the aura instead of removing it. It's not fair that other jobs got well designed auras while darkside just gets nerfed to the point where you can barely see it. Now that there is a way to hide the aura (even if it's not the exact way many wanted but you still got it) they should just improve it.

And at this point,anything would be better than what it looks like now,which is barely noticeable outside of combat and almost impossible to tell it's active during combat.

Look, you have devs caring about some stupid gamera reference mount that is totally uncalled for and actually, quite lore unfriendly (for a game that has lore in such high regard that we still don`t have free-GC PvP)... And you people are caring about QoL improvements?

And yeah, Darkside Aura needs to be improved cause actually it kinda horrible. But also, such thing won`t happen cause in SE mindset, Darkside Aura QoL improvements were already done and there is nothing else to do.

Funniest thing is that they don't have to put much effort in to give us a better aura because it's already in the game (Lv.50 DRK quest). They could just give us that and call it a day, its not like egi glamour which requires a boatload of new assets to be created. Really, it's incomprehensible as to why they haven't done this yet.

A dark purple "darkness" color with it's current animation would have made it look cooler (AND kept it from activating my Vertigo since it was the red more than the swirling effect).

Don't know why they picked a spining, semi visible, "colorblind red". (What is it with all the colorblind unfriendly colors anyway?)

I believe they said they couldn't make such an option for a single skill effect but dont quote me on that.But it used to be that even with the effects completely turned off you would still see the aura and that's what a lot of people complained about.Now the aura obeys the graphic settings like all other effects in the game.

Either way,now that it does have a way to be hidden,all I'm asking is for the effect itself to be changed/improved for those of us who want to see a good looking aura like the other jobs have.I'm not even saying what it should look like(even tho I would prefer the aura from the dark knight level 50 job quest)because like I said before,anything would be better than what it looks like now.

No interface needed or special coding. Or, just have the aura not show while on a mount. I really don't get it.

This is a good point. The black flames looking weird to them while mounted isn't a great reason to remove them in my opinion. If the player doesn't like how it looks while mounted,then they can turn darkside off before using a mount. A dark knight doesn't need darkside turned on for anything while mounted,only for battle.

This request to improve darkside's aura is not a difficult one in my opinion,since the assets for great looking dark auras already exist in the game.
