amusement a forbidden word

tried to create a new fc with the word amusement in it. it's a forbidden for some reason. really square!!!

Try Carnival. That word is pretty similar.

If you take the 'Amu' and the 'T' off... I think that may be the problem!

Amusement is also french.

That's ok OP. We couldn't use the word "The" in our FC which is hilarious because our previous FC name had the word "The" in it :rolleyes: How do we know it was "The" because everything else in our previously desired FC title is still in it >_> lol

Some of the forbidden words are absolutely insane.

I honestly think they need to just remove them aside from the glaringly obvious ones. ( Slurs, Curses so on )

i decided to name it yuru yuri. anyone who knows japanese or anime will get the reference. basically it's girls who like other girls. this was allowed but not amusement hahaha

Creating profanity where there was none previously seems to be the only purpose word filters have. I think it was PSO that bleeped "shoes" and "saturday".

What an appropriate picture, considering that the (original) Spider-Man trilogy featured a Peter Parker that didn't use "web-shooter" devices to create spider webs, relying instead on something more...icky (ew).

The best part about the profanity filter was in the launch of 2.0 when most of the returning FC members from 1.0 didn't turn it off. And in trying to organize and help one another out, we kept trying to explain something about a basement level of an area in game.
That too, was not allowed.

Their filter is word specific and doesn't parse with regular expressions, otherwise they could code a filter rule to allow amusement but block the inappropriate word within. I've encountered this nonsense before in another game where we all had to learn h0w to typ3 and ch4ng3 letter5 t0 numb3r5 to say things as simple as c0ngratulations because the filter didn't like 'congratulations'.

You can't use Elezen and other Eorzea words when creating ranks in your free company. I'm honestly unsure what they constitute as unacceptable in their filters @_@.

They may be 'reserved words', much like computer programming languages have reserved words you can't use for variable, procedure, class, object or function names.

Ah yeah "stealth" censoring is something SEGA was well known for in PSO. You're trying to figure out why a seemingly harmless word is censored and then you break it apart and find the reason.

The funniest one I've seen was in LOTRO. That game is developed and run by Turbine, Inc., but the word "Turbine" was blocked by its profanity filter at one point. That led to all kinds of jokes about a company regarding their own name as a profanity. The names of a couple class skills the game uses were blocked as well (though I've forgotten now which ones).

I came here thinking this was gonna be another "the game is boring" rant.

I tried to name my private residence "Who Residence" and that was rejected. I think it's fun trying to spot the forbidden word in a phrase when the profanity filter kicks in.

Tried to use Opo-Opo Club originally for our FC name... Wont take it because I guess poop is a really bad word -__-; Which is funny since its a monster in the game...

Lol, but it still allows C U Next Tuesday.
