Verminion Tournament unable to complete - nobody playing

So I'm queueing for the Verminion Tournament which ends tomorrow, and nobody is in the queue. I thought it would be cross server like any duty (having penalty and such) but it's in this room, the minion square. So if there is nobody in the room, I won't have anybody to play the tournament against with. And therefore I can't complete the tournament. Why can't we play against NPC's like with TT? Or datacenter?

I think they said theyre adding cross-server df matchups after this hotfix. (Yell at me if im wrong) I remember them saying that they couldnt get the patch out before this tourney unfortunately.

edit -I was sort of wrong this hotfix theyre just increasing the points you get from beating people ranked less then you, but theyre "considering" putting it in df :(

That would be good, severely needs to be cross-server :(

The maintenance doesn't mention the matchup ques problem but it does mention a change to rank minimums.

Re: what I highlighted in color, do you think it was supposed to say "Maximum amount of rank points" instead of "Minimum?"

I'm pretty sure minimum is right, I have 2400 RP now and beating just about anyone and netting only 1 RP per win is ridiculous. That means I could play all 30 tournament matches, win all of them and only have 30 tournament points!

Some people earn more than that for *one* win. It's simply absurd, and setting the minimum to 30 will at least raise that floor to 900 points.

Cross server tournaments, at least within the same data center, would be a huge benefit and eliminate a lot of the win trading.

It's not just win trade, adjusting points, I don't know in other servers but it scary quiet in Excalibur. The main issue I'm having is just to complete the tournament :/ no chance. I mean, like this, I will never get a chance on the Penguin minion ;; With Triple Triad if nobody is on or wants to play, I just challenge the King, but I can't do that with Verminion.

See the problem is not people playing, the problem is people win trading. As they eliminate the chance to lose.

Um... the problem is people NOT playing. I don't know other threads about trade win, but this one is about people not playing, minion square being empty, queue not filling, not having NPCs to play against etc.

On Ultros, the peoples who win-trade do it for the minion, you see a lots of peoples on the leaderboard that just stop after getting 10 win lol Peoples just dont care and 95% of the time minion square is so dead. Once peoples get the minion it will be even worse :/ Personally i was expecting something different for LoV and i'm dissapointed. So once im done with getting the 3 minions i will be done with LoV too :/

Can we also add the ability to queue outside of Gold Saucer? That is a main reason I'm not queuing more often.

Isn't it the same with chocobo racing though?

Yup and they never added queue outside for that either though people clamoured for it. Doubt it'll happen. Just go to the gold saucer. Not that difficult.

As it is, i'm on the second most populated server and there is never anyone in that room anyway lol :rolleyes:. The day after launch during peak hours there was 2 other people.. one of them AFK

The only reason i'm bothering with it is for the minions. After that I'm done with this haha.

Honestly i'm feeling the same. Doing the minion for me & my GF thats about it. rooms are quite empty 99% of the time, Chocobo's i played it maybe 10-15 times. its nice but.. just missing something, it doesn't have anything that brings me back.

There really is no one to play tournament matches :(
I love Lords of Verminion too :(
The most played matches by players in the tournament this time was:

and so on.

I stopped by the minion square every several hours from 8am-midnight and queued while tabbed out checking forums. For the whole tournament I only got to play 1 match on my main character and 1 match on my alt. Both times I won the other player stopped queueing and left. Still managed placing 20 and 21 on the board which gave me 31,700mgp and 33,300mgp for 1 match LOLL


I'm really sad though I would love to play LoV all the time, RP, tournament, or non-RP. Gonna cross my fingers this gets added to the database center queuing.

I got 10th place on my server with 3 wins...of 3 games. All of which I had to drag people in my FC to the tournament to do.

Same I constantly need to ask around to play people. There is no appeal for people to go to the GOld saucer and Que for something when the Duty finder exists.

That's what I need to do ask around. At least try and get 10+ wins. This sucks so much! I want to play lords of verminion more : (

Actually, LoV ist just not fun enough to play.
It is a badly balanced Moba and I heared the controls for PS user are very annoying.

Another point is the bad implementation. You actually need to be in GS to join the queue, means you can't do anything else during your wait times. You have a massive amount of wintrader and toxic behavior.

Changes needs to be done:

- Add GS to the Daily Roulette (TT, Chocobo Racing, LoV), reward: XP & MGP
- Make it possible to enter the queue for specific Mini Games from every location.
- Expand the Player pool to all server, that win trading will be hard to perform.
- Tournaments only possible through DF queue

Win trading is really not the issues with LoV cause there is no card or platinum pack reward unlike TT. In here the only prize is MGP but nobody farm LoV for MGP anyway, peoples win trade for the minion. The 4th tournament is going on right now, most peoples who care about it will stop playing after this one. You can bet there will be WAY less peoples on the leaderboard now. LoV will be even more empty than before, if that was even possible >.< I think we are 4-5 in here that are not gonna bother with it after this week lol

I'm thinking of trying out a PF this weekend and see if I can't get more people to bite.

