Fingerprint of the Gods Overkill

The activation rate of Fingerprint of the Gods is now so high that catalysts are more common than ordinary items. I've been in Iron Lake for 40 minutes and I've gathered 160 catalysts; this is more than all of the other items combined. Sometimes it activates on the second gather, which leaves me with seven more where I get 1-3 catalysts with absolute success.

Of course, I could take Fingerprint of the Gods off to obtain the ordinary items only, but then I wouldn't be getting catalysts. I'm not here for one or the other, I'm here for both because, as a 50 Carpenter and somebody actively partaking in the materia system and gathering catalysts for my friends, I have a practical use for both.

I don't think we should be forced to choose between catalysts and ordinary items. There must be a way of balancing this more. Before the patch, it wasn't hard to gather catalysts. They always had the same sweet spot and were always at the same degree swing. People not fully understanding the detailed mechanics of gathering is what made them hard to obtain. :(

It now feels like, as a 50 gatherer, I'm being forced to choose between materials and catalysts. Please consider further balancing this change. Perhaps make it the ability can only activate after a certain amount of gathers on that node? Or perhaps making it deactivate after one use again but keeping the increased activation rate. :)

I think it's fine. Just gather with the ability until you have enough catalysts, then take it off. Meanwhile, those who want LOTS of catalysts and not much else can just leave it on full time.

Catalysts are ment to be cheap and plentiful, it was a bit too much having them be the cockblock in terms of cost for materia, especially for the lower levels. While I agree that having to take fingerprint of the gods on/off is inconvenient, I'd rather they made it one of those passive traits and just make catalysts a random extra item, a la dark matter.

And on the subject, it would be nice if they open up catalysts to all gathering areas, instead of 4 per DoL class.

Of course, and should I end up with a few hundred I will probably remove it... However, it's nice to gather both at once because then the time I need to spend gathering drops drastically. :)

I really don't see the problem... Just gather enough catalyst and then take it off.

They're supposed to be common.
Take off Finger Print of the Gods when you have what you need/want.

.... still havent procced for me, after 20 nodes in horizon :( guess im just unlucky xD Though, hearing this makes me a bit happy that theire actually obtainable though :P

The only class with catalysts at Horizon is Miner, if you were on your Botanist or Fisher you wouldn't get it to activate. If you were you're just unlucky. Did you do what I did after the patch? I forgot it was going to wipe our abilities and spent nearly half hour wondering why it wasn't activating. :p

They're not because like you a lot of people spend their time trolling constructive threads rather than learning how to gather. Cute, though... Keep at it, I got a kick out of the fact you tried to say it was my fault you were arguing with me. You're nothing but a common troll and you would have made an argument out of anything I posted, whether or not you disagreed with it or not. :D

And I nearly forgot to say that the vast majority of my catalysts have gone to linkshell members looking to materialise themselves. :)

Or, just don't aim at +5 or -5 when it flicks on... The last three trees my finger of the gods was active and I got rosewood branches and logs and kukuru beans and stuck to -2 where the logs sweet spot is. I only get catalysts (at least in Hala) at +5 so far.

Yeah, I mean, you can just NOT go to -5/+5 for catalyst when it activates and you want to get something other than the catalyst, you can still get other stuff even with fingerprints of the gods active.

I like the new activation rate of Fingerprints of the Gods. Now it's fair...catalyst was supposed to be abundant...and now it is!

Thumbs up for the new activation rate! ^^ Specially because once you're tired/full of catalysts you can just unequip it. ^^

Hmm. Gathering catalyst maybe really good for sp? I guess that is only useful on nodes where you cant one shot each item.
