PvP actions (rank 50 reward)

We should have a reward for becoming Rank 50, not just for the sole sake of glam but maybe a Mastery of sorts like the ability to use PvP actions/traits outside of PvP.

This by all means should boost the amount of people doing this content.

Sure the rewards aren't great, but they aren't gamebreaking either.

Upvotes for some Dev attention.

testudo, thrill of war, carnal chill, sacred prism, focalisation
Phantom dart giving an 11% damage increase to casters
Full swing giving 20% extra damage to a party
a 2nd invigorate
Impulse rush stacked with battle litany
Mana song/Report/Mana draw literally eliminating the need for mana management entirely, plus free revives that dont give people weakened debuff
Retrogredation on its own

The i180 PvP gear isn't just for glamour, it's to get your BiS and for use in 3.2 and the rewards in the form of action points are massive.

PvP skills would be broken outside of PvP lol

Okay so I admit they'd be gamechanging/not really convinced it'd gamebreak, but these are skills that SE already implemented and its based on a investment system that exists outside of character level with its own progression content*

I'd still stand by having it unlocked, if anything the added dynamics would be a boon to the content people don't really care for (PvP).

I think Focalization would be pretty game breaking on it's own.

Being able to use PvP abilities outside of PvP would be great, but this being a PvE oriented game, you'd have the majority of subscribers extremely upset at the fact that you'd be forcing them to PvP. There are many alternative rewards that PvP could offer that would not impede with the PvE side of things.

Gamebreaking is exactly the word I would use to describe such stupidity.

Axe kick alone is so much better than perfect balance with a shorter cooldown.

Somersault IS perfect balance with a shorter cooldown and a very damaging affect for a lot of bosses.

Fetter ward will allow monks and dragoons to ignore certain mechanics.

Tetsudo and thrill of war will allow several players to ignore mechanics.

The list really goes on for every skill not named detect. Hell, just purify alone...any player not 50 in pvp would be denied entry to endgame parties in a single stroke.

Testudo, Thrill of War, Full Swing, Focalization, Axe Kick, Impulse Rush, Mythril Tempest, Push back, Enliven....They would all be completely game changing and game breaking, many raid mechanics in PVE would be trivialized or made much, much easier. At their worst, most of these are free off GCD damage increases, at their best they increase survivability and damage by obscene amounts. They would have to tune raids with all of these abilities in mind, that's how strong they are. If they did that, there would be a max exodus as I'm sure many raiders would not want to rank up in pvp to level up their pvp abilities just so they could raid.

And those are just the abilities that I personally know, from jobs that I play. I'm sure the other jobs have other completely bonkers abilitiy that would make pve much, much easier.

I leave the PvP scene for a while and the first thread I come back to is this crazy idea lol. The Forums never let me down.

On a serious note, I do agree that there should be more rewards for reaching Rank 50 (and something that escalates if you reach 50 with multiple GC's), but not this. There are so many other things they cuold do that wouldn't be completely game breaking.

I also agree with Taru that I should be allowed to spend those last two AP's. Seriously SE... I'm honestly curious. Did someone forget to add up the AP points when the ranks were increased, or did you have a serious, honestly thought out plan for the last two points that we can't use?

But those 2 points, are probably left there for the same reason why GC ranks are stagnant. Future implementation, although it seriously looks like its forgotten.

the 2 points are there for the same reason there was 1 spare point when 45 was the cap

when the cap was set to 40, all action upgrades went from costing 3 - 5 - 7 etc (including having to buy the skill before you could use it), the system was normalised by auto unlocking all skills and normalising the cost to 4 per upgrade, for a total of 10 upgrades at rank 40

its alot easier to spread out new gear over 5 or 10 ranks than it is to change the AP system every time to accomodate a spare point or 2
