An idea to get more people to pvp

Not sure how well this will be taken. TBH I've not even really considered all the balance issues so I'm sure things would have to be swapped around (like pve actions that have different or reduced effects in pvp), but I think the best way to get more into pvp is to make the skills themselves the prizes, that is let them be usable in pve.

As a tank I would pvp like crazy to have Purify. And I don't think it would be to crazy, after all ranking to 50 you cant have all the skills and we all have multiple jobs. My WHM would love Mana Draw and Aetheric Burst.

Like I said this is just the opinion of a very passive pvp player. Just throwing that out there. As a passive pvp player I would become far more active to get these very useful skills and I think others would do the same.

Are you talking to use this skills outside PVP? that would create a huge barrier between non-pvp and pvp people.
The difference would be quite big considering alot if not most skills are off GCD.
Even if you keep it inside PVP, this is not gonna draw more people into PVP because it only affects PVP.

They should add more stuff like, Mounts,minions,housing,glamour,emotes and lots more.

At one point, the PvP skills were rewards--for PvP only. But then they became a barrier to entry and SE gave them to everyone.

In PvE? It's a neat idea in concept but I feel it would work out the same--it would become a barrier to entry.

It would be incredibly poorly received, but you can't deny it would get more people to PVP :P
That or it would make a ton of people quit the game.

Would be fun if playing old pve content unsynced would allow you to use all your pvp skills there, since you are already destroying the balance enough anyway

skill no but more mounts etc to the extreme prices of gold saucers fenrir... somethin you cant farm in a week but take atleast 1-2 months for hardcore longer for the casuals

A noble sentiment for a worthy cause. I feel that the skills meant to balance PVP, though, will not translate well to PVE.

SE has taken a carrot approach to PVP, or at least frontline, with a glamor set and a couple mounts. I think a lot of players will see PVP to PVE skills as a stick, and I worry that their resentment will only hurt PVP. I've already seen some drawbacks to the daily PVP roulette where players openly announce, "I'm only here for the tomes." Based on how they play, I'm inclined to believe them, and I don't care for their company. If they don't want to be in PVP, I don't want them there either.

I think PVP is fun and would like the entry time to be counted in minutes rather than hours. For all my criticisms, however, I don't see an easy path to bring in more people who will actually enjoy PVP.

they made mounts to easy to farm for people then no reason to go back.. once the hardcores get what they needed they dont go back.. i remember was 10min wait for sealrock no on average its 50-80mins for a loss hate the 24 player frontlines its boring miss the 72 player so much

All SE has to do to get people into PVP is add the hunt seals as a reward from pvp. This would give an alternative way to grind them without dealing with the hunt zerg. If pvp was a viable way to get hunt seals pvp would be a lot more popular.

That's going down well with lore. The Centurio Clan wants you to hunt down Adder/Flame/Maelstrom members....ohhhhh boy, wars a comin!

PvP cant merely be a grind to get something; it would eventually die completely. I bet there are numerous people who stops PvP once they have grinded all the mounts/achievements/gear/etc they want. Then again, pretty much all content in this game revolves around grinding to keep it alive.

Sigh, I wish more people would simply play just to play.

Whatever rewards they're gonna give from pvp in the future, I'll never ever gonna touch pvp.

Personally I think PVP needs to have it's own design team of people who specialize and focus on the PVP aspect of the game instead of the PVE aspect. This team would obviously be overseen by Yoshi-P for stuff like lore and etc. Then have PVP get it's own patch rotation, maybe once every 3-5 months we get new PVP additions and addons(weapons, minions, mounts, game modes) like they do in PVE. This team of people would then be able to more directly cater to player wants and fine tune it so it's more fun. I feel like the current design team is doing what they can but they get torn between the two and with more players obviously wanting more PVE content that's where they focus their attention. And hell, maybe if they're feeling really cheeky they could throw in some PVP quests to detail how the battle is going over time. Just my two cents.
Also, there needs to be a Slaughter mode where your GC doesn't matter and you can queue with whoever, but that's just my own personal opinion.

PVP is the only content (besides house decorating) that I find compelling enough to do with no rewards. I hit 50 ages and I'm constantly struggling to find new things to spend my capped Wolf Marks on, but I still want to PVP ever day. I can't though, because as nice as it would be if more people PVP'd just to PVP, it's not going to happen. SE needs to add more reasons for the average player to PVP or it's going stay dead.

We've said it over and over, but just in case this is the thread is the one that the devs happen to pay attention to: Wolf Marks should get you some or all of the following: Mounts, Titles, Minions, Furnishings. What about crafting items? Give people another way to farm things they can get elsewhere.

I've never been able too get in too pvp I que for it but it never pops for me guess it don't help that can only play at night but I really want too at less try it

People just need to accept at some point that the overwhelming majority of FF players are not interested in PvP and would probably rather quit the game than do PvP for things that are required for PvE (like the suggested skills).
I'm torn - I don't really like PvP, but I like the gear, so I try to do it at least from time to time, but it's really hard because queue times are between 30 min and 6 hours, depending on the time of day.
So I'd like it if more people signed up for PvP, but I totally understand them when they say that they don't want PvP to become required to do well in PvE.