The controls for PS3/4 really are horrible XD And I'm not going to buy a mouse specifically for this, since it seems I'll just have to borrow my bf and get the 10 wins for the minion and never attempt it again :/

All I want from LoV are the new minions, then I'm done with it. If I could actually win 10 matches in one tournament it would be one thing, but everytime I try it I get stomped. Controller mode is unplayable and way disadvantaged compared to mice/keyboard. Managed to get 10 wins once out of the 4 tournaments we've had and that was with a friend late at night. All in all, it's just not fun.

They would have more people playing LoV if it didn't have the stupid requirement of being in the area in order to queue for multiplayer matches.

People simply don't want to hang around in that room for their entire play session waiting for a match. If someone wants to play they go in, see the room empty and promptly leave again because there's no one to play against. The only real way to get more people in matches is to allow people to queue from anywhere just like anything else in the DF.

Sunday prime time I sit in queue for an hour from 6pm-7pm just playing the mining/botany mini game...

I love Lords of Verminion and it feels like a waste of development time to make something no one can play.


Please let us queue from anywhere and make it data-center based.

While I get that letting us queue from anywhere kind of breaks the immersion factor, which I'm usually against...I actually enjoy playing LoVM too, but right now it's just impossible. Every tourney, I queue up and chill while I read the forum or do other stuff online (instead of FFXIV) and wait for the win-traders to come and yell at me and then play "who-can-wait-the-longest" with them...for hours...

DF is a must at this point. As for queue from anywhere...I'll take it. I don't want to, but if it helps fix this problem, I say do it.

I'm just going to get the RP and tournament match minions for collection sake and be done with it, I did the 24 challenges for Twintania only... it's literally the only incentive I had to even bother with LoV, out of all them challenges only the last one was remotely good, that's 1/24, and it really just ended up being a burn-the-boss fight again.

Due to how empty and uninterested people are in this, I'll likely have to wintrade for them... Not that I was likely to enjoy doing it, it's not like the mode is actually interesting, and is on the bottom echelon of fun, but at least I'd have felt I am earning the minions.

Such a great use of resources there, dev's*, could have used them for something actually useful, maybe expand on something else... or perhaps, something people actually wanted?

Has anyone heard about any possible time-frame from SE on when they're going to fix this? I know there's people who want to get into LoVM, but with the way things are we just can't, and it's getting worse...last tourney in Jenova had the fewest participants I've seen yet, and today, being the first day of the current "tournament", no one's even tried...I'm just sitting here waiting like usual, and I'm not going to for much longer, I shouldn't have to.

SE isn't going to abandon LoVM, are they? If that's the case, they should just take it out...not that I want that, I enjoy it! It's not the game itself that's the problem, it was how it was implemented...it's just like someone said, Minion square is always abandoned because the first person to enter the square will leave because no one else is there, then the next person will do the same, and the next...and now people have just given up, since it's pointless even trying.

I've spoken to people who want to play this game, SE! People are not playing because it's almost impossible to do so, not because they don't want to!

The reason I cant play Verminion Tourney is because I cannot get past the Tutorial, I'm a PS4 player... the first part asks me to press R1 if I remember correctly and I did pressed whatever command it asked me, NOTHING happened. I used R3/L3 to drag the cursor to GATE and press the command button nothing happened, I tried pressing all the buttons and still nothing, stayed in the tutorial trying to get pass the first step for more than 15min, then i just exited the tutorial and gave up :(

If you got stuck at the same place that i did, you need to press the joystick. The icone they show look alot like a shoulder trigger.

But yes, the PS controls for it suck, they could have simply go with a point and click like the mouse. We just need one button to switch between the minions bar and the battlefield. No need for hold x, press y etc...

The main turn off is you can't just go play it when you want, you need to redo the tutorial everytime because the controls are so not intuitives. I try it today and i wasnt even able to remember how to move my minions out of the starting point >.>

Sounds like they need to fix console controls to boot. I play on PC, and the controls are fairly straight forward. From what I hear/read about PS controls, they have a huge disadvantage. Is there not some way to change the control scheme, though? If not...one more thing to add to the "shoulda-had-from-the-get-go-please-add-now" list...

What? You can actually react faster with the PS4 controls. I can't say about the PS3. I've only used a Dualshock 4 for this game, not 3.
I've used a Mouse and Keyboard as well. In fact, I started LoV with Mouse and Keyboard. But one day I was fooling around, and did a lot better with a Dualshock 4. Heck, I beat the Battle on the Witty Bridge Challenge in LoV with a Dualshock 4, when I couldn't beat it with a Mouse and Keyboard.
