Not really the sundrop dance for the female characters. It's clearly the robot dance.

I heard that the Vanu dance is inspired by Haka:

And the female version is indeed different from the male version, I think that is the reason.

This long thread of feedback isn't good enough for you OP?
Please don't make another thread while there's so much feedback on main thread
But how else will they become a special snowflake? Though honestly, I actually like the dance myself, though I unlock mine tomorrow.
This. That's the problem with ambiguous titles. There's no point doing a forum search when topic titles like "Enough is enough SE" is about a Drk's darkside effect, or a "Glamour Inequality" thread is actually about an emote. At least TC named this thread properly.
I think the female dance looks great and it's amazing to me how many people have their titties in a twist over it. Even if you disagree, demanding to have the male one is...insane? I sorta wish this was like PSU tho where you could do the other gender's emotes all the time by just adding one letter to the / command but I don't think SE will ever give us that option somehow.
And no it's not sexist or whatever. It's just fictional reflection of a real life tradition and how it varies slightly from one gender to the other.
There seems to be some unwritten rule of the forum where all of the threads with the most misleading titles end up getting the best posts and the ones which are labelled correctly to stimulate reasonable discussion die out. It would be nice if we could request topic changes (or just edit them ourselves, as in most cases the original poster realises their error yet finds themselves unable to fix it).
Hooray for human gender politics being imposed upon a clearly nonhuman race. /s
The Male version looks funny, interesting and strong.
The Female version looks weird .. well at least its cute somehow.
It's not cute at all. It's boring, robotic, and altogether unprecedented.
Are there any other purchased or otherwise unlocked emotes that differ based on whether you are playing a male or female character? I don't mean race-specific emotes. (That's another complaint altogether.)
Race-specific emotes are a problem?
You mean, one of the very few things that actually stop races from being a generic mass of sameness? More than they already are?
It's also not unprecedented. if anything, making them the same would be unprecedented, since the real-life dance they modeled it after differs based upon sex.
I don't even like the male version. Just because it's obviously better doesn't mean it's good.
The Vanu Vanu are giant bird people that live in a land in the clouds. We are not talking about Earth here. I am not even playing a human -- er, Hyur. Sorry.
I am not even talking about sexism in this specific case -- only because I don't need that point to make my case this time.
The animation underwhelmed me. I wish they hadn't put this difference in when they literally have never needed to do so before.
My complaint about race-specific emotes is that they are the same for all characters of the same gender for the same racers, irregardless of that character's actual aesthetic or personality. No, I don't RP in this game, but my character is still crafted along certain guidelines I have in mind for what they should look like and move like. The female Sundrop dance flies in the face of that, so now something I was looking forward to, I'll never use.

The Female Haka dance is different but smoother and no less fierce than the males.
Females in FFXIV who do the sundrop look bored. The animations for the females are uninspiring and look cheap and badly done compared to the males.
Of the three dances added this patch, Gold and Thav (to me atleast) look better on females then males, so females still come out ahead IMO.
Plus our character, in dialouges with the beastman, will have the positive sounding choices be in the same style as each tribe, so doing the dance according to how the Vanu do it (via gender) actually makes sense.
Plus we'll all go back to dancing like only Manderville men can anyways.
I just want the dance to be more expressive. Maybe it's just me being a female Roe, but my character hardly moves at all. Super disappointing after watching NPCs being so darn lively leading up to the unlock point. Even Linu Vali is more expressive than me. :(
My feedback: Fits well to Male Highlander with Warrior job. It's like match with his no eyebrow that makes enemy frighten. :p
It sucks, especially for the female version.
and the dance is missing the part that you touch your elbow with your hand. it's not the REAL Haka!!
